PoliticsRe: Photo Of President Buhari & Osinbajo Smiling Before His Departure To London by regent: 9:52am On May 08, 2017
hucienda:
I made it clear I don't support most of his policies - so what are you saying? When he does well, I commend him. When doesn't I criticise.

The last post refers to insults to the office of the presidency. So what's your grouse there? Didn't the APC denigrate the office with the last occupant? The APC started what they could not finish that's why you see demeaning insults to President Buhari as was the case with President Jonathan. I respect the office and so would not insult the president whether I support him or not - that's my conviction, but others may not be so generous since they might want to collect their pound of flesh - and the vicious circle continues.

I would vote Peter should he contest - no questions asked. His ideology is more of fiscal conservatism which is more or less in line with Atiku's whom I also said is one northerner I could vote for. I don't support blatant welfarism and economics with a socialist bent which looks like the hallmark of President Buhari and the APC at the centre. That is why were I American for example, my natural home would be the Republican Party or a Brit, the Conservative Party and so on. Not like the average Nigerian whose politics is to support someone because 'na my broda' with her politicians changing parties the way they change undies daily. So M. Progressive01, what is your political philosophy?

Finally, that post is directed to hypocrites in your camp who want to depose a legitimately elected president of his mandate through the back door. Their tongues are publicly with the president but their hearts are far off.
I liked your post not because I agree with all you said but it's refreshing to see someone as well informed and articulate as you are on this forum. Its a welcome departure from the tribalists and nepotics that habe almost taken over nairaland. Im more drawn to democrats though because of their stand on social issues. I think the GOP has been taken over by the neurotic, lying and hypocritical trump gang.

Was there a permit for the protest?
living under successive Milads for so long has affected the psyche and mentality of many folks such that we are soo ignorant (or deliberately indifferent) about the content of the constitution as it relates to us as law abiding citizens.
news flash: u can protest anything/anyone etc as long as you just inform the police. You don't need a permit to stage a peaceful protest. comprendes??
PoliticsRe: Soldiers Sleeping On The Ground, Beside 'Their Graves' (Photos) by regent: 2:41pm On Feb 10, 2017
blackboy:
Soldier express your grievances to your superiors. You signed for the job. I had the same opportunity to join many years back when I thought I could be part of those one day who will say fellow Nigerians but I did not enlist due to the fact 1. I never wanted to do what you are doing now. It comes with the job. You didn't enlist to be staying in 5 star hotels. Airline pilots did. 2. I did not want to continue wearing uniform all through my adult life after doing so from primary school.
I respect soldiers but don't express your grievances on civilians. No one forced you to join. God bless
What more can I say! If we all become soldiers, who becomes the lawyer, engineer, pharmacist etc. I respect their service but he should be more civil.
Christianity EtcRe: Winners Chapel Member Commits Suicide In Benin Church by regent: 9:06am On Feb 06, 2017
HungerBAD:
Suicide is always not an option.

No matter what anybody is going through in life, it is important one chooses life over death. This very suicide is even a strange one, considering the fact that the Police Report (PRO) indicated the deceased is even a Pastor.

Should i say RIP to the Pastor?no. There are those that have H.I.V and still chose life over suicide. There are those who lost all their families in road accidents, or one tragic way or the other and still chose life over suicide. There are those who lost everything in business and became homeless, and still chose life over suicide.

Suicides is for Cowards looking for a shortcut to escape responsibilities.

If he is a father, he has selfishly denied his children the care, love and security only a father can contribute into his children's life. If he is a husband, he has selfishly denied a wife the love, comfort, security and a soul mate only a husband can bring. And to his family at large, he has created a void so big, it will never be able to heal.

Now to the Church. This is where Religion and Tradition is about to clash, as those familiar with the Benin Culture, knows there is no way that "Winners Chapel Branch" will be able to open its church door, without them either carrying out the sacrifice or paying for the sacrifice to be carried out, as the orders of the palace is law in Benin.

Or alternatively, they can close shop. But, i will follow this matter to the ending, out of curiosity to see if "Winners Chapel" will offer some Sacrificial stuff to the gods.

When we forego our ability to empathize with others we lose our humanity. Your blanket statement about suicide being for cowards is insensitive at its best. Are u a MPH.? What do u know about mental illnesses? Do u know anyone/people very close to u that have indulged in suicide or even attempted it? Do u know what it takes to bring an individual to a point where he/she feels that all hope is lost.
I concede that the act is wrong and some are just selfish acts to get away from pressurised environments. But until you evaluate each individual act and determine the person's motivation, just be a little more humane. Judge not so u won't be judged
