Education / 10 Inspiring Quotes On Letting Go by resolver(f): 3:43pm On Jan 09, 2017 |
Letting go can seem very hard but it can also be very liberating as well. Even though holding on isn't so bad, letting go isn't bad either. Here are 10 quotes from famous people on letting go. 1. Theodore Roosevelt: “It is only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.” 2. Jessica Hatchigan: “There’s an important difference between giving up and letting go.” 3. Jan Glidewell: “You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.” 4. Ralph Marston: “Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You’re able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgment.” 5. Denis Waitley: “Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energy moving forward together towards an answer.” 6. J. K. Rowling: “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.” 7. Raymond Lindquist: “Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.” 8. Erich Fromm: “Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.” 9. Alexander Graham Bell: “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” 10. Fridtjof Nansen: “I demolish my bridges behind me…then there is no choice but to move forward.” http://www.dovestreets.com/posts/apost/32121 |
Career / 3 Ways To Thrive In A Job You Don't Love by resolver(f): 3:07pm On Jan 09, 2017 |
While it is necessary to find a job you love, the truth is not many people will ever find a job they truly love. Most people work because they need to pay the bills, others because of one reason or the other. The fact that you don't love your job doesn't mean you cannot thrive at the job. Here are 3 ways you can: 1. Look at the big picture: Yes, having a 'standard' job means you get paid, shaky 'one-man' businesses not included. What does your salary do for you after paying the bills and getting necessities? Does it allow you save for that professional exam, help your siblings or relatives, will help in achieving your dreams, or do something that would not otherwise have been possible? 2. Create a comfortable work environment: If your space is limited to a desk, put things that can give you comfort on it. No matter how stressed out you might feel, your work environment (personal office or desk) should be your comfort zone. 3. Strike a balance: Make conscious efforts not to become a workaholic. Create time for yourself so that you won't become unhappy and resent your job. http://www.dovestreets.com/posts/apost/32102 4 Likes |

In compliance with the act, Pastor E A Adebody of the Redeemed christian church of God (RCCG) recently stepped down as the General Overseer of the Nigerian arm of the church; there are also reports in the media that big names like Bishop Oyedepo of Winners, Pastor Kumuyi of Deep life, Dr. Olukoya of MFM amongst other long serving General Overseers might be forced to toe the same path. He said these on sunday during the 53rd birthday thanksgiving service of his wife, held at the governor office chapel, in Ado Ekiti. In his words: "There is one thing every government must not do, the moment you face the church of God, you will fail. The God of Adeboye, Kumuyi will bring down all the enemies in this government. Somebody must tell them, there are certain things you don’t do. They are going from frying pan to fire." "This government wants to subdue the church, God will subdue them. They are ridiculing leaders of the church, God will rubbish them. The same church they had deceived to get power, they are saying that we now have the ring, who will remove it from our hand, the Lord will cut off the hand that wears the ring." Health / 4 Nuts To Eat For Healthy Living by resolver(f): 9:20am On Dec 07, 2016 |
Nuts are very good because they are high in healthy fat (monounsaturated fat, as well as omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fat) and are also a good source of fiber and protein. Nuts also contain a number of vitamins and minerals, including magnesium and vitamin E. Even though there are a whole lots of nuts that are beneficial, this article will stick to just 4; 1. Peanuts/Groundnuts: Peanuts are legumes. However, they are often considered to be nuts due to the fact they have similar nutrient profiles and health benefits with other nuts. Peanuts improve risk factors for heart disease. 2. Almonds: Almonds are tree nuts that can help improve cholesterol levels. Almonds may also aid weight loss and lower blood pressure in people who are overweight or obese. 3. Walnuts: Walnuts are an excellent source of the omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Eating walnuts can significantly reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, while increasing the “good” HDL cholesterol. Walnuts are quite healthy for the heart. 4. Cashew nuts: Cashews are part of the tree nut family and has been found to improve blood pressure in people with metabolic syndrome. While nuts are healthy due to the essential nutrients they provide, only minimally processed nuts can be said to be healthy. http://www.dovestreets.com/posts/apost/32109 |

Health / How To Drink Water The Right Way by resolver(f): 2:30pm On Dec 06, 2016 |
You are probably thinking this is a trick article as there really can't be a right or wrong way to drink water. A large amount of the water you drink is absorbed in the large intestine after being let out of the stomach. Drinking water on an empty stomach ensures that the water passes through the stomach into the large intestine and enters your bloodstream within 5 minutes especially if the water is cold. If however you’re eating while drinking the water, the water is passed into the intestines because the stomach must digest the food first, which means it might take 45 minutes of more for the water to enter your bloodstream. This is why if you are dehydrated, you should drink water before eating so that your body can be quickly hydrated. So, what is the right way to drink water? Slow and steady: Drinking water slowly throughout the day makes you stay hydrated, this is because your intestines can only process certain amounts of water at a given time. Timing: Knowing when to drink water is important especially as most of the water drunk is absorbed in the body within 120 minutes. This means if you intend to engage in a work out, you should drink water 2 hours before. If you want to eat, ensure that you take water 30 minutes before your meal. If you have a strong bladder, take a glass of water before bed. It is compulsory to take a glass of water when you wake. Drink enough: Even though we have heard that 8 glasses a day is ideal, the the ‘correct’ amount of water for you is half your weight in ounces. This means that a 150lb person should drink 75 ounces per day, which is equal to 2.25 litres. http://www.dovestreets.com/posts/apost/32106 |

Religion / Religious Tolerance To Arabic Refugees by resolver(f): 7:30am On Sep 06, 2015 |
Many of us can recall the heart shattering picture of the body of a young Syrian child that was drowned during the migration of his family from Syria. Now,the big question is why these refugees don't seek refuge in other prosperous Arabic countries such as Saudi , UAE, Brunei, Qatar etc ,rather, they seek refuge in Christian dominated places like Germany, Sweden, France and so on and these countries provide a warm reception for these victims. Truth is, the Muslim world needs to wake up to its responsibilities and look at ways to sanitize and sensitize its people because the world can't afford further blood letting caused by its followers (alQueda,ISIS, bokoharam etc). In fact, I am appalled by the response by the Arabic world to the human crisis afflicting its own people, rather it's the infidels (Christian dominated countries) that is cleaning up the mess instigated by the Arabs. Assuming it was the other way,say Italian refugees seeking asylum in Saudi Arabia, would the accommodation be warm and friendly? Well, the answer is obvious to all. In conclusion, the more religious tolerant we are ,the better the world would be and doing good to others irrespective of differences brings good tidings to the benefactors. 2 Likes 1 Share |
