I cannot categorically tell you whether it will have a bad effect or not. Fertilizers are meant to supplement available soil nutrients, so how rich is your soil in Nitrogen? Is it necessary to add more of Nitrogen rather than phosporus or other elements? Answering these will help you to make a more informed decision.

Actually, I didnt do any soil test but farmers around do apply only NPK15:15:15 to their own but I was told that Urea mks it to produce good leaves while NPK helps for seed production... So I just decided to mixed the 2. I also use extra boost to spray the leaves. I know soil test is very very compulsory n important but I dont know where to do it and how much it can cost me. Hello Chris, Urea is a single fertilizer which contains mostly Nitrogen (which is essential for the vegetative growth of plants). But remember that as you want to have vegetative growth, you also don't want to have yellow leaf or weak vines, so while urea is good N.P.K will be better, I suggest you use N.P.K 20:10:10 or Urea+Farm yard manure.

I want to plant ugu this month but some people I met while clearing the farm said I would have wait till September or October, If I wait till then, the land will get bushy again and will cost me more money to clear it. I want to plant it this month cos I have cleared the place already and...
1. The soil is well drained loamy soil and its not a water lodged land
2. I want to make ridges or moulds.
3. I dont have more money to clear it again and I will be doing the clearing and watering myself after planting.

Is it advisable to plant this month? How many seeds can I plant in each hole? Need ya advise sharp sharp on to make them grow well.... Thnks

djdoxxx: Where do I start from now?ok...lemme see!I wanna give out a well detailed survey on d profit of quail farming...nairalanders have been asking tew know dis...now dis is it:let's say yew having 200k for ur business...now assuming yew av ur land and housing intact...now,tew always get 10crates of egg on a daily basis will require yew tew av 300female birds.i.e 30eggs make 1 crate,so 30*10:300birds.....now taking consideration of mortality rate,cracks due tew carelessness and other miscellaneous losses,we add 50 more female birds tew make 350females.
To know the number of males tew stock with the females,its done in ratios...and it best done at 1:2.5....I.e for err 10females,u stock 4males;100females,u stock 40males...so now dat we have 350 females,yew stock 140males

Buying ur birds at d rate of #1000each would cost yew #49000 #490,000
For their feeding,I use Topman feeds for layers...and dis is sold for #2,500.yew feed ur birds twice daily...in d morning and in d evening around 5pm.have a steay measurement for their feeds.having a total of 490birds will consume 10bags of feeds in a month exaggeratingly.10bags would then cost #25000 for a month.
Vaccination and multivitamins is given to them once in a month and dis would cost about #2000 exaggeratingly.
Other miscellaneous which could include running costs,exaggeratingly-#10,000.....
INCOME:A crate of quail eggs go for 500 or 600,700 or 800 or 900 or 1000 or 1100 or 1200 or 1300 blah blah blah...depending on d relationship u av wif ur customers...buh let's say u are selling at d lowest price wch is #500...
Now,yew get 10crates daily from ur birds,
7days would give:7 * 10:70crates weekly;70*500:#35,000
31 days make 1month;we have 10crates *31 days:310crates; 310*500:#155,000....this is ur expected income monthly from d sales of only ur eggs.
Now....adding up our total investments so far,we have:#49000+#25000+#2000+10000:#86000...
Now,gain : Income-investment(capital)....#155,000-#86000:#69,000gain.....no tym...lol
Dis #69,000 gain is jes for ur first month...other months would generate double of dat since there would be no need of adding the purchase made on d birds...yew only spend on others;
So other months profit would be #69000+#49000: #118,000....for d subsequent months ahead....mind yew dis illustration was done with the highest of risks...as I calculated profit based on jes 10crates while d birds produce more dan 10crates and the selling price of individual crate was done using d lowest amount....
So yew now see y quail farming is still d most profitable business in agriculture.....jes investing #86,000..

I'm kinda confused with your figures and calculations.... If each quail bird is #1000, then 490birds will be #490,000 but your calculation is saying #49,000 Unless you want to say each bird is #100*490birds--#49,000 or 49birds*#1000-- #49,000. Please correct your figures. Thanks

Op... Invest in d agricultural sector... Locate any good cheap large land n lease or rent it to start cassava farming with other crops like plantain, yam, melon... You can also do a poultry n fish farm... With proper management, you will have a Steady inflow of income cos humans can't do without food... Thanks

ugwum007: Some days ago, I came across a job vacancy post in olx website. I called the phone number stipulated and I was given an address at gbagada industrial estate, lagos. On getting there,it was GNLD office, I kept my cool located the person that gave me the address and for 2hrs I was listening to the usual networking talks only that it was coming from almost a tout (from appearance). When I started asking questions about the whole thing including a olx vacancy post, flyers & posters that had job vacancy opportunities on them, the guy lost his cool and almost bounced on me.

It was around 12 O'clock noon to 1:30pm, cant really remember the time, I was nt feeling too fine so i took sm meds and wanted to lay down when i heard from my neighbor who was a new intake "Bros I beg" I thought it was play bt after hearing it several times, then I come understand say e don happen, then I carried my mini laptop n my new nokia asha I bought previous week to my kitchen and locked myself inside cos there was no way i could run, the next thing I heard was BOOM! on my door, it was not locked n it just opened without stress, then one of them now said " You dey hide abi...?" they now matched my bathroom door, It was empty... then I was already half dead.. they now said again tht if I dont come out, they will shoot the kitchen door, then they started matching the kitchen door and I was supporting it with my hand inside, when they finally open it and I was trying to come out, they now shot me then my spirit come run live my body... I was down for some time I cant remember, Then God woke me up givin me a deep breath... I could only see and hear them faintly sayin where he fone and blood was just spillin from my hand like when you bite a pure water and press the sachet... they thought I was dead and they ran out very fast, after gainin sm strength, I got up and was calling for help, but the 2 new intake tht was in d hostel could not come out cos they hv heard a gun shot then I rush myself to d hospital.... at the end of the day I survived when pple think I will die and my whole body system is working fine... will upload sm picx later..... Glory b to God... God is Gr8, God is wonderful, God is Awesome... halleluya
