TV/MoviesTomtom Sponsors A New Season Of MTV Base Cypher by Qtsnow(op): 7:39pm On Feb 21, 2022
MTV Base today announced Nigeria’s number one candy brand, TomTom, as the official sponsor of the new season of MTV BASE CYPHER which premieres on Sunday, 27 February 2022, at 19:00 WAT.

Tagged ‘Freshman Class’, the all-new season (third in the sequence) is set to feature series of thrilling rap battles, amongst different teams, with winners to be determined by the viewers.

Speaking about the TomTom sponsorship of the show, Category Manager, Morolake Emokpaire, says that “Through the MTV Base Cypher, we are connecting the TomTom’s essence of giving consumers the clarity of voice and confidence for expression with the passion point of millions of Nigerians, music. Having kicked off our IMC campaign (Breathe For It) last year, sponsoring the MTV Base Cypher is just one of the many activities we have in store for TomTom. As a music genre that is fun, vibrant, refreshing and edgy, Rap is an integral part of the Nigerian music culture. It embodies the lyrical uniqueness and expressions of individual talents, and that’s something we connect to as a brand.”

Base cypher is a short form that caters to the rap culture and gives performers an opportunity to share their truth. This season’s MTV Base Cypher’s ‘Freshman Class’ will see Africa’s best young, up and coming rappers paired up into various groups for a friendly face-off and a chance to win the grand prize of one million naira.

The Country Manager, Paramount Africa, Bada Akintunde-Johnson, said, “Nigeria’s music industry is brimming with refreshing talent. So far, we have seen hip-hop, soul, afro-pop, afro-fusion and similar genres of music flourish. MTV Base launched the Base Cypher to ensure that while engendering an enabling environment for music artistes, no genre is left behind.”

“Rap culture has blossomed in Nigeria, and we have quite a number of quality lyricists seeking global platforms like MTV Base to showcase their talent to a wider audience. Through the Cypher, we want to give budding artistes the visibility they need to ‘blow’”, he continued.

To catch all episodes of MTV Base Cypher ‘Freshman Class’, tune in to MTV Base DStv Channel 322 and GOtv Channel 72, every Sunday at 19:00 WAT starting 27 February 2022. You can also follow @mtvbasewest across all social media platforms for more exciting scoops from the show and join the conversation using the hashtags #TomTomxMTVBase and #MTVBaseCypher.

Pls as for the mosquito killer, does it really do the job of killing mosquitoes?

Like if its on now, it will actually attract all the mosquitoes in the room and kill them ?
It does attracts them, but more effective and work wonders when you sweep it around the room. Instead of wasting money spray insecticides.

I have come to learn that anything that makes it to ecommerce sites, Instagram or whatever, automatically doubles price. You pay for your ignorance of not knowing where to source these things directly and you pay them for bringing it to your doorstep.

Few days back I was passing somewhere and I saw them selling inbuilt ovens, microwaves and those big foreign used refrigerators (Hotpoint, Siemens and Whirlpool mostly). Out of curiosity I stopped and decided to window shop. Mind you, I didn’t even know where I was, but it was on the mainland. The seller, an old woman, told me a refrigerator of about 250l is 80k. She said I should price it small. The inbuilt oven is 43k.

Mind you, I know pages that sell the same refrigerator for 130k. All because it made it to Instagram and they assume online shoppers are impatient and have a lot of money to throw around.

My Point: You can go out there and buy these things yourself at cheaper rates, since the prices here are competing with flagship stores.. Online shopping these days is a scam. Decluttering is also becoming a scam. I am not sure it is meant for Nigeria and Nigerians.

You see office table and chairs, those Igbo traders along Egbeda road are looking for who to buy it @20-30k.
Quite true, few days ago i was looking for this rechargeable electric mosquito killler, i saw them on Facebook Ad from 12k -24k, i contacted my friends if they had any one seller it, got the ladies contact i later bought it from her at 5,500.

Although, there are still some good deals here and you know one when you see it. Everyone should shine there eye. And also, some people are just lurking around to price some good deals at and overwhelming ridiculous price.

Access Bank Lagos City Marathon offers Africa a gateway to the world - – Ajoritsedere Awosika

Ajoritsedere Awosika, the Chairman of Africa’s largest retail bank, Access Bank PLC, has affirmed that the Bank’s sponsorship of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is in line with its strategic objectives to be positioned as ‘Africa’s Gateway to the World’.

“Sports is one of the gateways to Africa and conversely one of Africa’s gateways to the world, hence, the annual Access Bank Lagos City Marathon connects with our strategic objectives to make the continent more attractive to global investors and trade partners,” Awosika said while addressing the press at the recently concluded 7th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

Speaking on the bank’s long-term plan in relation to the marathon and sports, in general, she stated that Access Bank is going global with its efforts and the Access Bank team has been given a target of about 5 years to achieve this goal. “Access Bank is looking at getting beyond today. It’s already in our strategic plan,” she said.

The marathon, which returned to its full-scale form, saw Geleta Ulfata of Ethiopia emerge as the winner of the 42km men’s race. Ulfata beat about 300 marathoners on Saturday morning to claim the grand prize of $30,000. In a closely contested finish, Ulfata edged out David Barmasai and Emmanuel Naibei — both from Kenya — who finished second and third, respectively and will go home with $20,000 and $15,000.

Ethiopia’s Dagne Siranesh Yirga was the first woman to cross the finish line at 2 hours 33 minutes and 50 seconds. She was followed in second place by compatriot Alemenseh Guta and Kenya’s Naomi Maiyo in third place. They also will be going home with $30,000, $20,000 and $15,000 respectively.

The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon was led by key figures in Lagos State and beyond including, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State; His Excellency Femi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State; His Excellency Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State; Mr Sunday Dare, Current Minister of Youth and Sports Development; Herbert Wigwe, Group Managing Director, Access Bank PLC; Roosevelt Ogbonna, Deputy Group Managing Director, Access Bank PLC and a host of leaders from the private sector.
