Yes, because discos have been losing a lot of money...because you want them to charge N70 for something that cost N210 to produce...a kwh of power. Some Nigerians want it free of charge.

And this is encouraged by government laws.

The result is no profits, and as a result, the discos cannot work well at all. Thus some band A areas have no light.

Even at full strength, the discos cannot give everyone good power.

It would cost N15 trillon annually over the next 5-10 years to fix things. The first step to getting that money is to pay a cost reflective tarrif, so that business people and banks would be ready to pay most of the financing because now there is a chance of ROI

That is because, again, they pay a cost reflective tarrif. Majority of Nigerians do not pay a cost reflective tarrif, and that's why the power sector is running at chronic losses and has not had money, enough money, to pay the gas companies since 2013. Government subsides that were at best supposed to pay part of the gas money have been irregular and for a while haven't been paid.

Had there been cost reflective tarrifs since 2014, even since 1993, or earlier, by now we all would be on band A level service.
