jasper7:No.... Edo state |
mercylicious:Yo' right Mercy but I didn't buy it, I rented d land n d community boys are just so frustrating, they will always want to extort money from pple. |
jasper7:Its 2 acres but was not measured with tape n I'm not sure its up to 2acres. Eye gauge things.... the community boys refused to use tape. I'm not using irrigation for now n its affecting the yield but I'm managing it that way for now cos I'm doing all d work myself n its stressful. thanks boss. |
Jasper, You are indeed a genius.... I have been following your thread silently from day one. like what was preached in church today, Jasper "You are in Purpose" n I love all you've been doing. God will CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU n You will NEVER experience anything "lack" I'm really impressed n encouraged n also envy You. I practically started my farm after reading much from this forum, I plant fluted pumpkin leaf n it has been my source of income that foots my school fees n other bills with little support from my family. I'm in HND1 now n hoping to expand my farm n grow other vegetables before rounding up with studies. I will be glad to see you live one day. Thanks to You n others like world1, jethro, kalusam who hv contributed to my life...... Pls keep d good work up. God Bless You all. |
hayoakins:Thanks |

A4dams:You welcome Sir. |
Agricultural extension is a general term meaning the application of scientific research and new knowledge to agricultural practices through farmer education. The field of 'extension' now encompasses a wider range of communication and learning activities organized for rural people by educators from different disciplines, including agriculture , agricultural marketing , health , and business studies. Agricultural economics originally applied the principles of economics to the production of crops and livestock — a discipline known as agronomics. Agronomics was a branch of economics that specifically dealt with land usage . It focused on maximizing the crop yield while maintaining a good soil ecosystem . Agricultural economist is sm1 that studied or practicing agricultural economics. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricultural_economics en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricultural_extension Hope it helps.... |
smartoskie:It depends on the spacing you used in planting. If they re planted closely, it will consume more. I didn't use any particular length for spacing cos i planted some very close n gave some enough space n I used up to 14rubbers n secondly you know the measurement of an acre varies base on ur location. Some people said d normal spacing is 1-1.5metres. |
RealChris:Pls someone should answer me...

My fluted pumpkin farm as at 24th November, 2014. I have harvested 4times from it. |
nwimo22:Google it |
ptoall:The Piece I meant is the size of leave that can fill your fist tied together... Just like broom and 1piece is N100, that is, the 25 pieces are N2,500. I will try and post a picture. |
smartoskie:I live in Benin City, Edo state and you are permitted and free to visit anytime n anyday |
focus7:Noted. |
smartoskie:Yes.... Got 25pieces from there. it was sold for N100 each piece. its not much since its d first harvest from it. Harvested frm the first set I planted today again, its the forth time I hv harvest frm it. Didnt complete an acre at first due to d community youth disturbance n unavailability of seeds. Just finished it this month n I hv added an acre to mk it 2 acres. My issh is tht I'm not sure if its a complete size; thts 2acres but I'm sure of getting over 200 - 300pieces in every 10days harvest by January. |
focus7:I'm glad Focus. Was really lonely here, good to have U here. hope ur vegs are good. where do U base? will b glad to share experience. Called but seems its a wrong number. |
Juliana7:Yes, I used boost extra. Boost extra is like a liquid fertilizer which enhances d veg to grow fast but frm my observation it only changes the colour of the leaves n mks it to look fresh, just like treatment; use it when the leaves are yellow. Will advise U apply normal granule fertilizer like npk15:15:15 or urea. but I mixed both n applied once n the ugu looks sweet. will try n get some shots |
ptoall:There is no poultry around but i have applied urea n npk fertilizer. Only wanted to know how super grow works. thanks |
Good day, pls I want to know if anyone here have used GNLD Super Grow. If any, pls how was the yield like? thanks for ya quick response. |
bamiwale:Thanks Bamiwale. is tht amount for rent per year or for outright purchase? |
bamiwale:I'm managing d size as it is for now and as for d youths, I hv settled their bush inspector n i'm now working without disturbance for now. I only hope that they shouldn't come again with another story cos i'm only into vegetable(fluted pumpkin) farming for now which I hv started harvesting with hope to expand to other crops and animals as time goes on. For me, relocating is not an issue cos farming is what I want to do for a living provided the place is conducive for living with any form of disturbance. How much is an acre or hectare of land in Oyo or Osun n what village is that? Are there cows in the bush that eat up crops? Are d lands there suitable for vegetable farming? will there b good source of water in the farm or close to the farm? what about quick access to market? thanks for your assistance Oga Bamiwale I will b glad if I get a good place in Edo state though. |
LONGFELLOW02:Its Obagie community. Where Presco is located |
Pls If U are a Vegetable farmer (fluted pumpkin leaf, tomatoes n pepper) in Benin, Edo state, let me know. I will love to visit your farm for sighting n learning purpose. Thanks Happy Birth Day To You, ADENIYI SOLA BUNMI (World1) |
I used to hv issues with the community youths that sit at home doing nothing than to smoke, drink n wait for farmers they can oppress for settlement. I have paid like 10k for an acre of land which is not even up to d normal measurement cos they used eye gauge to measure it for me, they refused using a tape to measure it. And 2ndly cow disturbs a lot in d place I'm farming, they eat up pple cassava farm n also eat pple water melon. I planted fluted pumpkin leaf n i'm planning to relocate by next year to any other place around Benin that is good for vegetable farming n other crops with accurate measurement on lands without community boys or youths n cows disturbing. Anyone with good place should let me know, advice n suggestions also needed. thanks. |
Kalusam:Actually, I didnt do any soil test but farmers around do apply only NPK15:15:15 to their own but I was told that Urea mks it to produce good leaves while NPK helps for seed production... So I just decided to mixed the 2. I also use extra boost to spray the leaves. I know soil test is very very compulsory n important but I dont know where to do it and how much it can cost me. Thanks for ur replies Kalusam, It helps.... I will appreciate if there are more advice for improvement. |
