Politics › What Does BBC News Have Against Black Presenters? by redsun(op): 9:25pm On Feb 25, 2010
A few years ago, there use to be some prominent black newscasters and presenters on prime time British Broadcasting Corporation news, presenters like Darren Jordan and Moira Stuart but these days not even a black reporter features on prime time BBC news presentations, except for an entertainment reporter that reports once in a while.

It got me thinking. Is it because black presenters just like black models in fashion world, black actors and actresses in movies don't sell that actually prompted BBC to systematically eliminate all the top of the league black presenters in their corporation?

Just like in the british police,i can smell a strong reign of institutional racism in BBC or could there be any cogent reason why there are no black presenters on BBC news crew?

What else is new?

Instead of throwing tantrums like an invalid, why not just stay out of grown people's talk?
You should be happy it's just tantrum, don't you what most of you guys do deserve neck tie?Kpeme by hanging.

I am not still calling Fashola a thief though but at the same time his decision not to open up and prove the so-called castigators wrong is questionable.

Democrazy the say is the government of people,by the people and for the people.Like a trader will say, customers are never wrong.

When the universities was producing those kinda people, the students were only worried about having fun and being rascal, and those days are gone, the students now want a share of the national cake.
The students now wanna run out of Nija and all that, cos now it is survival of the fittest and no one wanna be known for being a good boy anymore.
But what the education all about then?Education is suppose to nurture people to create,to built,to establish and multiply,it is a state of fearlessness and state of delving into the unknown

What can the hungry students do?
Disillusioned,eeh?.

The era of studentship that produced men like Wole Soyinka,Tai solarin,Chukwuma Nzeogwu,The Kutis dem and co was an era of vision and reasoning,it was an era where students chart their destinies because they are endowed with knowledge as a result of education ,even at secondary level.

But what we have in nigeria today as students even at university level are like bosom feeding babies that can't even see that the people they call leaders are their enemies that must be taken out by all means possible for them to be able to forge ahead and realize their destinies, rather they see the wayward, senseless, dubious and heartless generation of present leaders in nigeria as ELDERS that must respected and followed like zombies all because they don't have minds of their own as suppose intellectuals, they seem lost without the failed generation ahead.

Knowledge they say is power, but in nigeria it is otherwise.Education is freedom, education is decision making, education is leadership, education is selflessness, education is sacrifice, education is revolutionary and above all it is evolutionary.

At this time of instant media communication, where the world watches every move at every corner of the earth in an instant,an organized mass student protest can ground the country to a halt and make animals that call themselves nigerian leaders see differently.

Stating what you want the state government to account for like I asked would have sufficed instead of recycling the same weak and irrelevant nonsense.

You don't have to call people names to make your point if you truly believe in your argument, your childish name calling only exposes your shortcomings and lack of any form of ability to engage civilly and function in public like an adult with manners and good home training.

I'm sure your mama didn't teach to be rude in public and call people names, @ least I hope.
Manners, you are a typical nigerian with manners, like a white sepulcher, glamorous outside but stinkingly rotten inside.
Politics › Where Are Nigerian Students When They Are Most Needed? by redsun(op): 2:13pm On Feb 24, 2010
Why are nigerian students so sheepishly silent with the abominations going on the country? Why can't they roar up and bring about the much needed change in that country and let the world watch and see how many the government will kill.

The youths are said be the future of tomorrow but nigerian youths are as disillusion and placid as broken creatures.

Oh,what a hopeless situation.

He that sows sparsely reaps sparsely.Nigeria case is a vicious circle, every body is corrupt and it goes around like a boomerang.Only the very young children are innocent until they grow up to join the rat race and the circle continues.

The baba alaye is nothing but a conniving sycophant with the mentality far beyond(in reverse) that of the stone age man who was in his own rights was idealistic and futuristic, hence our presence in the world today.

But someone like babapupa has nothing to contribute to the society but backwardness and miseries,he is always out to defend fashola even when an idiot can see some thing is amiss.

If Fahola is that revolutionary in his dealings, why is he  afraid of transparency and independent auditing of spendings?I use to be his fan up till this moment but just because nigerians are not use to responsible government, any one eyed leader can just put in a little and take out alot without the stack blind even noticing because they can't see in the first place.

Lagos is about the only reformed and updated taxing system in nigeria and for the fact that the people are duly paying their taxes,it's their due right to get answers from the government as regards the spending of their money when needed,it is not about ego or victimization but about saying it and doing it as it should.A government without strict checks and balances is no govenrment, that is why nigerian leaders have been getting away with murders so far.But for how long will the blind remain blind?

To whom much is given, much is expected from and to who gives more, more should be given back to.

Every dog has its day.The time has come that nigerians can no longer be deceived any more, people can only be foolish for a while  and at the appointed time, awareness will take its cause and this is the time.

There are very little rooms for corrupt individuals in nigeria right now.As bad as it may seem,it is the beginning of a new dawn.

Instead of your pointless rants and bungled analogies, why not just state in plain English what you want the Governor to account for if accountability is so much important to you.

For starters,

Lagos state is a Yoruba state.

The Language is overwhelmingly Yoruba

The Government is overwhelmingly Yoruba

The language of deliberation at the state house is Yoruba

The cities, streets, towns and villages all have Yoruba names

The Arts, music, culture and traditions is Yoruba

There are Obas in Lagos state, not seriki or sultan, not Igwe or eze

I know it sounds good to say and as a Nigerian, you have every right to call any corner of Nigeria home, just don't forget for a second that Lagos state is a Yoruba state and folks from other state and countries love Lagos state because of the loving people of the great state of Lagos, their communal spirit, sense of togetherness and hospitality.

About what you like or don't like, please spare us the meaningless rant. Gari and epa is not for everybody and Lagos state is no forcing any Nigeria to stay in Lagos state or Love Lagos state. If Lagos state is not doing it for you, there are 36 states in Nigeria, freeking buy a train ticket to next state.

Life is too short my friend, keep your rubbish to yourself and go spend your time worrying about Your home state governors and their huge foreign bank accounts and backward towns and villages,
You failed to mention lagos was the federal capital of the federal republic of nigeria, ode.I bet the privileges of constant invitations to owanbes as an area boy have shut you off from from reality as always.

This bolded quote, more than anything else you have said, shows your ignorance nakedly for the whole world to see. Do you know that the first trunk A road in Nigeria is in Lagos? Do you know that it was built during colonial timeshuh No, not by your gods, the oyinbos, but by indigenes of Ikorodu and other Ijebus, after the white man told them point blank to their faces that he was not here to give them infrastructure. I happen to know this because I am a descendant of one of those brave indigenes of Lagos state that put ALL their money on the line to save their people from the hazard of drowning while travelling to Lagos by boat.

Walahi, you have just given more justification to the argument that some Easterners do not really belong in Lagos and do not really have the best interest of Lagos state and indigenes of Lagos State at heart.

Truly, if you do not like the obvious work that Governor Fashola is doing with YOUR taxes, please, take your filthy money to your state and go and donate it to your thieving governors who will then proceed to whip your ungratefull backside with a cat-o-nine-tails, aka, Koboko.

I really hate to have to educate ignoramuses like you, but if you need further clarification of the fact that Lagos ONLY began to evolve after the exit of the colonialists, I will be glad to oblige. yeyenatu!!!

And don't let the door hit you on the way out. Afori omo!!!
Talking to a backward minded person like you is a waste of my precious time,if in the 21st century world people like you don't know the significance of a clean street, talk less of monumental edifices and structures that makes up rational humans habitations.

Cities are built to glorify man's abilities to organize and live communally as a society in a wider scale with basic amenities and infrastructures intact but not without accountabilities and responsibilities to the people who made it possible with their contributions. If the people are responsible and accountable enough to pay their taxes, the govenrment on her side should be able to give account to the last dime as regards what the money is spent on.

To be a leader is not a privilege to exploit the people as the case of nigeria but a selfless sacrifice to serve,Fashola is not doing something extraordinary,he is doing what he is elected to do and should be bounded by the law of the land
Politics › Re: The Cries Of A Fed Up Lagosian by redsun(m): 9:05pm On Feb 23, 2010
Until the yorubas break off from nigeria, lagos,in as much as it could be termed a mega slum, remains a bonafide city in nigeria and it belongs to nigerian, especially the players that makes the money roll, not for area boys and girls aka the otimkpus.

I personally can't live in a polluted and chaotic city like lagos, but i can have my activities there, whenever and wherever i want and can afford because it is a state in nigeria.

Lagos seized to exist as an evolving city when the oyinbos and the only thing that can bring it back to cause is strict accountabilities and responsibilities on the side of all, especially the leaders.

This is way way off santimonious talk.

It doesn't matter who Lagos belongs to, it's still  not by force to stay and call home a place you hate and dislike so much.

If you live in a bad neighborhood and have the means to move to a better neighborhood, God bless your hearth and move. Why needlessly suffer and complain when no one  is forcing you to stay.

It's not about who a place belongs to, it's about you excising your given rights to make adult decisions about your own life, peace and security.
Alaye,i probably have more genuine interest in lagos than you.We all know Fashola is relatively good, but half good is not good enough,if he has nothing to fear, then opening the state expenditures to independent auditors and watchdogs should be the least of his problems.

One KOBO of public fund misappropriated or mismanage  by public servants is an abuse of office, there are no two ways about it.It may sound strange to you because nigeria is a lawless country but that is the way it is in the real world.
Politics › Re: No Data Record In Nigeria by redsun(m): 3:16pm On Feb 23, 2010
Why the surprise?nigeria is still in a normadic stage. It takes advancing minds to move from hunters gathering clusters to villages, from villages to towns, towns to cities, cities to states, states to regions and regions to countries.

The need to integrate and develop comes with the inquisitiveness of the mind to make greater contributions and impacts in the society for the good of all,the need to control and make whole based on human reasoning.

Show me a tribalist,i will show you a redundant minded person.

Sometimes you guys forget that the diverse population of lagos is what makes it tick.Lagos belongs to nobody but those that have interest in lagos and that includes everybody from all the nooks and crannies of africa not just nigeria.

This mindset of hunter gatherers should be stamped out from you people for us to move on.

Nigerians are hunter gatherers,a people without  a sense community, living like the stone age people, hunting, looting and gathering what belongs to the populace for themselves. All man for himself and the devil for all us is the typical nigerian slogan.

People perish for lack of knowledge,a mist of fundamental ignorance is hanging over the whole nation and worst of all the people fail to acknowledge or rather realize they are in the dark.

Do nigerian leaders really deserve the title His excellency?or is it just a question of not understanding the language we speak that seems to have made us dormant in all aspect of every day life due to the fact that we don't grasp the meanings of the words we use?

We tend to say things because others say it without understanding why.Referring to thieves as his excellency by suppose learned individuals is just as dumb as it can get

well i guess a lifetime in a UK jail seemed better than life in 9ja for this guy.

hey, at least he is going to have 3 warm meals a day, a warm bed to sleep in and become someone's b.i.t.c.h for the next 16yrs.
As sick as the whole incident may be,in reality uk jail is far better than average life style and habitations in places like lagos slums or any other nigerian city slums.

The guy should rightly be placed in a mental institution not a regular jail,he is crazy, anybody that can hurt a child is crazy, including parents and guardians that abuse children physically in the name of discipline like we commonly have in nigeria.
