I travelled 1st to Chicago and came to Phoenix at 36weeks 3days and I went tru a lot of pains on that Chicago-Phoenix flight. I guess cos I was past 36weeks + my body system.

So pls monitor ur body and kno if u will be up to it.

Nita2013: Lol @cfcchick and raii. Ok oh we will keep u guys posted. My LO is yet to pop but I av been to d hospital 3 times now (Financials, Ob/Gyn and Blood test/Scan) and d service so far has been great as they listen to everything u av to say and keep askin u if u av any problem.

I am presently at crossland and we r many here oh. It's like a small naija community and a family as well. We had a small buffet dinner on Saturday and some Mommas from other apartments also came. Would have posted pics but don't kno if our very own Justwise would allow that. Some Mommas av popped already and all momma/babies r doing great. God has been faithful to his words.

One thing I notice about MIHS is that they try their best to avoid CS. CS is normally d last option for them when they see that all options av been exhausted. But like I say God is d ultimate.
Hi Nita. Good to know there are many naija mamas over there. How many weeks preg were you when you travelled? M looking at coming in between 35/36 weeks.

Phema: Bloggerina thanks for the detailed response on BA. Where was your POE and how did you cope with the layover at Heathrow?
Phema I am also confused too. Even the whole flight-poe thing. Does one need to buy a one way ticket and book the return leg after birth or do a return at the initial start?

nefertitiram: @babe16 you can try intown suites in phoenix. Palm shadows, siesta palms and twin palms will not send you a reservation until you appear in person, so it may not favour you for visa interview.

As for MIHS letter, I waited for my physical mail forever, till I was able to reach an Alba who sent me an email in 5 mins! So if you call, please ask for Alba Cahans. She is very efficient.
I just calles MiHs and spoke to a Suzy. She insisted on no mail even when I asked for an email and she requested to know the particular date I would be arriving. Is that how it goes?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by raii: 4:17pm On Sep 03, 2014

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by raii: 10:30am On Sep 03, 2014
Soso15: @pattyreal I'm quite excited to find a march 2015 mom here. Please try and get your visa ASAP. As at last week when I checked for someone, there were available visa application dates in September. All the best with your application

Oballer: Dear NL Moms,

Congratulations on all safe deliveries and advance congrats to all expectant moms.

God bless you all for the useful resource you post on this thread...so so helpful
We are considering using OAKBEND medical center and Dr. Fagbohun, would appreciate first hand info from moms who have used them recently. Also:
1) recommendation on closest, safe & affordable accommodation (for 2 adults & 1 toddler- 10weeks stay)
2) Experience/ advise on feeding & transportation
3) any useful recommendation to guide our travel plans scheduled for Mid October- late December.

Merci beaucoup!
What are Dr Fagbohun's fees like?

bloggerina: Hello, first I just want to say that this is a wonderful thread, lots of useful info. Its a pity I found out about this thread AFTER I had my baby in the US earlier this year. lol
Anyways, I just want to provide helpful info for the person who asked about another doctor in West Houston Medical Centre. I had my Son there in Feb this year, my doctor was Dr Jeanie Huynh. Fantastic doctor! A friend's sis-in-law had used her before so I went to her and I must say, i'm glad I did. She also did my son's circumcision and it was fantastic. I had emailed the doc's office and also faxed my medical report in advance. They didnt accept payment in advance anyway, had to pay everyth when I got there. So here's what I spent a few months ago:

Dr Huynh's Fee - $2,000
Additional OBtests @ Doc's office - $270 (please do as many of the tests as you can do in Naija)
Circumcision - $255
Hospital Fee - $4,000 (I ended up having a C-Section coz I developed PIH when I arrived in the US)
Epidural - $1,200
Paediatrician - $93 (Dr Huynh's office suggested a paediatrician to me that also gives discount to Dr Huynh's patients so this was quite cheap. Otherwise I would have spent $800 if I had used WHMC's Paed).

Please can I have the email for Dr Hyunh. There is no email listing for the docs at whmc.
