During an interview, the interviewer, a middle-aged man asked me a rhetorical question, “Do you wish to identify with the sex you were born with or do you wish to identify with another sex?”

I retorted, “…the marginalized sex of course …” He looked up, confused, couldn’t write nor concentrate for some seconds and then I feigned a cough. He stared straight into my eyes as if searching for answers but when he couldn’t find one, he repeated the question.

Well, I maintained my stance to identify with the marginalized sex. This birthed a rhetoric filled with jaw-dropping sentences and semantics - I was not prepared for it and never would. It is like the handwriting on the wall, it is always there.

We wouldn’t be marginalized if we were allowed to be girls in the womb as our extended families and the local communities keep haunting our mothers with, “…hope it’s a boy this time…?”

We wouldn’t be marginalized if, at birth, our extended families and our communities frowned at us for been girls, wished we were male children cum ‘assets’ to continue the family lineage as against ‘liabilities’ of no value, to be sold and or married off in due time. We are the ‘legit’ targets of infanticide, femicide, sex-selective abortions, and early weaning in the fervent hope that our mothers get pregnant again and have a male child.

We are then subjected to the excruciating pains of Female Genital Mutilation, where we are forced to dance at infamous festivals to remove a part of us that could bring ‘shame’ to our families and communities. Hence, preventing us from enticing the boys, erasing our sexual prowess, just like an abomination which spews whoredom where a woman wants or enjoys sexual intercourse.

We are the ones who have to endure the agony of breast ironing where our breasts are pounded and flattened at the inception of puberty with spatulas, hot stones, and hammers to prevent it from developing - with the ‘ancient wisdom’ of protecting us from unwanted male attention, sexual harassment and rape. We are subjected to all manner of painful virginity tests before marriage and sometimes disvirgined in the process and still held in contempt.

We are the only ‘assets’ of forced child marriages, bride kidnapping, forced sexual intercourse and early pregnancy but immediately condemned as witches and occasionally get slain when complications like VVF and all other malignant arsenals attendant to early pregnancy occurs. We are still trafficked and or sold off as sexual and domestic slaves, where we may endure all manner of hardship and sometimes killed for ritual purposes.

And then we are the targets of Honor Killings, which according to Human Rights Watch, are acts of vengeance, usually death committed by male family members against female family members who are perceived to have brought dishonor upon the family. We could get killed just by minor suspicion, of having sexual intercourse or adultery, of dressing inappropriately, for seeking divorce from abusive marriages, for being victims of rape. To me, this is ‘patriarchal-misogyny’ which places a heavy burden on women to remedy the wrongs of men, while making it pertinent that we be and seen to be embodiments of honor, morality, and righteousness and must hold this ‘honor’ for our male-dominated families and patriarchy entrenching communities.

Aren’t we the vulnerable victims of rape, forced impregnation and all manner of sexual abuse?

While we felt we are championing the war against rape and all forms of violence and sexual abuse on women and the girl child, the recent case of Asifa Bano, an eight-year-old girl who was gang-raped, tortured and killed in order to scare and terrorize her community because of religious differences, has left us perplexed and in imminent fear of danger lurking in muddy waters. It is still saddening to note and remember the ‘celebrated’ case Mukhtar Mai, the 28 year old Pakistani woman who was gang-raped by the order of a Village Council because her brother who is 12 years old was accused of having an affair with an older woman and then again the revenge-rape of a 16-year-old girl whose brother raped another girl in Pakistan – still by an order of a ‘testosterone wielding’ Village Council.

Why must it be a woman that should carry all burdens of vengeance in all its ramifications?

Aren’t we the ‘paramount’ targets of acid attacks, stove burning and other vagaries in that nomenclature? For flimsy excuses like refusing a man’s date or sexual advances, to not preparing meals early enough for our husbands, to a mere suspicion of adultery or speaking to another man, to reporting to family members of the ordeals we are facing in marriage. Other times we are impugned to commit suicide, regarded as bitter women. More times, we are killed in crimes of passion and our ‘exterminator’ is absolved of guilt and probably given light sentence.

We are vulnerable and disproportionately suspected as witches and could be burnt, beheaded or buried alive where there is inexplicable illness or deaths even where such are vagaries of an epidemic, water or airborne diseases. This particular practice has graduated to the length that when a sick woman falls or faints on the road, people gather around her not to assist in getting her medical care, but to accuse her of returning from a coven or a haunting mission. She would ‘shoulder’ any bad omen that has happened within that vicinity from antiquity, therefore, she deserves jungle justice ranging from stoning, burning to being buried alive. How nice?

We are the ones who bear the society’s puckered brows when our husbands behave badly. We are the ones judged when he drinks, commits adultery, impregnates another woman, marries another woman and still blamed even when he commits a crime. Can we speak of a plethora of jeopardy women face in marriages! A friend of mine informed me about a new theme of abuse and violence against women; she allied to “dowry/bride price related violence”. I ignored it at first, but then I remembered that some wife beaters glorify themselves as ‘messiahs’ who rescued their wives from the ‘shame’ of spinsterhood and therefore these wives must be handy to bow to their whims and caprices. It goes on to the notion that women are depreciating properties acquired with some ‘non-refundable’ hard currencies and has now come to serve and service the egos of her Masters- her husband and in-laws. We noticed dowry/bride price related violence is more prevalent in countries like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh where it behooves on women to pay a dowry to their husband’s family; over there, it is called ‘Dowry death’.

We are sole femme when it comes to issues of infertility. The men are absolved because it is the women’s responsibility to make babies, which is why when a man is medically and sexually impotent; a woman is still pestered and harassed. It’s witchcraft when we don’t conceive even while the man is at fault; more terrible when we deliver a stillborn.

Mary is a primary 5 student at township primary school. She lost her dear mother to a road accident in 2015 leaving her with her biological father Daniel. Her father married a second wife Jecinta Waweru.

Mary has been doing all her duties as a girl but her step-mum has never appreciated it, she always complained about Mary saying that she only knows how to eat but she doesn't work .

Mary told her dad but her step mum denied everything ,Her step mum started mistreating her even food she was not given ,Mary would go to school without food and she would beg her classmates for some.

Mary was burnt seriously as you can see from the pictures, her body is in a bad shape.

The woman ran away leaving Mary to die , but Mary screamed and her neighbor came to rescue her , they immediately took her to the hospital before reporting the case to the police.

Over 60% of her body is damaged and now she is requiring a special treatment to save her dear life.

The Head of Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis has revealed he wants to change (correctly translate) the Lord's Prayer - as he thinks the current version implies that God pushes people toward sin.

He said the line "lead us not into temptation", memorized by hundreds of millions of Christians for centuries, is based on a flawed translation.
"It is not a good translation because it speaks of a God who induces temptation," the Pope said.
The implication is awkward for Christians, who believe it is Satan who tempts people to sin.
"I am the one who falls. It's not him pushing me into temptation to then see how I have fallen," the Pope explained.
"A father doesn't do that, a father helps you to get up immediately. It's Satan who leads us into temptation, that's his department."
The Pope's comments, made in an interview with Italian Television Network could lead to a change in the prayer, which is taken from the Bible and is considered by some to encapsulate the core messages of Christianity.
It also weighs in on a long-running liturgical debate over the nature of evil and the relationship between religion and language, explained Church of England theologian Reverend Dr Ian Paul.
The current version has been used by the Catholic Church since 1966, when the Second Vatican Council decided modern vernacular should be used in services instead of Latin.
Before being translated from the Latin vulgate it was translated from ancient Greek. The original text was written in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus.
Part of the uncertainty behind the line comes from the original Greek of the central word: peirasmos, which means temptation but can also be used in a more general sense to mean testing.
"The line has a broader sense - that we're asking God to protect us from really difficult testing," Rev Dr Paul said.
Some theologians argue that alternatives to the current line might suggest God is powerless to stop temptation by the devil.
"What the prayer does now is puts everything under the power and control of God," Rev Dr Paul said.
Pope Francis' remarks follow a decision on the subject by the French Catholic Church which voted last month to change to a translation approximating "do not let us enter into temptation".
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the United Kingdom, also known as the Mormons uses the adapted line "suffer us not to be led into temptation".

Jonghyun, full name Kim Jong-hyun, was one of the five members of Shinee, who have had a string of number one hits in their home country.
The Korean Herald said he was 28 years old. He was taken to hospital after being found unconscious in an apartment in Seoul, according to reports.
Police told the BBC Korean Service that suicide will be investigated as a possibility.
South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that emergency services were alerted by the singer's sister, and that he was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Jonghyun shot to fame when the band was formed by K-Pop hit factory SM Entertainment in 2008.
As well as being a singer and an accomplished dancer, he played a large part in the group's songwriting and production, and launched a successful solo career in 2015.
He has also made headlines for voicing his opinion on issues like the government's education policy and for speaking out in support of LGBT rights.

A 22-year-old lady, Ibukun (surname withheld), has recounted how she was ganged-raped by some hoodlums in the presence of policemen during the Lagos State Street Carnival.

Ibukun alleged that while the assault was going on, policemen who were close to the scene were watching her and refuse to protect her from being raped.

The victim said she was later rescued by someone who heard her when she was screaming for help but the hoodlums escaped when they heard footsteps and abandoned her.

She said: “The man that came to rescue me took me to paramedics stationed at the event, where they cleaned me and gave me first aid treatment. It was a horrible experience for me.

“My colleagues and I were employed as dancers to perform at the carnival by one of the organisers. But eventually the organisers did not pay us after the event. We decided to stage a protest because of their refusal to pay us.

“But while I was going to where my colleagues were standing to embark on the protest, some hoodlums came out from nowhere and surrounded me. They dragged me on the floor and collected my phone.

“Before I knew what was happening, they started tearing my clothes and underwear. They also dipped their hands into my bra and buttock, while they took turn to rape me.

“It took the grace of God for me to scream for help, because they overpowered me. They did everything with me without been challenged.”

Ibukun disclosed that they met the said the lady who contracted them at Teslim Balogun Stadium on Wednesday and Friday preceding the carnival for rehearsal, but they did not provide adequate security for them.

She added: “On the carnival day, we all gathered at the centre of the venue as instructed by Precious who contracted us for the job. When it was time for them to pay, she started coming up with different excuses.

“We were 500 in number that were contracted to dance at the carnival. We were going on the stage to protest when I missed my colleagues. It was in the process the hoodlums attacked and raped me.”

Ibukun disclosed that she had been dealing with the emotional and mental trauma of the attack which left her with bruises on her arm and private parts.

She said: “I therefore reported the matter at Area F Police Command.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chike Oti, confirmed the story.


Oti said the command was aware of the girl’s complaint, but it was making efforts to established contact with the victim.

He said: “When girl made the complaints, the divisional police officer of Ikeja Station and the Area F Command were contacted to ascertain her claim, but they both said nothing of such happened at the carnival.

“In our preliminary investigation, the Lagos State ambulance emergency management said they did not attend to such case as claimed by the girl; that they only treated those who fainted at the venue not rape victims.

Jonah Muwanguzi and Mugema David appeared before Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu Musenze on Tuesday and were charged with offensive communication.

The songs for which they were arrested compares Museveni Kaguta to Saddam Hussein the former President of Iraq from 16 July 1979 until 9 April 2003 when he was deposed in US invasion of Iraq.A leading member of the revolutionary Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, and later, the Baghdad-based Ba’ath Party, Saddam was executed on Saturday, 30 December, 2006.Adolf Hitler and vegetarianism on the other hand, was a German politician and leader of the Nazi Party, Chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and Führer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945 when he was deposed by allies at the peak of World War II.



Prosecution alleges that between 2015 and 2017 at Salama road in Makindye division, Muwanguzi and Mugema wilfully and repeatedly composed, recorded, produced and electronically communicated through social media a song titled ‘#Wummula’ [#retire] in a bid to force the president to leave power.

In the absence of a state prosecutor, Abdalla Kiwanuka, the duo’s lawyer could not secure bail for the young musicians.

They were remanded to Luzira until Wednesday. [Today]“You say you have done a lot but it is time to rest,” the musicians tell Museveni in their song.

They cite a poor education system, high taxes, a bad health sector with people dying in hospitals because of doctors’ strike yet teargas is always available to supress political opponents.“Help us and retire,” the musicians urged the president.

Their video shows images of former Libyan leader Col Muammar Gadhafi and his gruesome death. They also show the fall of Robert Mugabe who was recently deposed as Zimbabwe president.

“Even if you refuse to retire, remember what happened to other leaders who wanted to die in power,” the singers sign off with a warning that predicts doom for Yoweri Museveni Kaguta.

The five-time GRAMMY award winner, Elton John 70-year-old On Monday morning, the singer tweeted that his mother, Sheila Farebrother, had died at 92.

“So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning. I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock,”. “Travel safe Mum. Thank you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton.”

John also posted a photo of himself and his mom from June 2003, when they attended the Fifth Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball to benefit his foundation.

An American man has come forward claiming that his wife of 18 years wants to leave him for her 26 year old Kenyan boyfriend.

The kicker is the wife, Sarah, has only conducted her affair online.

It started in January where she claims that she stopped being attracted to her husband, Keith. So she went online to deal with her dissatisfaction and started a dalliance with a Ghanaian man.

They would send each other sexts and nudes.

When Keith caught her, she promised to stop the online romance. But she didn’t. And later she met her online Kenyan boyfriend, Kevin, whom she’s ready to leave her family for.

Keith is expectedly depressed stating on Dr Phil’s site, “Sarah said she no longer loves me, and she wants to start a new life with some guy from Kenya named Kevin she’s never even met other than online. She said she wants to divorce me and abandon me and my four children.”

Sarah believes that Kevin is genuine despite Keith’s fears that he could be using her for money or a Green Card.

Kevin is a pastor who runs an orphanage in Kisii. And Sarah’s beliefs in his being genuine can’t be shaken as she has spoken with his family online and they are very happy for Kevin.

An Administration Police officer in Bondo town, Siaya was on Monday night lynched by irate boda boda operators after he was allegedly mistaken for a motorcycle thief.

Rodgers Adianya, a constable at Nyang’oma Kogelo AP camp, met his death when the furious operators pounced on him with kicks and blows, killing him instantly.

According to Bondo Community Policing Committee Chairperson Juma Abuko, the officer had boarded a motorbike from Nyang’oma Kogelo to Bondo on Monday evening, unaware that his transporter was a suspected motorcycle thief.

Trouble started when the operators gave chase but the rider and his passenger were forced to seek refuge at Bondo police station. Thinking all was safe, the officer left the station for his home in Siaya and boarded a matatu at around 8pm.

A police driver on Monday morning caused an accident while driving on the wrong side of Mbagathi Road. The officer driving police vehicle registration number GKB 750D hit another vehicle, destroying its bumper. The incident was photographed by activist Boniface Mwangi who then shared of pictures of the scene on Twitter.

A WOMAN in Tororo Town shocked a fully-packed local court with an unusual revelation of how her husband demanded sex everyday even when she was on her periods.

Susan Kaitesi, 42, further astonished the court when she revealed that in their 19-year-long marriage, her husband even demanded sex when she was in labour with her last born child – a situation that led to her giving birth in the house.

Ms Kaitesi narrated that she once fainted when her husband had weird anal sex with her since the pain was unbearable.

“This man will kill me with sex; he does not get tired, even when I am fully pregnant he demands for sex,” she said.

The woman has since sued her husband, George Wakida, 46, for divorce saying that he is a sex maniac.

Shockingly, Wakida accepted all allegations levelled against him and testified that sex to him was the major reason he married Ms Kaitesi.

He said he had a right to make love to his wife whenever he deemed it fit even when she was on her monthly periods or in labour.

“I can make love to my wife in which ever manner I want because I married her for sex first and love later,” he said.

Ms Kaitesi said it was clear that her husband needed a younger woman who would give him all the weird sex styles because she was old and not strong enough to sustain the pressure.

An unidentified man went down on his knees to ask the “big question” “will you marry me” in the middle of a busy road in Mombasa-Nairobi, Kenya.

This action left many who witnessed it envy, as motorists and passengers using the busy highway came down and witnessed the rare scenario.

The young man knelt down and asked his fiancés hands in marriage and the lady wasted no time in shouting yes.

Ugandan Singer Winnie Nakanwagi alias Winnie Nwagi has come out to support the save music campaign, a movement by musicians demanding 90% of digital and print media exposure.

During an interview with Kansanga based Galaxy FM, she said, “You see we need to be selfish and think of ourselves first before others. You can never hear a Ugandan song play in Nigerian, never.”

She also added that collaborating with Nigerian singers is not worth it because many of them will not push the song in their homeland yet the songs become hits in Uganda.

Students of the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) Calabar campus yesterday was in disarray as the ASUU union of the school declared an indefinite strike, students of the school locked down the school gate and held the school’s VC and management staffs on arrest for their commencement of a strike action.

A Final year student who spoke to ROYALSGIST.COM said that the final year students were the most aggrieved because most of them love to graduate during this festive period.

The school management had called on the services of the Nigerian Police and the Civil Defense corps which could not get entry into the school due to the fact that the protesting students had shut down the gate and had setup a team of the students as the new security guards at the gate.

The school’s internal security team was over powered by the protesting students and was just watching events on fold with amazement. The school’s Public relation officer tried to talk out the students from further disruption of school normal activities, but all efforts were to no avail. Protesting students were seen with leafs and singing solidarity songs and chants.
