Does it look like PlayStation to you. I play games with my A+ well and now you are pushing it by saying repeatedly HD Games. Why don't you just ask for a 3D screen and 3D Glasses to come with it and for it to also generate its own credits from mtn and glo just because it techno. Now that you have your Samsung send it to shoprite naa to go and buy you something or you can send it to oando to get you fuel. Yeye boy.Bros you dey vex o. Well the op got what he deserve. |

Music impresario Quincy Jones, credited with producing some of Michael Jackson’s biggest hits, has sued the singer’s estate for $10 million, US news reports said on Saturday. Jones filed a $10 million breach-of-contract lawsuit in connection with Michael Jackson projects released after the singer’s death, the Hollywood Reporter wrote. The entertainment industry Bible reported that Jones filed his suit Friday in Los Angeles against Sony Music Entertainment and MJJ Productions, a song company controlled by Jackson’s estate. Quincy Jones Jones, a legendary producer who has won 27 Grammy Awards during a half century in the music business, produced Jackson’s biggest hits, including “Off the Wall,” “Thriller” and “Bad.” The suit alleges that Jones has not been compensated for work released posthumously by Jackson’s former handlers, citing the “This Is It” concert film and soundtrack album, Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil productions and a 25th anniversary edition of the late pop icon’s “Bad” album, Hollywood Reporter wrote. Jones, one of American pop music’s most influential behind-the-scenes figures, a composer, arranger, conductor, and record company executive, has worked with a catalogue of recording legends from Jackson, to Frank Sinatra to Barbra Streisand. |

You’re underwater in the middle of the ocean taking in the breathtaking views. Naturally, you’re going to want to check in on Facebook. OK, that’s not technically in the works, but a team of researchers have successfully tested an underwater wireless Internet network. And as futuristic as that may sound, it actually would happen years after NASA successfully launched Internet access in space. News.com.au reports that University of Buffalo researchers say any underwater Wi-Fi network would be used for practical purposes, such as monitoring ocean life and giving advance warning of tsunamis. “A submerged wireless network will give us an unprecedented ability to collect and analyze data from our oceans in real time," Tommaso Melodia, an associate professor of electrical engineering at the University of Buffalo, and the project’s lead researcher, said in a statement. “Making this information available to anyone with a smartphone or computer, especially when a tsunami or other type of disaster occurs, could help save lives.” In other words, your Instagram update will need to wait until you’re back in the boat. However, creating an underwater Wi-Fi network will not be as easy as dropping a few 4G hotspots into the ocean. Radio waves do not effectively transmit underwater. In the study, Melodia and his team used sound waves to create the wireless signal. Thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation, the researchers dropped two 40-pound sensors attached to a buoy into Lake Erie. After converting the sound waves to radio waves, they were able to detect "a series of high-pitched chirps" which "ricocheted off a nearby concrete wall," according to the University of Buffalo professor. Melodia says a future underwater network could be used for a wide range of activities, from helping law enforcement track drug traffickers to protecting the ocean’s inhabitants. "We could even use it to monitor fish and marine mammals, and find out how to best protect them from shipping traffic and other dangers," Melodia said. "An Internet underwater has so many possibilities." http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/underwater-wi-fi--coming-soon-to-an-ocean-near-you-021313948.html?.b=index&.cf3=Odd+News&.cf4=3&.cf5=The+Sideshow&.cf6=%2F |
London (AFP) - Several prominent British Muslims said police have warned they may be in danger, after they were named as enemies of Islam in a video purportedly made by extremists linked to Somalia's Shebab militants. London's Metropolitan Police said it was investigating the hour-long film, which was posted on YouTube on Wednesday but has since been removed. "We're aware of the video reportedly released by al-Shebab," a Scotland Yard spokesman told AFP. "We are currently assessing its content. A number of individuals have been spoken to following the release of the video." At least four Muslim commentators -- all of whom have spoken out against extremism -- said they had been visited by police after being named in the film. The US-based monitor SITE Intelligence Group had identified the video as having been produced by the Shebab, the Somali group that claimed responsibility for a bloody attack at a Nairobi shopping mall last month. Reportedly narrated by a man with a British accent, it singled out the commentators as having "mutilated the teachings of Islam", according to the Guardian newspaper. Ajmal Masroor, a London-based imam and journalist, wrote on his Facebook page that police had told him "to be more vigilant". "The basic message... was that my life was in imminent danger from the terrorists," he wrote. He added: "I shall speak out loud and clearly against extremism and terrorism no matter how many threats I receive." Mohammed Ansar, a filmmaker and journalist, said police were now regularly patrolling outside his home. "In between locksmiths, security people and interviews," he wrote on his Twitter page. "It is quite a thing to have your faith and values truly put to the test. To have your life and those you love, at risk. Quite a thing." Commentator Mohammed Shafiq and Usama Hasan, a senior researcher for the anti-extremist think-tank Quilliam, also said they had received visits from the police. The video was titled "The Woolwich Attack: It's an Eye for an Eye" in reference to the British soldier who was hacked to death in Woolwich, southeast London, on May 22. Two Muslim converts are due to stand trial for the murder next month. The video encouraged Muslims to carry out attacks on British soil, according to reports, as well as identifying 11 Britons who it said had died fighting for the Shebab. http://m.yahoo.com/rs/aHR0cDovL25ld3MueWFob28uY29tL3Byb21pbmVudC1icml0aXNoLW11c2xpbXMtd2FybmVkLW92ZXItc2hlYmFiLXZpZGVvLTIyMzcxMDc4OC5odG1s/1382250024/pnl.wu_z%3B_ylt=A2KIP62nJGJS5lIACCYp89w4 |
LONDON (AP) — It's a poignant scene familiar to anyone who has watched "Titanic" — as the doomed ship slides into the icy waters, musicians perform one last time for the passengers, playing with stoic resolve until the final hour. None of the musicians survived in the 1912 disaster in the North Atlantic, but a violin believed to be the one played by bandmaster Wallace Hartley will now go on auction. "It is just a remarkable piece of history," said Andrew Aldridge, of auctioneer Henry Aldridge and Son. "I have been an auctioneer for 20 years, but I have never seen an item that brings out this degree of emotion in people before." The violin, with Hartley's name on it, is believed to have been found at sea with the musician's body more than a week after the Titanic sank. The auction house, which specializes in Titanic memorabilia, expects the violin to fetch more than 200,000 pounds (US$323,300) when it goes on sale in southern England's Wiltshire on Saturday. Hartley and his seven fellow band members were among the 1,517 people aboard the Titanic who died after it hit an iceberg. According to some accounts, the band played the hymn "Nearer, My God, To Thee" to keep spirits up as the passengers boarded lifeboats in the early hours of April 15, 1912. The musicians have been hailed as heroes for sacrificing their chances of escape. "Mr. Hartley and the band were very brave people ... standing by their posts to the bitter end," Aldridge said. The auction house said the violin has been subject to numerous tests to check its authenticity since it was discovered in 2006. It said earlier this year that the violin was Hartley's "beyond reasonable doubt." The violin, of German make, was a gift from Hartley's fiancee Maria Robinson, and was engraved with the words "For Wallace on the occasion of our engagement from Maria." It can no longer be played, Aldridge said. http://m.yahoo.com/w/ygo-frontpage/lp/story/us/3424688/coke.bp%3B_ylt=A2KIP62nJGJS5lIA.SUp89w4%3B_ylu=X3oDMTFzZDdiY2Y1BGNwb3MDMQRjc2VjA21vYmlsZS10ZARpbnRsA3VzBHBrZwNpZC0zNDI0Njg4BHBvcwMyBHNsawN0aXRsZQ--?ref_w=frontdoors&view=today&.intl=us&.lang=en |
Ibadan — The first open heart surgery in a teaching hospital in Nigeria has been successfully carried out at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State. The feat was carried out by surgeons at the UCH in conjunction with a team of surgeons from Tri-State Cardiovascular Delaware, United States of America, A statement by the institution’s Head of Information Unit, Mr. Toye Akinrinola, disclosed that the four-hour surgery was to correct a leaking heart valve in a 19-year-old secondary school leaver. An elated Chief Medical Director of the UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge, noted that the UCH was moved to embark on the exercise as a way of alleviating the hardship being experienced by Nigerians with heart-related challenges. He stated that as the first teaching hospital in Nigeria, the UCH should take the lead in critical areas of medicine, propelling it into ensuring that complex surgeries (like open heart surgery) were carried out in the hospital. “We are the pioneer teaching hospital in Nigeria, and we should be taking the lead. We are going to do this and we intend to make it a continuous exercise. “In fact, within the next six months, we intend carrying out not less than 30 heart-related surgeries and at affordable cost to Nigerians.” Alonge, who lamented that Nigerians pay exorbitantly to undergo such procedures outside the country, pointing out that the cheapest rate outside Nigeria was about N2.5 million. “This is outside the airfare and hotel bills. It will run into millions. But with us here, it will be a lot cheaper and the access is there. The first surgery is heavily subsidised as a way of encouraging Nigerians to have confidence in our healthcare system.” Alonge stated that the Federal Government had given the UCH a mandate to improve on the training of doctors as a way of enhancing more access to adequate healthcare in Nigeria. Leader of the doctors from the USA, Dr. Kamar Adeleke noted that the patient would be back to his normal activities in less than two months. “He does not have anything to fear about life expectancy. He will soon resume his normal activities, and do all the things he was used to before he took ill,” Dr. Adeleke said. Adeleke gave assurance of his continued support to providing access to adequate healthcare as obtained in other developed countries. After more than a decade of of inactivity, open heart surgery resumed in the country at the of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu, at an average cost of N500, 000. http:///fMcBpyFgxm |
