davodyguy:I'm telling you. We are expecting results to be announced before sunrise. Ganduje's stronghold is in the rural area while his opponent is in the metropolitan area of the state. Whoever wins we hope for a peaceful celebration. |
davodyguy:You can easily verify. This is legit. |

blaqroy:You are a funny guy! |
Gbengageorge:Yes it is.....It can power Fan, TV etc. Here in the north, it is a very good solution as we have abundant sunlight. |
I use mtn lumos to power my aplliances. It powers my two laptops and phones. I purchased it around 26,000 Naira last year, i pay monthly subscription of 4,500 Naira. |
bender79:hahhahaha....I'm from north. Northwest in particular. |
North west. Kwankwaso is the only politician that can match buhari's popularity. godox2: |
For us living in the north, we know nobody can give Buhari a serious headache like kwankwaso. If the two are to contest northwest zone vote will be split into two unlike in 2015 that is why there are doing anything in their power to stop him. Shameful tactics by the federal government. |
This sums it all.

Bleep Muric. |
Kano is Red. If you don't know now you know |
Goldiano:Walk without feet, fly without wings and think without mind. An Indian girl introduced me to his teachings and gifted me that book. Search on youtube you will find a lot of his videos. |
Olulinks:walk without feet, Fly without wings and think without mind. The book questions religious belief and tradition. Talks about sexual freedom and God. Mind you Osho beliefs in God but not in religion. |
I've read one of his books. The guy has wisdom. |
Tell your boss Kano is a battle ground for him now with kwankwaso leaving the party. |

If we look back both Islam and Christianity are a middle eastern religion by origin with no trace to Sub-Saharan Africa.Christianity came to Nigeria in the 15th century through Augustinian and Capuchin monks from Portugal while Islam was brought to Nigeria as early as 7th century but it got wide acceptance In the early 19th century when Islamic scholar Usman dan Fodio launched a jihad, the Fulani War, against the Hausa Kingdoms of Northern Nigeria. These two religions influence in the people of Nigeria's way of life can't be underestimated. From music to culture, art, National holidays, eating habit, marriage, identity, politics, and education. There is no aspect of the life of the average Nigerian that is not influenced by the said religions. One might ask before the introduction of this religions to our shores what were our ancestors religious beliefs. How do they worship? were they forcefully converted or peacefully? Do they feel their own belief system to be inferior? why did they abandon their tribal names and accepted foreign names? There are lots of this questions but let's leave it to the historian to answer. This article is to look at the reality of the situation of present Nigeria with both Christianity and Islam as dominant religions and how things might turn out if they weren't brought to our shores. Note: This is not a personal attack on any religion or your way of life. I believe if you can read this and digest you are matured enough to receive criticism. 1) Politics: Since the birth of Nigeria religion has played an important part of Nigerian politics. It has been used to persuade voters, to pass and deny specific laws, to gain political appointments and get denied based on the basis of it. A quick web surf will tell you how religion has deepened into our political system from Nairaland Politics Section to Sahara Reporters Facebook comment. And usually, it is always filled with hatred, prejudice, and bigotry from both sides. It has made us suspicious of ourselves. Because of our religious sentiments and making religious law above the rule of law murder like the one of the Igbo trader in Kano has made it very difficult to have justice for cases like that, which are numerous. When we elect religion champions into the house of representatives which by nature of their job rule of law should be above any law you got bills like family planning been rejected while citing religious claims to defend their irrational action. In conclusion, Religion in Nigeria's politics has deterred the country from moving forward. I believe without Christianity and Islam interfering to our political system, we as a nation will be able to choose leaders based on qualities and values, pass judgment based on free and fair trial, guarantee protection to our citizens where ever they might be across the country and pass rational and common sense laws. 2) EDUCATION: Even though our educational system can't compete with the rest of the world at least it is a good foundation to start and has lifted a lot of people out of poverty. But there are lots of people who by choice of their parents didn't go to the same type of school we all went in order to prevent them from getting a western education but rather send them to Almajiri school. While such type of thing happened mostly in the Northern part of the country but as a whole its a burden to us as a country. Such people are a burden to society as they lack proper upbringing and education they are most likely to be used to incite religious and political violence. These people are numbered in millions and mostly aged between 5 - 18 which is the age they are supposed to be in school. If our leaders (north or south) can think straight this practice would have long been gone but rather it has continued to be practised even if common sense dictates it is children exploitation and abuse. Such topics are not easily discussed because religion is involved. Had it been our ancestors didn't abandon their own belief system such practices wouldn't have been practised. The millions of children in the North trap in this backwards educational system would have gotten the opportunity to have a proper education hence boosting the nation's growth overall. Some might argue it is cultural but the same practices are found in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and some Arab countries. 3) Pilgrimage: There are up to a billion Black people in the world and Nigeria boost the highest population. Every year we spend a lot of money to perform this pilgrimage. There is nothing wrong in spending your own money to go to pilgrimage but there is a big problem when the government spends a huge amount of money to cater for less than 5% of the population to go to pilgrimage while abandoning basic amenities for the common good of all people e.g road, clean water. Had it been we retain our traditions, we can make a Mecca or Jerusalem of our own that will annually attract all Black People in the world hence boosting our economy, strengthening brotherhood and at the same time getting spiritual satisfaction. Or can't do gods speak to us? 4) We have more places of worship than schools, hospitals and libraries combined. In Jigawa and Sokoto recently the state governors spent more than 100 million Naira to build mosques, building churches and erecting Jesus statue in the south with public money is common. 5) Terrorism, child marriage, polygamy, enriching pastors in the name of collecting tithe, rejection of modern medicine and the stagnant of our society overall can be contributed to the influence of these religions in our daily lives. In conclusion, I will like Nigeria to be truly secular as that will be the first step to greatness and religion should always be a personal matter rather than a state matter. Question to the reader do you think as a nation these two religions help us or are dragging us backwards as a nation? |
