EducationPls I Need Urgent Advice by Richie4impact(op): 1:48pm On Feb 06, 2016
Last year, I gained admission into UNILAG to study Architecture, but I was screened out because I didn't have Technical drawing in my O'level. Before filling this year's UTME form, I called someone in FUTA and he told me my SSCE result (Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Building Construction, Further Maths, Civic education and Biology ) would be accepted by FUTA.
I was confused yesterday when a friend told me that someone called from FUTA saying that secretary of the Architecture department said Technical drawing is compulsory.
Please I need an Archi student in FUTA to help me confirm this.
I can go through what I went through last year.

EducationPls, I Need Your Sincere Advice On What To Do. by Richie4impact(op): 5:57am On Oct 28, 2015
I was offered admission into the University of Lagos to study Architecture this year. When I went for the screening exercise I was screened out because I had no technical drawing. However, I offered Building construction in my O'level and I passed it. After that I went to the department and fortunately I met with the HOD. He asked to see the syllabus for Building Construction which I brought. After looking at the syllabus, he said they can accept it in lieu of Technical Drawing. Thus, he wrote a letter attaching my credentials to it and sent it to the Admission Officer. It's been two weeks now and I've not had any thing. Please, anyone with similar experience or helpful advice, assist me. This is killing me softly.

CareerTake Charge by Richie4impact(op): 2:44pm On Aug 27, 2015
TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE
One of the most difficult thing to accept is responsibility for your actions, especially when the consequences are not so good. In the same vain, when our actions backfire, we find it easier to blame others. Many times we shift the blame on the government, our bosses, friends and loved ones.
But trading blame and apportioning fault seldom takes us closer to our goals. By default, you are not responsible for a number of things in your life, like the country you were born into, the choice of parents and sometimes the choice of school.
However, these things may or may not influence your future, depending on how you take charge of your life. Every outcome is made up of two major parts; the event and your response. It is true that you may not always have control over the events happening around you, but you have 100% control over the way you respond to the event. The kind of response you give determines the kind of outcome you get. Take for instance, your fiancée turned up very late for an event you wanted to go together (event), because you are infuriated, you tongue lashed her (response) that she felt insulted. This negatively affected your relationship (outcome). Let's see how a different response would change the outcome. Your fiancée arrived late for an event she shouldn't be late for (event), then you said to her, what delayed you.(response) "I'm so sorry for coming late, I had a flat tire" She responded. (Outcome). You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge over.
There is a story about a drunkard who had two sons. Whenever the man returns home drunk he would beat up his wife and kids. This made the wife filed for divorce. All efforts by friends and family to restore the relationship proved abortive. After many years, one of his sons became a pilot. He has a stable relationship, he loved and cared for his family. On the other hand was his brother who has grown to become a replica of what their father was. When these two sons were asked what was the reason for their lifestyles. The former answered saying every time he saw his father drunk, broke or abused his mum, he renewed his determination to be the exact opposite of what his father was. While the latter said each time he looked at his father, he was intrigued by his father's atrocious acts, and then he made his mind to be exactly like his father. The only way to change your life is to take charge of your life. A powerful man creates the world he desires. Observe great people around you, you will find out that the seldom trade blame.
Conclusively, Viktor Frankl, a psychiatrist who survived holocaust and a concentration camp, said "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." We must realize that the power to create the kind of life we want resides in us. Refuse to conform to the standards of your environment nor dictate of your circumstance. Drop the victim mentality, embrace the victor ideology. Be responsible for your life. Take charge! CareerImproving Your Personality by Richie4impact(op): 11:55am On Jul 16, 2015
IMPROVING YOUR PERSONALITY

Personality can simply be described as the total qualities of a person. This includes the feeling, behavioural and thinking pattern. People with good personality are generally likeable, while those with bad personality would notice that people don't readily associate with them. Psychologists maintain that the need to feel loved and appreciated are the primary emotional needs of human. Hence everyone wants to possess what it takes to make people gravitate towards them. Thus, having a good personality may help satisfy this need perhaps than having good looks.

Improve your communication skills - Communication
is often regarded as the lifeline of any relationship. While assessing a person's personality, communication usually is the greatest criterion. Practice listening more. Give people the opportunity of being heard. People definitely enjoy it when people listen to to them with interest. Similarly, learn to be a good conversationalist. People love people with opinion.

Be Open-minded: A wise man once said "The goal of education is not to fill the mind of a child, rather it is to open the mind." Being open-minded means giving people the opportunity to express their true self without being judgmental or biased. Open-mindedness is a great feature of intelligent people. It allows you to see life through others' glass and puts you in the good book of others.

Respect yourself as well as others: There's a saying that "First impression last for a very long time." It is quite true. Smooth communication skills may attract people to you but how you treat them will tell if you will maintain the relationship or not. When people perceive you as someone disrespectful, they will most likely avoid you. The degree to which you respect yourself is the degree to which others respect you. Brian Tracy said "Live your life in every way to earn and keep the respect of those you respect."

Develop a Good Sense of Humor: This doesn't mean you have to be a comedian, rather you should be able to make people smile and giggle on certain occasions. Everyone loves to be with someone who will make them laugh and smile. Develop the ability to laugh at yourself with friends. In a saturnine situation, this ability comes in handy.

Be Original: When dealing with people, be your real self. Don't try to talk or act like someone you feel has a better personality. Trying to be someone else has a way of oozing out your 'fakeness'. You are at your best when you are original. Be confident while being yourself. Finally, love God, love yourself and love others.
