His comparison of Nigeria's morbidly corpulent public sector employees to USA public sector workers was a disaster. It isn't just the number of employees - its the drain they place on the public purse.
Instead of laying the blame squarely on Nigeria's political/business elite - and their sustained attacks on our weak institutions, Oyedele keeps justifying subsidy removal - as if it is a silver bullet.
The man and his principal BAT just caved in to powerful, vested interests that have severely watered down BAT's so called 'tax reform' and left it for dead. Where is the courage to take on those interests?
Window dressed realities indeed. And now that subsidy has been removed, what happens next? How much have been saved?what did they use then , and |

A shame really, a real shame. The abnormally high Ndigbo voting percentage in the SE for Peter Obi also didn't help. Don't you ever repeat such again.
Anyway, even if we used the cash from all that to pay for those things...it won't pay for subsides for at best 2 months.
Again, government has no business wasting money on frivolous things.
Yes, all true, but at the end, ending wasteage still leaves us with the same figures i quoted above.
And that's the problem.
Remember the wasteages are comming from a budget of N49 trillion naira. Stopping the wasteages, and subsidising fuel at N65 a liter leaves us with a 36 trillion naira budget for subsides, and very little money for salaries, wages, contracts, projects, obligations, etc etc.
Option b is to do as they do in saner climes and have everyone of age pay heavy tax...rich and poor....to fund subsides for a select few poor people. The problem is not subsidy but wastage of public funds and corruption... Even developed countries like UK and US subsided food, fuel, education, medical Supplies e.tc for their citizens...Stop mentioning subsidy as the only problem we're facing.. An ex governor was charged for stealing billions but the court gave him bailed for 500 million.. Subsidy is not the problem here. |

nedu666: So at 80 dollars fuel is 1150. It means at 100 dollars fuel will be 1450 or 1500. At 120 dollars, fuel will be 1700. At 150 dollars fuel will be 2000 naira. We are getting there. Nigerians must suffa Should the dollar be a benchmark on how to control our resources? We have the crude, refineries and resources yet countries without these things are doing well than this shit hole called Nigeria. Let change our currency to naira. |
Politics › Re: Petrol Pump Price Surges To ₦1,150 After Dangote Hike by Richie6(m): 8:19am On Jan 18, 2025 |
nairalanda1: Okay, let's crunch some numbers.
Let's assume that tinubu said on Jan 1 this year that fuel would cost N65 per liter.
That means that subsidy cost would come to about 100 billion naira daily. Or 36 TRILLION Naira annually.
As you know, our budget for this year was N49 trillion, meaning that once we take 36 trillion out, we would have 13 trillion left.
Salaries won't be paid, projects won't be executed, and services won't be done. You may not be able to get passports, documents, etc...because no money.
And the debt would rise as we try to borrow more. Our debt is N135 trillion as at the end of last year, and rising. Maybe it would shoot to N200 trillion.
Meaning, no money for even importing anything...ashewo included.
Result...Sri Lanka ten times over.
Who do you this kind thing? Oga, you're only interested in speaking about how the masses should bear the grunts...All the salaries, allowances, cars, jet, yatch, house renovations allocated to themselves, where's the money coming from? How much have they saved from the removal subsidy? No body knows but yet they can appoint hundreds of aids doing nothing.. Our problem is wastage of our resources and inability to be transparent in our dealings. Let everyone be on minimum wage and see if things will not change. You can't be living large yet asked Nigerian to tighten their belt. |

Politics › Re: Nigerians Applaud Burn Rate Of Dangote Refinery Fuel by Richie6(m): 2:54am On Jan 10, 2025 |
This is the secret as a chemist; Dangote fuel burn slower than NNPCL and other imported ones because it has higher octane number which means slower fuel burning rate.
Octane number is a measure of a fuel's resistance to engine knocking or pinging, which can damage an engine. It's also known as an anti-knock rating.
It's a scale that rates fuel's ability to resist auto-ignition. Higher octane fuels (e.g. 91, 95, 98) are more resistant to knocking, while lower octane fuels (e.g. 87, 90) are less resistant.
When fuel auto-ignites too quickly, it can cause knocking or pinging, which can lead to engine damage. Higher octane fuels burn more slowly, reducing the risk of knocking.
This is especially important in high-performance engines, which operate at higher compression ratios and are more prone to knocking. |

In as much as we have government who doesn't listen to the plights of their citizens. We should be considerate as landlord too, because it's a honour for God to bless you with an apartment for lease or rent.
Increasing rent arbitrary and yearly doesn't help the situation we find ourselves in this country..I can understand that there's inflation, cost of items and other essentials has increased significantly, but again, some of your tenants are struggling to survive, their salaries are not increased yearly.
As a landlord, do you know that you're doing more of a humanitarian service not purely for business? Increase your rent with wisdom and also, stop running after tenants that will give you millions and headaches later in future.
Tenants too should also respect their landlords and let us live in peace and harmony..Money should not be a factor all the time... There are houses I know in certain areas and estates here in Lagos that nobody wants to rent for the past three years because of outrageous fees and demand.
We are one and should continue to live as one. Go to the northern part of the country, even though, it's underdeveloped, you will see people accommodating other for free. |

LegendHero: This is baseless. If Buhari candidate is Lawan, are you saying Buhari FG doesn’t have enough money to outspend Tinubu or Amaechi?
Let me tell you, if they go and do that primaries in heaven or mars, Tinubu will win flawlessly. He has too many loyal people within APC for him to lose to an Amaechi or Osinbajo. Even if Amaechi were to outspend him, he will still win.
See the Emilokan speech in Ogun. Tinubu was bold enough to go to Ogun state and warn Dapo Abiodun and the delegates that they must not do “egbo ile” by saying they will vote Osinbajo. Then telling everyone bluntly how he made Dapo at the stadium.
His People in APC stand to gain more with Tinubu as president for them to be discouraged by meagre less than $10k any other contender will spend on them.
Will Lagos delegate forfeit an Asiwaju presidency because a nobody Amaechi offer them $$?
Lastly bro, our politics will continue to have money influence. Even Obi bought the LP ticket and it is public info. Go and contest ordinary SUG president, you will understand why Nigeria politics will still have influence of money one way or the other. I just said something earlier that Tinubu's influence and wealth, the support he got from northern Governor's and his support base in the south were major factors that helped him clinched the primary ticket. Do you know how many people he has helped to become governor's, senators, ministers etc? that's why he said EMILOKAN. Even Buhari emergent to defeat Jonathan, he was a major factor. He has started strategizing as soon as his tenure expired as the Governor of Lagos State. |
