Transsion holdings (owners of Tecno, iTel and Infinix) have no intellectual property rights over their products simply because they are just glorified marketers. They do not create, design or invent anything and do not have answers to the needs of their consumers.

What they do is to go to factories in China that mass produce phones and ask them to make X number of phones branded with the Tecno, iTel or infinix logo. These factories produce for Tecno and tecno sells them here in Africa.

Tecno releasees a lot of phones without OS and technical updates cos they have no intellectual input in the research and production of these devices. Unfortunately, these phones are sold to unsuspecting Nigerians at outrageous prices.

Xiaomi, a Chinese brand releases more phones than Tecno yearly and the support is massive. In 2015, Xiaomi sold about 70 million phones, yet the xiaomi products from 3 years ago are still getting updates while those who bought Tecno phones last year haven't gotten anything.

My sympathy goes to unsuspecting Nigerians that keep buying these interior Tecno, Infinix and iTel phones at outrageous prices. The phones are so useless that they don't sell them in India. It's only in Africa that they are sold. If you sell crap like Tecno in China, you may be sentenced to firing squad.

BENIN—THE Itsekiri community in Edo State has described as untrue the allegation that they were laying claim to the ownership of Gelegele community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.


The people said they have enjoyed close relationship with the Benin people, who they have strong historical and cultural ties with over the years.
The Itsekiri community was reacting to a protest last week led by one Chief Odion Olaye, alleging that the Itsekiri were annexing their land in Gelegele, where the state government intends to build an Export Processing Zone.
Reacting through a statement by Chief Yahya Pessu, the Ojomo of Warri Kingdom and Chairman, Itsekiri community, the group, noted that the elders and leaders of Itsekiri community met to deliberate on the issue and found out that there was no iota of truth in the allegation.
“Itsekiri ethnic nationality is not laying claim to the ownership of Gelegele area as alleged by the protesters. As a people, we are peace loving, not territorially ambitious and believe absolutely in the rule of law. “We maintain an enduring kindred relationship with the Benin people, with strong historical and cultural ties. We therefore, urged protesters to get their facts right and desist from acts that could jeopardise the excellent relationship between and the Benin people and the Itsekiri people in Edo state” it stated.
