I couldn't have said it better myself. I expect next administration to reverse any shoddy sales by GEJ administration. That is why I am rooting for APC to nominate someone like Amaechi as part of the ticket. Amaechi knows where to hurt these miscreants in government.

what have you benefitted from the refineries as a nigerian now that it is still a government property let me answer 'nothing' right? These same cronies have been running and sabotaging these refineries. Is it not better to sell it to them once and for all.... According to dettol it would be 'one less thing to worry about'

nigeria would have been boasting as one the most developed politics in the world.... If not for the coup. Democracy is a dynamic form of governance which means even if it seems bad their tendencies i would get better compared to the rigid form of military or dictatrial government. This is the more reason we have to protect our current democratic government no matter how it may seem @ the present

Politics / Re: The Dangote Checkmate And How The 2015 Elections Will Play Out - Dele Momodu by rej00: 10:07pm On Dec 28, 2013
usmanspihn: I have been following the trend of Nigerian politics for a
while especially since the inception of the PDP's internal
crisis and the merger of ACN, CPC and some other
political parties with the most important goal of
defeating the PDP in the next election which seems like
the best visible way to do that. 'The merger'.
When they came they started highlighting the evil of
the PDP as a whole which comprises of those in power
from the grass root to the federal level. Sure they
painted the pictures right and actually they got what
they wanted but how exactly are they different if the
people the claim to be bad are the ones defecting to the
'saviour' party.
Nigerians fail to see the clearer picture here. This is
absolute black propaganda and the people they claim to
lead are being misled. I am no loyalist to any party and
don't wish to be in the nearest future but PDP has been
on for quite a long time and the phenomenon ACN just
came into being but practically has been around. We
have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of PDP but
can we say that with ACN yes I think. It is the same
people that have ruled, governed and stuffs that are
there.
So if the defector from the PDP are bad as being
claimed by ACN, then it simply means that ACN is bad.
MY VIEWS

nice observation you made.. As a follower of nigeria politics, i also share your sentiment that APC is bad as well....
Here is the truth nigeria is corrupt and bad from Aso rock to borders in cross river.. From churches to mosques, from PDP to APC.
Taking corruption to be a constant phenomenom i am very delighted @ the emergence of APC because we now have two groups which like the law of gravity is corrupt and selfish checkmating each other unlike before now that PDP had the monopoly of looting. Interest is now divided for a truce to be reached, don't loot and i will not loot would have to be agreed and guess who win.... The corrupt nigerian masses doing their petty corrupt practises.

Would you kindly explain to us the effect of last year's ban on importation of rice, so far? If you admit that the results we are seeing now is not what was expected, what would you have changed in the manner of the implementation of that policy.

the effect of banning rice? For the first time since my birth, i eat a well packaged made in nigeria rice by 'honeywell' for christmas. Interestinly it was very tasty, non sticky and generaly vry good quality. Nigeria can produce goods that can stand german quality. Have u used made in aba leather shoes before? You will wear it untill u get tired and throw them off.

Politics / Re: It Doesn't Make Sense, Nollywood more Important than North East to GEJ by rej00: 11:45am On Dec 25, 2013
Eze Promoe: Nollywood raises more revenue, and its a big plus for the Nigerian economy but the North East supply us with appalling numbers of terrorists each year, hence killing the economy.

Nollywood creates jobs for our youth, while the North East creates a suitable environment for the maiming of our youths.

Nollywood is Africa's biggest film industry while North East is the unsafest place in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Nollywood needs more attention because it brings Nigeria in good light, the same image that the North East have tainted with Boko Haram identity.

So you see, Nollywood is of a million importance than the whole North East and North West. SO DEAL WITH IT.

MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH FRESH AIR!

i thought the north-east is allergic to development....... Tell your people to stop killing yourselves... Boko haram is like sombody carrying a gun and shooting himself in the leg.
I wish they didnt receive a dim untill they learn the importance of peace

juman: But why should nigerians be committed to this senseless country, a country that betrayed us?

how can a country be senseless?, and how can a country betray some. Nigeria is made up of nigerians. It is peopl who betray people and its people like your type that is senseless....
A man builds a bungalow and while sleeping @ night, the building caught fire and was thoroughly burnt..... This man when he discovers his woes even though in tears would look for all means to rebuild his home. Its only a foolish man that would say my house is burnt let me go and live with my cousins without doing anything to rebuild his home. This country may be horribly bad... I was born to a disadvantaged country but i am very proud because i have better opportunity to leave a lasting mark in history which young ones from other developed world definitly lacks. I love nigeria

Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Economy Largest In Africa As Rebasing Boosts GDP To $405bn by rej00: 5:33pm On Dec 23, 2013
this is for those comparing naija with SA, honestly i think south africa is still ahead in terms of living standard but there are some points i want to raise here. Nigeria was under a military rule for about 30yrs. These leaders never had insight in developing the economy, they never built infracstures and fortunately they didnt deprived nigerians of their freedom like education, businesses and many other rights but the economy and infracstures was not encouraging that is beside a functional democracy. Little wonder that in just 10yrs of democracy whr the government are trying their best to fix the economic and infracstural deficite(which is not even upto average) there is improvement of over 200%..... Meanwhile south africans battled appertheid for almost the same number of yrs but the difference was their economy was functional during this period infact all the infracsture boast of now was built mainly during the apertheid era..... In conclusion, the south africans are a little bit disadvantaged in the long run because unlike nigerians, majority of their population were deprived of their basic rights like education, enterpreneurship and business ventures but this factors maybe insignificant if they are abe to encourage more people in having education and inspire the spirit of adventurism which majority of nigerians possess. If their government can drive this initiative the future would be bright. As for the living standard in nigeria, we need to do more because for every one south african there 3 nigerians.
Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Economy Largest In Africa As Rebasing Boosts GDP To $405bn by rej00: 5:04pm On Dec 23, 2013
having lived in lagos and dubai for a couple of years, i can authoritativly say things are improving in naija. And even if nigeria's rebased economy is about $405B i still believe its a far cry from the reality. Why? Because nigeria's informal economy is far more larger than the formal sector even if not in monetary terms but in number of businesses. Example, in my current town of residence, for every teacher, banker, and others who pay taxes and have records of incomes there dozens more traders, artisans, faarmers and others who dont pay taxes and the government does not have records of income. As a matter of fact there are very few formal sectors workers that own a private house while on the other hand most houses are built by these informal sector business owners. I have a friend who is a painter he told me he can grossly save upto 500k naira annually. In nigeria most construction workers are informally operating which means they are not registered companies, they dont pay taxes and they dont give account of their income....... Despite all these in the past five years, my town have experienced a boom in building construction. Its only a liar that would deny that nigeria economy has not improved. But all these positive economic outlook is innudated by the serious lack of infracstructure e.g good roads, security, power, health etc i am not saying that is not improving infact its better now than 15yrs ago. It would have been better had the level of corruption were low

Politics / Corruption Worse Than Homosexuality: Kaduna Anglican Bishop by rej00: 8:16pm On Dec 22, 2013
The Diocesan Bishop of Kaduna Anglican
Communion, Most Reverend
Josiah Idowu- Fearon has said that
corruption with its associated effect is
worse than homosexuality.
He said corruption had caused the
country a lot financially, morally, socially
and spiritually and there was the need
for a more proactive approach to end it
by bringing to justice those found
wanting, their status notwithstanding.
According to Bishop Fearon, corruption
has remained a monster that has
continued to eat deep into the nation’s
fibres.
“The church in Nigeria is, however,
grateful to the National Assembly for
passing a law against same sex marriage,
but I want to inform them and other
Nigerians that there is one monster that
we need to tackle and that is corruption.
“If Homosexuals or lesbians go to jail for
fourteen years for practising same sex, I
think people who engage in corruption
of any form deserve nothing less,
because their crime is a sin before God
and man,” Fearon stressed.

if Nigeria breaks according to region with force that is in arms struggle......not some rebels but assuming the whole east declaring biafra what would follow would be a world war. Many nigerians are myopic about the effect of break up but i bet it would unsettle international politics. Mind you china are looking for every opportunity to flex their military might and we all know china/russia are not on the same page with the us/uk and france.... Nigerians be wise
