Scrabble shouldn't be termed an optional in the first instance. A sport that Nigeria excels in at the world stage should be encouraged locally.

#SCRABBLE MUST BE REMOVED FROM OPTIONAL SPORTS LIST
I am a Board Member of Nigeria Scrabble Federation as The Athletes' Representative.
The National Sports Festival will be holding later this year in the FCT Abuja and the news reaching me as at last night is that Scrabble is not going to be included as it is being treated as optional sport to be included at the discretion of the organizer that is FCT.
FCT Abuja is the seat of Federal Government.
If there is any sport that must be considered,I think Scrabble stands shoulder high above all other sports in terms of our achievements continentally and globally.
As of today we remain the only black nation to have won The Scrabble World Championship in Perth Australia through Mr.Wellington Jighere and Mr.Moses Peter came second at the immediate edition in Kenya.
We have won the best Scrabble Nation back to back and are still the reigning best Scrabble playing nation worldwide.
African Scrabble Championships had been held twelve times and we have won it eleven times and the current champion as won by Ogun State Scrabble Coach Mr.Seidu Ayorinde who is still the reigning Champion.
We are the most active in terms of home grown approaches through Scrabble To School initiatives of Awosika Foundation,grassroot Scrabble Clubs,Scrabble Academies that are now sources of employment for our new breeds of ScrabblePreneurs.
Besides,the aim of any organizer is to win medals at Sports Festivals,FCT is one of our strongest locations where we have high concentration of expert players who will definitely perform brilliantly at the festival as they did in Eko 2012 where they won gold medals in Scrabble Sport.
We have Scrabble playing data base of almost 10,000 players of which about 1,000 are rated internationally on WORLD ENGLISH SCRABBLE PLAYERS ASSOCIATION (WESPA) rating list on which we have the highest numbers of players in the first 100 best players of the game worldwide.
This is a game they are refusing to include in the list of Sorts scheduled for National Sports Festival come November 2018.
A game targeted towards the improvement of our school kids academically and students generally in logical reasoning and arithmetic accuracy.
So I am calling on all to please help me and all Scrabble game lovers to impress on our Sports administrators especially The Sports Minister that this game must be included in this year's National Sports Festival coming up in November 2018 at the FCT ABUJA.
THIS IS THE PLEA OF A DROWNING GAME OF INTELECTUALS
