I listened to the same analysis but I do not necessarily agree with position that this gives GEJ any political advantage but portrayed him as a weakling. And he (GEJ) will go down in history of Nigeria as the weakest commander-in-chief that stoodby while the people he sworn to protect were been slaughtered.

He needs to act and act fast. If he cannot get through the current military echelon, he is CIC for goodness sake, he should shake up the military and bring into positions people that are ready to do the job for him! He needs to crush the filthy BH with brutal force before this mayhem spread throughout the country.

I guess I am just ranting, he is already on his way out anyway.

EducationRe: Worst Form Of Child Abuse In A Nigerian Private Secondary School*pics by realK:
neocortex:
Because it's a secondary school does not make it right. Discipline shouldn't be enforced by humiliation in front of mates. In fact, research has shown that punishment don't work on children on the long run only listening and reward does. Some of these children you incorrectly labelled "Agberos" could be performing parental roles for their younger ones every morning. They cook, bath and make sure they get to school. I know this because I have observed it firsthand. But no one cares to know why they are late, they are the bad ones in the school and have to be punished. And by the time the punishments are over, these children are exhausted, yet we expect them to learn something in school for that day.
Our school discipline system need to be reformed , we need more listening and less cane.
Whatever; thanks to my teachers for the morning quizzes and koboko, egba atori during my days in public schools. I do not know what could had made me studied so well.

Where the positive reinforcement is not available, doing nothing is much worse. When these students become adults they will have two regrets, for those who changed to worse due to the purnishment, that they wished they had listened and learnt. For those that changed for good, wished they had changed and got the message earlier.

PoliticsRe: When You Are In Lagos, You Are Almost In Nigeria.... Goodluck Jonathan by realK:
@Tranquill, Boar - you guys knew each other before now? Why the fight and name calling? Boar never said anything wrong about analyzing/critiquing president speech's because this is how learning occurs. If you (Tranquill) don't want to, it is all well and good , you have made your point. So, leave him/her alone!

If it is wrong to look at mr. President grammar, then nobody should cry over students' failures in English in their final exams, or teacher in Edo state that could not express herself. Afterall, we are all the same and should not strive to improve ourself by listening and criticizing others.

I hope there is no Student reading posts on nairaland, especially this one.

Please do not change the topic, if I want to talk about development, I sure know my way around to the related topics. It is important that you address the question/concern raised.

the context GEJ used the word was correct.no Hullabaloos about it.
With all due respect sir, the statement is wrong as it conveys a sense of distance from Lagos to Nigeria. It is different from 'when you are in Lagos, you are almost every in Nigeria" which conveys a sense of presence or dominance.

Let us be objective in our comments especially when it comes to assessing grammatical correctness. People outside the country hold Nigerians in high esteem when it come to English Language but the way we are going about it these days leaves much to be desired.
PoliticsRe: When You Are In Lagos, You Are Almost In Nigeria.... Goodluck Jonathan by realK: 6:57am On Oct 05, 2014
Lagos is part of Nigeria and it is wrong to make a statement like "when you are in Lagos, You are almost in Nigeria". This was the effect of direct translation from mother tongue to English.

Put in proper context of campaign, Mr. President should have said 'when you campaign in Lagos, you have almost covered the whole country as there people from all over the country in Lagos'.
