The problem is that the 2016 budget was built on weak assumptions. One of the assumptions in the 2016 budget, which failed to perform is the pegging of daily production of crude to 2.2million barrels per day (mbd). On the contrary, the reality has been that daily production of oil has oscillated between 1.5mbd to 1.9mbd,creating a wide differential between revenue expected and actual income. The second failed assumption, which failed to boost 2016 budget assumption is the exchange rate. The 2016 budget was predicated on N197 to a dollar. The situation on ground has proved the contrary as the true situation suggest that the naira now exchanges for over N400. The third assumption in the 2016 budget that has failed is the level of inflation. Through out 2016, inflation remained high with an unexpected month-to-month rise pattern. Whereas, crafters of the 2016 budget pegged the inflation rate at 9.81% at the peak,as at October, the rate of inflation had climbed to double digit high of 18.3%.This situation, experts say is in connection to the quantum of money released into the economy by the Federal Government in an attempt to reflate the economy through capital project expenditure. Fourthly, whereas, the Federal Government anticipated that the price of crude will be $38USD/barrel as captured in the 2016 budget appropriation, volatility in the world price has forced down prices to all time lows of between $20 to a little above the margin. However, market volatility has again resulted in gradual rise in world crude price to $50USD/barrel recently, after steady lows in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters. What is most painful is that almost the same erroneous assumptions will be made in the 2017 budget. The Presidency is already talking about a #7 trillion budget. Where will they get the money?

Interesting. I don't have a problem with this appointment. It is my hope that the President will allow the candidate work. The Office of the auditor-General for the Federation is a separate and independent entity whose existence, powers, duties and responsibilities are provided for under section 85 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999. If the duties of the officer is being dictated as is happening to the CBN governor, it becomes compromised and does not augur well for our already fragile democracy.

This is very unnecessary and will further fuel the persecution complex of many believers. I understand there are different shades in our social evolution that have come to define TV programming for some years now. I know, for instance, that the bleeping of the words “God”, “Jesus”, etc comes in the wake of a raging war in the United States to remove Christian symbols and Bible from the public space. There is also the attempt to push through minority rights like gay rights on TV but which have only been able to distort otherwise great shows. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that upholding minority rights whether sexual, gender, spiritual or lack thereof is a worthy cause that ought to be fought for, protected and enforced. However, going to the extremes of classifying words like “God” and “Jesus” as profanities is downright silly and insulting.

Perhaps, the greatest evidence of the laziness and greed of some Nigerians is the rapid growth of ponzi schemes in the country in the last 12 months, the most popular of which is MMM. A difficult question to answer but perhaps if each one of us begins to seek a higher quality of existence outside of capricious accumulation of wealth and understand that the true worth of a man is not determined by the amount of wealth he is able to accumulate but in the positive impact he has on his family, community, society and humanity at large, we would have taken a huge first step in our journey to redemption and a higher quality of life. It is counter-productive to complain of suffering from the negative effects of economic recession while still staking your limited resources in dubious schemes. Many Nigerians scoff at the government’s call for citizens to embrace agriculture which is proven to be a productive venture all over the world but are willing to seek ‘free money’ with Ponzi schemes. Is this a failure of government too? Definitely not, it is a failure of individuals to take the right decisions. Yes, it is not everybody that will become a farmer but there are other legitimate businesses that people can go into and highly sought-after skills that people can learn to gain full time or part-time employment. Examples abound in ICT with programming, translation jobs, virtual jobs of all sorts paying in foreign exchange if you are willing to do the work.

Hell no...iit's the same with both parties involved...this is a life changing court verdict we're talking about. But whatever happens, I know Ayade won't lose 'cos they got nothing on him.

Someone I know bought a land at an outskirts of a state capital in Nigeria to get away from another house he poured my life savings into to get away from noise pollution and clustering of various form. The lawlessness of building convertion is eroding quality of life . If you don't have money to buy or build a house in GRA you are left at the mercy of neighbors who build a mosque or church right inside their residence space and others who turn their front or side egress area into mini mall with shops the size of large cubicle. Some have goats and rams roaming with motorist and cyclist swerving to avoid crashing into them yet only few years back it was a quiet peaceful serene neighborhood with paved streets! Absent of government regulation has ruined it. Now the new project was surrounded by religious buildings in stages of development . There was 4 churches and one mosque within 300 meters of the new project as at last count. The government only care about where they live. You could build a house on a street and get away with it in this lawless society where they pretend to be more Catholic than the pope. People should stop crying witchhunt when they have no approved plans for their buildings. Let the courts decide.

Nigerians should call for a new national population census 2017 supervised by UNFPA and involving all youth corpers trained for the job in all 774 local government areas. It will shock the world to know that Lagos state population is about 20 million, home for all tribes and religions in Nigeria. The special status will benefit the inhabitants with fund to provide additional infrastructure and decongest the ares inhabited by the poor. But really, why can't we just go back to regional system...why all these para-regional idea of retaining crumbs from actually belongs to these states.

7% Growth With Economic Recovery Plan? For where? A man who hates democracy will never achieve anything under democracy. Mark my word and mark today. Not that I don't mean well for Buhari or Nigerians, but I saw tomorrow and I have seen the foot steps of Nigeria politicians and what they have, nothing absolutely nothing. I said this last year November that Buhari foot print I'm seeing will make PDP look saintly, people unleashed their anger on me and asked me to join train of change. I told them that the change they voted for wont be seen under Buhari, the change they asked for will turn and the opposite is what they will get. Today they have seen it clearly. Nigerian politicians are good in promising the masses heaven and earth and masses are good in hearing what ever rubbish politicians tell them and they can endure till eternity yet no hope. No one can protest in Nigeria. Every body seems comfortable, APC has made PDP look saintly and people are now asking Buhari if this is the way to fight for corruption while some are busy stealing pot of soup as a result of hunger. Return Nigeria to the way you met it and go to Duara and fight your corruption with your kinsmen, Buhari want to avenge what Nigerians deed to him for loosing 3 times in election. He will keep promising Nigerians and the gullible ones will keep believing him until get zoom off aso rock. Mark my words.

The easiest way to nail this judge is for FG to pursue: 1- Witness tampering 2- Passport fraud 3- Violation of administrative bail Prosecution should then show that the man has been corrupt and likely must have enriched himself corruptly also. When he is established as a man with corrupt tendencies and a violator of laid down laws, the claim that he enriched himself will stick better. Agabi: We dey follow you and the judge dey count the adjournment so when the thing reach 5, we go remind you. When a former AGF becomes the lead counsel for corrupt people, na wa for us and our corruption o.

"Why would NCC increase tariff without extensively engaging all the stakeholders?" To start with, what's their business with telecom service tariffs? Telcos are private entities that should determine the tariff for their services without the help of NCC. There has to be ulterior motives to the NCC move. If this PMB/APC govt want to continue to enjoy some level of support left from the Nigerian masses, they should henceforth, put on hold all forms of increment in taxes, fees, tariff etc. The cost of living is already over burdening the masses and the govt should bring out policies to reduce the cost of goods and food items. Left to me, I believe it's time to start signatures collection for the impeachment of PMB. This gross insensitivity to the plight of the citizenry is unbecoming of an elected leader. Since the change we all voted for and celebrated is now becoming a nightmare, Nigerians, we all must now be prepare to get rid of Buhari and Osibanjo through NASS impeachment. I AM AFRAID FOR OUR COUNTRY. Forget about the MSM, lies, the US, UK and EU are still suffering from the effect of the 2008/9 recession. These are countries that deployed massive fiscal and monetary policies in their recovering runs but all we are hearing is Buhari daughters getting married and their husband being appointed to head govt MDA as a reward.

The fear of Tinubu is the beginning of wisdom. The fight for the southwest has just begun. No, you're the new leader of the southwest o. Take it, because you've betrayed one of your own. Remember Law-1? Never outshine the master "Always make those above you feel comfortably superior. In your desire to please or impress them, do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite, to inspire fear and insecurity. Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power." By taking sides with Oyegun and company, you basically told Tinubu to go to hell with his complaints. You rallied around Oyegun as your own master Tinubu cried in silence. Remember Law-15? Crush your enemy totally "All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. Sometimes they have learned this the hard way. If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation. The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit." Your attempt to crush Tinubu and all that he's worked for has failed. Unfortunately for you, you didn't crush him completely, which you should have done. Tinubu will recover and get his pound of flesh. Just watch and stop explaining yourself. We knew what you just did to undermine Tinubu.

Because the government is clueless, outsourcing is the way. But as usual, it is abused where they give their cronies government contracts without due process. But ideally, sourcing has several benefits. A few include: Quick work: No doubt, private agencies are known to work much more quickly when you compare it with the sloppy working movements in government sector. Smoother operation: As a part of the work is outsourced, it becomes relatively easier to operate. The government agencies can carry out with other work and integrate the results to have a much smoother operation. Simultaneous working: As a separate team is also working on parts of the job, more work can be accomplished in shorter time duration. Best of both the worlds: There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that there is a huge difference in the working ways of government sector and private sector. When government agencies outsource their work to private sectors, it will help them in enjoying the benefits of both the world. Cost cutting: Outsourcing has been considered to be one of the most effective ways of cutting down on your total cost. You can choose to keep your budget in check by simply choosing the best companies and getting the finest work done at right rates.
