Christianity Etc › Re: If You Have A Personal Relationship With God, Why Do You Need Holy Books? by RatCabbage: 8:43am On Mar 12, 2023*. Modified: 9:02am On Mar 12, 2023 |
Wilgrea7: Hello again everyone.
So I've been having a discussion about personal relationships with God recently, and I decided to open a new thread about this to get more opinions on the issue.
The idea of having a "personal relationship with God" is something that exists abundantly not only in Christianity, but in a couple of other religions as well. And a lot of people claim to have such relationship with a God of some sort.
So my question is really simple. If you indeed have a personal relationship with a God, then why do you need religious books? Why do you need the bible, Quran, Vedas, or any other religious book to know what God says, or what God wants?
In the personal relationships we have in our everyday lives, we talk to, and interact with these people personally. We know things about them, not because we read them somewhere, but because we've shared similar experiences with these people to know these things.
When we hear from our loved ones, or the people in our lives, we don't rely on third parties, or old novels they wrote to someone else. We converse with them directly.
Without any independent direct conversation, free from influence by religious scripture, how can you call your relationship with any God "personal"? It's quite simple actually. To form a "personal relationship" with someone or something one needs to have an understanding of their character, their like and dislikes and so so. An entity which is not same plane as people can only be manifested through obscure means, literary and the like, so to feel the connection to said entity, you would need references because you can't physically interact with them To make it clearer. Let's use an imaginary fictional character. If I want to delude myself enough that I interact with a fictional character on a daily basis I need to have a base knowledge of their personality. That I would find in whatever franchise they come from; songs; books; movies or whatever and try to analyse how they would act in my day to day life and the more I think of them, the more I feel connected to them and if I hyperfixate on them enough, I'll see their "influences" in my day to day life and genuinely feel a stronger connection from the stronger understanding. This doesn't make them real though because at the end of the day, it's all in my head. The only thing real is the emotions I feel from tge connection I made to said character, not the character itself |

Kobojunkie: 1.
2. According to scripture, all those who are not of the blood of Israel were condemned to die from their beginning in Genesis 3 vs 19 - 22. So, they are free to imagine for themselves the "afterlife" they desire. I can understand where you get your analogy from, but with this, how can you then tell who and who isn't of the blood of Israel? |

Lawag3: We can't. we love you all that's why we are on the street many Christian you see on the street preaching have something else they can do but they leave their businesses and jobs just to make sure you are saved that you escaped hell they don't want you to suffer eternal pain . In the bible Jesus tells believers if you love your neighbor you'll tell them about me . Christian are on the streets for a good reason, they want your salvation. Its like a neighbor warning the other of a coming danger . Is that wrong.
What are the homosexuals on the street for? I think they are seeking validation for their relationships.
I don't think I will be happy in heaven knowing I could have saved my friend from hell. 1. Yh you can tell your friends about Jesus not force them to worship him like you do 2. They're not seeking validation for relationships, they're seeking rights to live because religion seems to cloud people's judgement causing them to see anyone who doesn't have the same beliefs as them as abominations and monsters and non-human which is wrong. Just because someone has a different sexual orientation than you doesn't mean they're not human beings |

elated177: El Elohe Yahshrael!
When are the homosexuality apologists going to get it?
Two people of the same sex, who are in same-sex relationship, may not be hurting anyone directly, they are, however, hurting the environment, and by that, hurting the earth. Any act that hurts the earth also hurts both the perpetrator of such act and the other inhabitants of the earth. Whatever hurts the earth, hurts its inhabitants.
Isaiah 24: 4 The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the heavens languish with the earth. 5 The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.
So, it does not matter whether you believe the existence of the supernatural or not, the truth remains. The portion of Scripture given above was stated thousands of years ago. There are particular natural orders of things. The violation of any of them, always comes with consequences. The natural order of sexual relationship is between a man and a woman and scripturally sanctioned only between a husband and his wife.
When the earth suffers, the heavens also suffer. The plants, the animals - both on land and in the waters - all suffer the consequences of the abominable activities of humans.
Isaiah 24: See, YHVH is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants— 2 it will be the same for priest as for people, for the master as for his servant, for the mistress as for her servant, for seller as for buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor. 3 The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered. YHVH has spoken this word.
At the appropriate time, the Creator of the heavens, the land, the seas and everything in them will annihilate the earth and its inhabitants.
So, you see, the abomination called homosexuality, is the chief polluter and defiler of the earth. It is one of the abominable acts that will lead to the destruction of the earth.
Abstain from the abominable and detestable act of homosexuality. It pollutes and defiles the earth.
El Elohe Yahshrael! Hallelu YAH! You know what's defiling the earth? CO emissions, pollution, nuclear wastes. Two same gender people having sex together is none of your business, you can base your moral code off of your religion but not everyone is the same as you. Let people do what they want and live how they want |
Gaming › Re: Mobile Games by RatCabbage: 9:30pm On Oct 04, 2022 |
Well of course it depends on the kind of games you like to play and if you have the space and wifi for the "good" games that you can play on mobile. I highly recommend Genshin impact, it's my favourite game and it's an open world with a gacha system....I don't wanna gush over it too much or it's gonna sound like an ad, but there are tons of games you can play on mobile if you have the space and wifi for it |
