mercylicious: The poster is on point. There are men dt are so proud with so much ego dt they want to be d oga at d top at all times. They want to take care of all expense even though the babe has a job and can contribute. For such a man, make him feel as he wants to. Let him do d expense while u stash ur cash in d bank. grin . They will likely borrow money frm you than have u take d expense. Such men make sure they pay u back all lent money. My dad was like dt.
Sounds weird to me, but different things for different folks. I cant imagine myself in that kind of a scenario...neither will i have to borrow from my wife(if am broke) for an household task...if am broke and she has and cant do the task without lending to me, she probably has to move out next day.(She probably sounds self-centered to me)

gluv01: Ok mr man, there are some men who have an ego for being 'the man' over the woman. They feel if they let a woman do something for them it will be backfired because the woman will see them as weak vessels(financially). And no man wants that.
It happens everyday, and as a lady, I can tell you, once a woman starts giving cash to a man, quote me well, love cannot sustain that relationship for long o. Infact forget the love, he is ultimately downgraded in her sight. But for the reason being she loves him, she keeps mute or uses actions to say she is not comfortable being with hm again.

She will feel she has the right to come back late without being questioned.
She has the right to be seen with another guy holding hands, in the presence of her man even though they are not dating.
She even feels she has the right to treat him anyhow(in her mind; after all what does he do for me?)
These are the things and more that men avoid to keep their ego. They rather steal to provide than let the woman do it. I've seen it, and some have gone to jail for it.
Possibly the society maybe? relationship is about shared responsibility not about man does 100% woman does 0%. And what does she end up spending her money on if i may ask?
Me and my wife have our part of tasks to do, and i don't see her exhibiting any of those signs above.

I mean really this sounds like a breaking news to see guys saying they will borrow from their wives when she can afford to pay for the task..

This part definately makes no sense, Why a lady wants to rent the apartment for both of you, how does that translate to being the boss? and why does she have to borrow her hubby money to rent apartment they both will be living in?

"

No. 3 - When you play the boss.
Sometime ago, i heard a lady telling her man: "baby, don't worry, i will rent the apartment for us" Oh no, you just killed his ego! How about: "baby, i will lend you the money to rent the apartment but you will pay back" and if he doesn't, at least you never wanted a pay-back at first. Let him be in-charge of taking sensitive decisions."

I have watched all previous 5 releases in the Harry Potter series and all 5 stand out as one of the best movies i have watched of all time.
However after watching "half blood prince" i felt it was really a bad idea spliting "book 6" into two parts.
I actually saw it as unnecessarily strechted, felt i wasted my fucking time. I didnt see anything about either romance, not much action, no magic, no suspense. i actually had to sleep 2ice in between the movie cos it didnt make any sense to me.

Am i the only one that feels the way? or does anyone feel differently?

these people are no terrorists, the way they are going about claiming their rights might be wrong but it doesnt make them terrorist. you have to understand them before you start judging them.
the americans are not bothered about the interests there . trust me they are happy that the problem is happening (and it seems they are encouraging it ) where do you think the money for the weapons is coming from? who do you think is paying these people? Do you think they would be bombing oil facilities if they are not benefiting from it?

He has Avast Antivirus on his system .He was able to view this folder about 2 weeks ago.

Anyway i checked the Event Viewer and noticed the antivirus has had problem scanning a particular folder in the past 2 weeks so i deleted the folder.

I have tried System Restoring, Enabling File and Printer Sharing in the Windows Firewall.
Uninstalling the antivirus didnt solve the problem
I also tried creating another user to see if this will solve it. But it didnt.

Whats puzzling me is i can view the number of files and folder on the Admin account but on the Guest account its 0files 0folders

ComputersApril Fools Day Computer Worm(no Joke) by regaltopax(op): 2:40pm On Mar 28, 2009
CNN) -- A computer-science detective story is playing out on the Internet as security experts try to hunt down a worm called Conficker C and prevent it from damaging millions of computers on April Fool's Day.

This piece of computer code tells the worm to activate on April 1, 2009, researchers at CA found.

The anti-worm researchers have banded together in a group they call the Conficker Cabal. Members are searching for the malicious software program's author and for ways to do damage control if he or she can't be stopped.

They're motivated in part by a $250,000 bounty from Microsoft and also by what seems to be a sort of Dick Tracy ethic.

"We love catching bad guys," said Alvin Estevez, CEO of Enigma Software Group, which is one of many companies trying to crack Conficker. "We're like former hackers who like to catch other hackers. To us, we get almost a feather in our cap to be able to knock out that worm. We slap each other five when we're killing those infections."

The malicious program already is thought to have infected between 5 million and 10 million computers.

Those infections haven't spawned many symptoms, but on April 1 a master computer is scheduled to gain control of these zombie machines, said Don DeBolt, director of threat research for CA, a New York-based IT and software company.

What happens on April Fool's Day is anyone's guess.

Don't Miss
$250K Microsoft bounty to catch worm creator
Downadup virus exposes millions of PCs to hijack
The program could delete all of the files on a person's computer, use zombie PCs -- those controlled by a master -- to overwhelm and shut down Web sites or monitor a person's keyboard strokes to collect private information like passwords or bank account information, experts said.

More likely, though, said DeBolt, the virus may try to get computer users to buy fake software or spend money on other phony products.

Experts said computer hackers largely have moved away from showboating and causing random trouble. They now usually try to make money off their viral programs.

DeBolt said Conficker C imbeds itself deep in the computer where it is difficult to track. The program, for instance, stops Windows from conducting automatic updates that could prevent the malware from causing damage.

The program's code is also written to evolve over time and its author appears to be making updates to thwart some of the Conficker Cabal's attempts to neuter the worm.

"It is very much a cat and mouse game," DeBolt said.

It's unclear who wrote the program, but members of the Cabal are looking for clues.

First, they know that some recent malware programs have come from Eastern European countries outside the jurisdiction of the European Union, said Patrick Morganelli, senior vice president of technology for Enigma Software.

Worm program authors often hide in those countries to stay out of sight from law enforcement, he said.

In a way, the Conficker Cabal is also looking for the program author's fingerprints. DeBolt said security researchers are looking through old malware programs to see if their programming styles are similar to that of Conficker C.

The prospects for catching the program's author are not good, Morganelli said.

"Unless they open their mouth, they'll never be found," he said.

So, the most effective counter-assault simply may be damage control.

One quick way to see if your computer has been infected is to see if you have gotten automatic updates from Windows in March. If so, your computer likely is fine, DeBolt said.

Microsoft released a statement saying the company "is actively working with the industry to mitigate the spread of the worm."

Users who haven't gotten the latest Windows updates should go to http://safety.live.com if they fear they're infected, the company's statement says.

DeBolt said people who use other antivirus software should check to make sure they've received the latest updates, which also could have been disabled by Conficker C.

The first version of Conficker -- strain A -- was released in late 2008.

That version used 250 Web addresses -- generated daily by the system -- as the means of communication between the master computer and its zombies.

The end goal of the first line was to sell computer users fake antivirus software, said Morganelli.

Computer security experts largely patched that problem by working with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers to disable or buy the problematic URLs, he said.

That process-of-elimination approach isn't likely to be effective with Conficker strain C, Morganelli said. The new version will generate 50,000 URLs per day instead of just 250 when it becomes active, DeBolt said.

The first iteration of Conficker is thought to have grown out of a free function for security programs created by Dr. Ronald Rivest, a computer science professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"Any technology can be used for good or evil, and this is just an example of that," Rivest said.

Many viruses have taken pieces of benevolent programs and used them for ill. But overall the "open source" environment online promotes computer security far more than it enables hackers, DeBolt said.

"I don't blame the open-source community at all" for virus attacks, he said.

CA said it recently found a piece of code in Conficker C that says the worm will become active on April 1. Previous versions of the malicious software launched on specific dates noted in the program code, so the April Fool's Day launch date is not likely to be a trick, DeBolt said.

"The best minds in the industry are working on this to protect customers," he said. "We're trying to reduce the impact of the April 1 date as best we can. But we know , this malware will continue to evolve."

ComputersKoobface, Other Worms Target Facebook Friends by regaltopax(op): 10:24am On Mar 07, 2009
As Facebook works to make itself more relevant and timely for its growing member base with a profile page makeover, attackers seem to be working overtime to steal the identities of the friends, fans and brands that connect though the social-networking site.

Indeed, Facebook has seen five different security threats in the past week. According to Trend Micro, four new hoax applications are attempting to trick members into divulging their usernames and passwords. And a new variant of the Koobface worm is running wild on the site, installing malware on the computers of victims who click on a link to a fake YouTube video.

The Koobface worm is dangerous. It can be dropped by other malware and downloaded unknowingly by a user when visiting malicious Web sites, Trend Micro reports. When attackers execute the malware, it searches for cookies created by online social networks. The latest variant is targeting Facebook, but earlier variants have also plagued MySpace.

Koobface's Wicked Agenda

Once Koobface finds the social-networking cookies, it makes a DNS query to check IP addresses that correspond to remote domains. Trend Micro explains that those servers can send and receive information about the affected machine. Once connected, the malicious user can remotely perform commands on the victim's machine.

"Once cookies related to the monitored social-networking Web sites are located, it connects to these Web sites using the user log-in session stored in the cookies. It then navigates through pages to search for the user's friends. If a friend has been located, it sends an HTTP POST request to the server," Trend Micro reports.

Ultimately, the worm's agenda is to transform the victim's computer into a zombie and form botnets for malicious purposes. Koobface attempts to do this by composing a message and sending it to the user's friends. The message contains a link to a Web site where a copy of the worm can be downloaded by unsuspecting friends. And the cycle repeats itself.

An Attractive Face(book)

Malware authors are investing more energy in Facebook and other social-networking sites because that effort pays off, according to Michael Argast, a security analyst at Sophos. Facebook alone has more than 175 million users, which makes it an attractive target.

"Many computer users have been conditioned not to open an attachment from an e-mail or click a link found within, but won't think twice about checking out a hot new video linked to by a trusted friend on Facebook," Argast said.

Argast called the Koobface worm a mix of something old and something new. The new is using social networks as a method to spread malware. The old is using fake codec Trojans linked to a saucy video to induce the user to install the malware.

Argast said people can protect themselves by running up-to-date antivirus software, restricting which Facebook applications they install, thinking twice before clicking on links from friends and never, never installing a codec from some random Web site in the hopes of catching some celebrity in a compromised situation.

"I would expect to see more attacks on Facebook," Argast said. "As long as this is a successful propagation method, the bad guys will double down and invest more. They are entirely motivated by financial gain. If it pays, they'll continue to romp in your social playgrounds."

PoliticsPower Probe: Efcc Arrests Agagu by regaltopax(op): 9:28pm On Feb 28, 2009
There were indications on Friday that a former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, may be arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Agagu’s imminent arrest is in connection with his role as the Minister of Power and Steel under former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, during which $16 billion was allegedly spent on electricity generation projects without results.

Also, Agagu is wanted by the EFCC to give account of his six years leadership in Ondo State, which ended last Tuesday, when the Court of Appeal in Benin, upheld the nullification of his election by the State Election Petitions Tribunal, chaired by Justice Garuba Nabaruma.

The EFCC had in the twilight of Agagu’s tenure stopped the cashing of about N14bn cheques issued in respect of some contracts allegedly awarded hurriedly, just as freezing of the accounts of  Ondo State was Governor Segun Mimiko’s first action, shortly after being sworn- in on Wednesday.

Although the House of Representatives is yet to debate and adopt the report submitted by the Ndudi Elumelu-chaired power committee, sources close to the EFCC told Saturday Punch on Friday in Abuja, that Agagu would be required to provide answers to a litany of allegations levelled against him during the House power probe. A final report of the probe submitted to the House allegedly indicted him.

An EFCC source said, “Yes, we are going to ask him some questions. This is the right time for him to get himself to clear his name, that he was not one of those that messed up our power industry. Before, as a governor, there was nothing we could do. But now that his immunity has expired, he would need to clear himself once and for all.

“It is not that we have found him guilty, but the former governor must come and explain the role he played while he was a minister.”

The source said that would not be the only issue that the commission would take up with Agagu. It would also ask him to explain some of his actions while in office.

For example, the former governor, the source said, would be expected to clarify some of the contracts he hurriedly awarded while the case concerning his removal from office was pending at the appellate court.

The EFCC had on Wednesday January 14, 2009 raised the alarm on the plan of the Agagu administration to spend about N8bn from the state’s treasury through, the award of contracts.

The Elumelu committee had focused on spending in the power sector between 1997 and 2007. It had recommended that the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission should further probe and if need be, prosecute all those indicted.

Also recommended for probe are the governor of Cross River State, Mr. Liyel Imoke, and other former ministers who presided over the power sector.

When Agagu appeared before the House panel, he said the $16bn that the House had claimed was spent was no big deal.

It was, however, gathered that the EFCC, which had earlier interrogated Agagu while he was still governor, was not satisfied with his testimony as he was said to have answered only the questions that he liked and parried others.

The commission, it was further learnt, felt that there was a need for him to provide answers to other salient questions and would have arrested him before now but for the immunity that he enjoyed while he held sway as the governor.

In the course of the commission’s investigation, it arrested the General Manager of SCC Nigeria Limited, one of the companies allegedly involved in some contracts in the state. The commission had claimed that Agagu’s efforts to spend N8bn began shortly after the state Election Petitions Tribunal nullified his election was unpleasant.

A source from the commission had told our correspondent then that it was in a bid to carry out its investigation that the commission invited the General Manager of one of the companies handling the projects in contention.

The government was also alleged to have awarded a contract to SCC Nigeria Limited for Owena Water Transmission Project for about N14.4bn.

According to the commission, out of the total amount, the Ondo State Ministry of Works paid N3.8bn as mobilisation fees to the contractor.

The EFFC, therefore, went ahead to stop the issuance of the cheque, which was supposed to be paid by Zenith Bank Plc. The EFCC also invited the contractor handling the completion of the Owena Multipurpose Dam project in Ondo State.

An Israeli, Mr. Y. Levi, who is the General Manager of the SCC Construction Company handling the N14.4bn contract, was also invited to the Abuja office of the EFCC.

The project, initiated in 1971 by the Western Region, is said to be a joint project between the Federal Government and the Ondo State Government.

The project was inaugurated by Obasanjo in April 2007, but the state government said that it would spend N14.4bn on the project.
