We actually do not need to US carrying out any airstrike on our territory, we demand they sell weapons to us without any prolong delay in delivery and without any stringent conditions attached. Our gallant military are more than capable to finish the rest.

FreeStuffsNG: Only unfortunate unpatriotic elements doubt that such operations are held jointly with Nigeria.
The US apparently want to keep the military assets used for the particular operation under their own control just like when they bombed Iran on behalf of their proxy in the middle east.
Trump is hyping as usual, it's more symbolic than any significant military success. Nigeria is too large and the cost of such operations will be too expensive for US to sustain.
Nothing really significant and nothing powerful and lethal. Just to bomb small parts of a forest in Sokoto when there are multiple forests in Sokoto and thousands of forests in just NW geopolitical zone in Nigeria. Sokoto state alone is bigger than Israel and Gaza Palestine combined.
The most important task will be undertaken by our armed forces who combine all the intelligence along with internal policing. Patriotic Nigerians will support our armed forces that are more effective than failed multiple US bombings in Gaza and Afghanistan.
To fly one or two aeroplane and drop bomb is the easy part. Ground operation with boots on the ground is where the big deal is and US cannot do that because their soldiers will get killed. So you truly agreed that our air force and air system is usually and cannot do anything. |

MT: Yes. Nigeria is a sovereign country and that was why the US confirmed that the bombing was carried out at the request of Nigeria Government. Did you not remember the songs on nairaland daily about Nigeria being a sovereign country and that the US cannot do anything? We can handle terrorism and insecurity ourselves and that the US wants to steal our minerals and oil. Prepare for more airstrikes and bombing. I thought Tinubu will refuse Trump warning. This is Trump quotes below 👇 "I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. "Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper," he continued. "May God Bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues." |

I think the information leaked out from a third party and the NFF took advantage of it. Maybe Nigerians living in DR Congo. They should review their laws, this is 2025. Jakarta: Everything about Nigeria always have comma and backdoor baked into it. Very anyhow country like that. This is not about back door but following the rules strictly and DR Congo cheated. Remember the case of south Africa fielding an ineligible player. There are rules of engagement protecting every country which must be respected. What DR Congo should do now is show the proof of those players renouncing their citizenship of their first nationality which I think they don't have. Even here on nairaland, if you don't follow the rules, the moderator will you give a ban. |
Sports › Re: 2026 WCQ: DR Congo FA Slams Nigeria Over World Cup Eligibility Dispute by Richie6(m): 6:56pm On Dec 17, 2025 |
Nigeria has a strong case against DR Congo. NFF has filed a complaint with FIFA, alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who still holds a British passport and didn't renounce his English citizenship.
DR Congo's constitution doesn't permit dual citizenship, and FIFA's regulations require players to comply with domestic laws. If FIFA rules in Nigeria's favour, DR Congo could face sanctions, including possible disqualification from the World Cup.
Some of the players in question include:
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: Holds a British passport and represents DR Congo.
Axel Tuanzebe: Born in DR Congo, played for England at youth levels, and hasn't renounced his English citizenship
Nathanael Mbuku: Born in France, represented France at youth levels, and hasn't relinquished his French nationality
Lionel Mpasi: Born in France, played for France at youth levels, and didn't relinquish his French citizenship.
Timothy Fayulu: Born in Switzerland, represented Switzerland at youth levels, and switched allegiance to DR Congo in 2025
Michel-Ange Balikwisha: Born in Belgium, played at youth levels, and received national switch approval from FIFA
FIFA is investigating the matter, and a decision is expected before the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026. Based on technicality and DR Congo strong laws regards dual nationality, Nigeria will win the appeal. They fielded ineligible players. |
