Ace humour merchant, I Go Dye, born Francis Agoda has done what every good child would want to do for their mum in a special way as the word reaching Weekend Groove has it that he has built a house for him mum.

Though the location of the house is still not known as at press time but its picture, through a very reliable source, has been made available to Weekend Groove. And it is certainly a beauty to behold.

The house, which seems to stand on its own ground, with all modern finishing, is a palatial edifice, painted in all-white with stripes of gold to give off a picture of sheer splendour.

No doubt, the building must have put a huge dent in the comedian’s bank account, but it has been his life-long dream to do something special for his mum.

I Go dye who celebrated his 20 years in the industry recently has a story of ‘grass to grace’ to tell.

“Well, growing up wasn’t rosy at all, some said they had silver spoon but for me, there was no spoon at all, it was just creating means for myself to fend for myself,” he once said in an interview with Vanguard.

“All my early days were spent in the village with my grandmother, who nurtured me with so much traditional values that later amused my peers when I got back to primary school in Warri. There was so much difficulty for my age mates to comprehend my ideas and values of life. It was seen most times that I was saying things that were not achievable because they felt I knew more than my age. I had difficulty also conforming to their standard and it took me sometime to study their moral upbringing, which had so much difference from the way life was in the village and living with an old woman. More so, the challenges of life are so much, it took me strong personal conviction to stand firmly on my belief and dreams”.

Afrobeat legend, Femi Kuti, has called for Buhari’s resignation, saying that the cost of his numerous medical trips is taking its toll on Nigeria’s already dwindling economy.

In Interview Kuti fumed, ‘You see, I think he should just be sincere and hand over to Vice President Osinbajo.‘You cannot spend so many months going abroad for medical trip. Please, just resign and hand over to the vice president, or is it by force?

‘It is not a do or die affair now, do you know what it is costing Nigeria for the president to keep on going on those medical trips outside the country? What about the millions of people who cannot afford it.’Lamenting over the state of hospitals in Nigeria, Kuti stated, ‘If one of the biggest legacies the President leaves behind is making General Hospital one of international repute, it would make a lot of sense, but why should we pay for them to have treatment outside the country and then, we cannot have the same privilege? So because he is the president, the rest of us should die as a result of bad health care?

‘It shows that the government should think of improving our own system to international standards. By banning themselves from travelling, if we must die, let us die in our country.’

He further said, ‘Do you hear of the Queen of England going to America for treatment or the President of America going to England for treatment? The day they do that, there will be an impeachment few minutes later.

‘But we condole a lot rubbish in this country and that says a lot about us to the rest of the world, I cannot even believe that some people are defending this.

‘Tell the people fighting on twitter that when it’s their turn to fall sick and they get to the general hospital and there is no treatment for themselves and their loved ones, they should keep fighting, they shouldn’t fight for good healthcare for the country, they should continue to fight for the president to keep on going for treatment. In fact, tell them that I said I said that their fight is very wise.’

Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, May 9, remanded a politician Charles Eni-Umukoro over the murder of his wife, Louisa Eni-Umukoro, who was a director in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Justice Mary-Anne Aninih ordered the remand of Eni-Umukoro in Kuje Prison, FCT pending the hearing of his bail application.


The Inspector General of Police (IGP) in February charged Umukoro with culpable homicide, which is punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code. The defendant however denied the allegation.

According to the charge signed by Kenneth Ubanwa of the Legal/Prosecution Section of the Force Headquarters, Umukoro allegedly caused the death of the woman by “hitting her on the head which caused internal haemorrhage with the knowledge that her death would be the probable consequence.”
Attached with the charge is an autopsy report from the Department of Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology of the National Hospital in Abuja, which shows that the deceased died from ‘subdural haemorrhage’ resulting from two bruises on both sides of the neck, which the doctors said are products of ‘external force’.

The criminal charge followed a complaint by the deceased family, Eliab U. Ukponmwan of Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State, where they cited several incidents of violence among the two, which they alleged led to the deceased’s death on April 22, 2016.

In a petition to the IGP dated August 17, 2016, the family’s counsel, Barrister Ezekiel Ugochukwu stated that there exists circumstantial evidence against the husband based on the incidents of the evening of April 21, 2016, when she went to the hospital with head injuries.

“Louise Eni-Umukoro was born to the family of Mr. & Mrs. E. U. Ukponmwan, in Edo State on the 27th of March 1960, Mrs. Louise Eni-Umukoro joined the Commission on 22nd October, 1986 as an Assistant Economist and rose through the rank to attain the highest career position in the Commission – Director in January 2010,” the statement said.

Mrs. Louise Eni-Umukoro was a compassionate leader, a caring mother and a mentor to many who served under her. She has left a huge vacuum and will be sorely missed by all of us.
