Young man... Find something to do to start with.....learn a skill first... So you can be generating income.... From what I can see money and dependency on parents is the issue... If you start making money.... You can take part-time courses for degree sake.... Like in unizik we have what we call CEP for part time students.... But it's for non professional courses (like business courses).... You can still get your life on the right track, get married, and still get a degree....
You can have it all....

If you use this year to next year October to get a skill you can use remotely like internet marketing, programming and the rest... You can start getting small cash.... Before October next year you have enough to register for part time..... You go to school only Fridays and Saturdays (for 6yrs tho)....
You receive clients and get paid...
You keep ur relationship....
Ur parents are happy
You are happy... This isn't a big problem you just lacked information
Thanks God bless. I'll sit him down and discuss this with him. If I should learn a skill (tailoring), I believe he can set me up with my business when I'm done learning.
CareerNairalanders should come to my Rescue. Tough decision to make or mar my life by Reecelampard00(op):
Pls I need you guys to advice me. I've been an active nairalander since 2010 so I guess I am part of the family already, though I just created this account for some privacy issue.

My stories are long but I'm just going to be kinda straight forward with it. I'm 26 yrs old from the eastern part of the country, I graduated from high school some years ago, I proceeded to Unilag but was expelled from sch for impersonation in my final year(early 2015). I didn't notify my parents about the expulsion but my dad got to know when I was due for NYSC(late 2016) but I wasn't forthcoming with any news about it. He was mad for a while but took it as God's will.

He's a Chartered Accountant so he wants me to be educated at all cost. I told him I was tired of going back to uni in Nigeria (late 2016) and he agreed with me to go study abroad. He contacted a travel agent, I wrote some exams(TOEFL&IELTS) and I did well but as the embassy people would have it I got denied thrice.

After counting his losses coupled with providing for my other siblings and some other running bills local man decided that I should stay back in Nigeria to study.

I used to be a commercial student in Uni but decided to change course, so I opted for LAW. Wrote Waec and Jamb this year, I scored 285 in jamb but my Literature In Eng bleeped me up, I'll probably be writing Neco GCE this Nov/Dec. Now he wants me to attend a neco/gce/jamb lesson at all cost which is a total *NO NO NO* for me.

Here is my concern; if I should go back to university to study Law, I'll be at least 36 yrs when I'm done considering Nigeria education factors. Also considering the facts that NBA produces thousands of lawyers annually and the junior lawyers are low paid, I think the profession isn't that lucrative anymore.

Then, I have a serious relationship with a girl I met in uni back then, she's done with youth service and already working with a reputable company. If I should go back to uni I think I will surely jeopardize the relationship, mind u she's 23yrs old now.

Now, I'm thinking if I should run away from home to stay with my friend. My friend is in a neighboring country, he's into computer programming and he's making some real cash. So I'm thinking if I should go meet him and learn some stuffs, I already also make some monies online doing legit stuffs here. I think I can always go back to sch(part time bc of certificate though).

If I should tell him about travelling to meet a friend, he's never going to give me a green light. So I think I should just drop a note when leaving home.

Nairalanders, should I run away from home to hustle my way out or I should listen to my dad by going back to uni for another 7-9 years.

Thanks.
