Youths of Eket, Esit-Eket, Onna and Ibeno Local Government Areas yesterday morning embarked on a warning protest for Exxon Mobil to immediately relocate its headquarters to Akwa Ibom State.



The youths defied the heavy downpour and barricaded the gates of the company at its Housing Estate in Eket and the Airstrip with coffins and other traditional injunctions

Anshu Jamsenpa, aged 38 and mother-of-two who was born in Dirang, a remote mountain town in the north-west Indian district of Arunachal Pradesh, which borders Bhutan and Tibet, Jamsenpa the daughter of an Indo Tibetan Border Police officer father and nurse mother, Jamsenpa had three older sisters and a younger brother. She says she always knew she was different.

Jamsenpa, this year, she broke a world record and made global headlines when she became the first woman to conquer the 29,028-feet-tall (8,848 meter) Himalayan giant twice in five days — first on May 16, and then again on May 21.


JAMSENPA, SPEAK ON HOW SHE STARTED.

“I always think that I am very close to God, I am getting a blessing,” Jamsenpa tells of her emotional state while on the mountain. “I only feel that whenever I am at the top.”

“I did all kinds of training — running, gym, yoga, aerobics, hiking,” she says. She also scaled numerous peaks, including Nepal Peak from Sikkim in 2010.

Everything happened at the last moment. I didn’t have much time to prepare for this expedition, because I was working on (getting) sponsorship,” she says.

“I reached base camp and couldn’t register in my mind that I had actually planned to climb Everest.”


The biggest challenge, she says, was leaving behind her two daughters, then aged 5 and 10 years old.

“(Leaving them) was the hardest part … What I decided was this was a time, in my absence, for them to bond with their father.”

Jamsenpa made her attempt from the South Col, which sits on the Nepalese side, rather than the North Ridge, which begins within Tibetan borders.

“I can’t climb from the north side, because we have a visa problem with China. That is why I went from Nepal side,” she explains.

Turkish President Recep Erdogan has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his recovery from the medical condition that took him abroad.



This comes as part of felicitations with President Buhari from prominent personalities and leaders across the world after he returned to the country from the United Kingdom.

A statement signed on Saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, said the Turkish leader also exchanged Eid greetings with his Nigerian counterpart.

A young boy was said to have been crushed to death by a truck driver driven by an Hausa man in Aba, Abia state.

It was gathered that the truck driver ran away immediately people started gathering to see what had happened.

The boy who was crushed and his head smashed open is still laying dead at the catastrophic point as at the time of filing this report.

According to multiple online reports, the incident has caused a tension in the area as residents are looking for the driver to “mete justice” on him.

U.S former first lady, Michelle Obama showed off her legs as she stepped out for a workout and a yacht trip in Mallorca, Spain

She was surrounded by members of her staff tagging along for the sweat session, with members of her security team flanking her.

30-year-old Sulaiman Awokunle, has been handed a 6 months jail sentence by a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State, for reportedly stealing a ram kept for Sallah by Saka Idowu. .

His prosecutor, Elisa Olusegun, told the court that Awokunle stole the ram valued at N25, 000 at about 6am inside Onunrin’s compound in Iree, committing an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the criminal code, cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Odun state of Nigeria, 2003.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately mobilize personnel and resources to come to the aid of the victims of the flooding that occurred in Benue State which rendered many homeless.



The President also noted that he would closely monitor the situation and will be receiving regular updates on the scale of the disaster, as well as the Federal Government’s humanitarian response.

He made this known on Thursday in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu.
