The Federal Government and All Progressives Congress, APC,yesterday, slammed PeoplesDemocratic Party, PDP, for once again asking President Muhammadu Buhari to quit, calling the former ruling party a shameless irritant which was bent on distracting the government from its rescue mission and returning the country to “Egypt.”Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and APC’s National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, who reacted to PDP’s call in a statement, said: “We are on a rescue mission to resuscitate Nigeria after the PDP left it in a coma, and the noise from the same PDP seems designed to sabotage the rescue efforts but we are not deterred.”He said if the PDP had understood the meaning of shame, it would never have dared to even make a singlecomment on the same economy it did everything to destroy.they said: “While the PDP was emasculating Nigeria on all fronts, including social, economic and political, the rapacious party was deceiving Nigerians by giving them the illusion of growth and prosperity.“Instead of showing remorse and rebuilding itself to a strong opposition party, the PDP has continued to blame the successor, Buhari administration, which is left to pack their mess. PDP undertakers have continued to engage in a blame game, when they should be hiding from the shame they brought upon themselves and the nation.”The duo said what the PDP had consistently put up as a vibrant economy under itswatch was nothing but a bubble buoyed by massive corruption and chronic incompetence, an economy in which someone without any known means of earned livelihood would boast of$31.5 million.They said: ’They keep saying we should stop talking of the past, yet the past will not stop rearing its head. They keep saying we should no longer refer tothe past, but how can we forget so soon that our foreign exchange reserves plummeted from $62bn in 2008 to $30bn by 2015, ata time when oil prices wereat a historic high, reaching a level of $114 per barrel in 2014.“By comparison, Indonesia,another oil producing economy with a high population, increased its reserves from $60 billion in 2008 to $120 billion in 2015.“The candid truth is that we failed under the successive PDP administrations to save forthe rainy day, and we need to constantly remind ourselves of that so that we won’t repeat the mistake. Take the excess crude account which fell from about $9bn in 2007 to about $2bn in 2015. The argument that it was the State Governors that depleted the account does not hold water since there were Governors in place when the account was being built up.“Worse still is the fact that up to $14bn in revenues from Nigerian LNGremains unaccounted for and indeed until the Buhari Administration came to office, State Governments never got any allocations from this source of funds which properly belongs to the Federation Account.”

"ASUU STRIKE WILL BE CALLED OFF NEXT WEEK"__PROF. AJIBEFUN..............

*Urges AAUASU to CALL off planned protest.
*AAUASU suspends PLANNED protest.

The vice chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, Prof AMOS IGBEKELE AJIBEFUN has promised the leadership of the union that the indefinite strike action embarked upon by ASUU AAUA will end next week. In his words, "I'm urging you all not to protest. It may go violent even when you are planning something peaceful. I'm speaking to you as my children, do not embark on this journey. We will be having a meeting with ASUU tomorrow, 10/09/2016, and early next week. We will make decisions that will end the current strike ".

Speaking on behalf of the union, the president comr ODUNYEMI ADEGBOLA said," we have been at home for several weeks, we have maintained our cool but nothing has been done concerning the issue ".

In response, the vice chancellor said, :" its true you have been at home for weeks, but now there is just one week to go, there are some hoodlums who may try to hijack your upcoming protest ".

The Deputy Senate President, Sen. AKERELE EMMANUEL asked for a signed document to show as prove to that the strike will be called off next week. Also speaking, Caucus leader Somassa, Sen OGUNYEMI AYODEJI, said" The protest is going to be peaceful, its not going to go violent, we have our plans in place already ".

However, the vice chancellor went on to say" I'm speaking to you as my children in this case, but if you insist on the staging the protest, i will fold my hands and watch and if it goes violent, i will hold you responsible ".

The General secretary of the union, comr SEGUN ODUNAYO said," Our protest is not against you our vice chancellor, it’s to frown at the environment that we have found ourselves in at the moment. Many of our students have been indulging in indecent activities because of this strike but if you are assuring us that the strike will be called off by next week, we will go ahead to convince our colleagues to stay calm and not bother about a protest ".

comr OLANREWAJU OLAYINKA, the treasurer of the union asked if the 500l Law students will still be able to make Law school, if resumption comes up next week. In reply to both speakers, the vice chancellor promised that the leadership of the union should be rest assured and go on to cancel the scheduled protest. He also said there'll be a special arrangement for the 500l Law students.

Therefore, in lieu of the vice chancellor's promise, the leadership of the union suspends the planned protest.
