Politics / Re: Pics: PDP Alleges Moves To Change Kano Guber Appeal Judges by RMK19: 6:54pm On Nov 11, 2019
Please dear brothers and sisters, we should include Dadiyata in our prayers. He was kidnapped at gun point in his Kaduna residence on 1st August, 2019. It's more than 100 days now since he was abducted.
Dadiyata is a lecturer, PhD student, public analyst and social media critic. He is a staunch critic of Gov. El-Rufai and Gov. Ganduje. His wife and 2 daughters are longing to see their breadwinner.

May God protect, free him from his abductors and bring him back home safe.

Press Statement

PDP Alleges Moves to Change Kano Guber Appeal Judges
…Alerts of Connivance With APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts of moves by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and agents of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to influence the change of already listed judges of the Kano state Governorship Election Appeals Panel.

The party further alerts of plots to replace the judges with pliable ones, who have been compromised and briefed to alter justice and do the bidding of the APC and Governor Ganduje.

The PDP invites Nigerians to note that the sitting of the panel, which was moved from Monday, November 11 to Tuesday November 12, 2019 due to the public holiday on Monday, had been adjourned indefinitely.

We have reports that this was due to pressure being mounted by the APC and agents of Governor Ganduje to alter the list of the judges.

Our party has also been reliably informed that the indefinite adjournment was to enable the replacement of the already announced judges with pliable officials who will manipulate the judicial process in favour of the APC.

Already, the supporters of Governor Ganduje are in jubilant mode, claiming that they have moved beyond the Court of Appeal, even when the panel is yet to commence sitting.

Nigerians will recall that similar scenario played out during the composition of the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, when the initial judges were changed after which the judgment went in favour of Ganduje and the APC to the chagrin of the people.

With the on-going plot by the APC, Ganduje’s supporters have been going about boasting that the Court of Appeal judges, that were already announced and expected the commence sitting on Tuesday, will be changed to suit the interest of the APC and Governor Ganduje.

The PDP cautions that any change in the already listed judges could trigger tension and crisis in the state, given the demand of the people for justice.

Our party therefore calls on the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, not to allow anybody to draw her into the arena by ensuring that the already constituted panel is not in anyway altered.

Nigerians, especially the people of Kano state, are watching!

Signed:

Kola Ologbondiyan

The Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation has sponsored 242 graduates to India for masters’ degrees, just as the foundation is determined to sponsor a total of 370 graduates this year. Speaking during a send-off ceremony organized for the beneficiaries, the Supreme National Leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, said the 242 students were the first batch of the 370 students to be sponsored abroad for studies by the movement. ADVERTISEMENT Kwankwaso said only eight of the 242 beneficiaries would study masters’ degrees in Arabic and Islamic studies in Sudan, while the rest would study in four different Universities in India.

The former Kano state governor explained that the gesture was part of the Kwankwasiyya initiative to help the education of youth, especially those from the less privileged families. “The scholarship is part of the Kwankwasiyya education initiatives we have started while in government. When we are in government, we initiated many programmes under education such as free feeding, free uniforms to all primary school pupils and construction of various classrooms and many more others. “Today, Kwankwasiyya has sponsored 242 students abroad. Not only sponsoring them, but paid everything related to their studies, ranging from tuition fees, registration fees, accommodation, traveling tickets and returning tickets.” Kwankwaso assured that the movement would continue to sponsor more students abroad, adding that education was the bedrock of Kwankwasiyya’s activities. He called on members of the movement to double their contributions to enable the movement sustain the good work it started. He said the door of the foundation would remain opened for anybody that is willing to donate to the movement. In his remarks, the former Secretary to the State government, Dr Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, said Kwankwasiyya movement had since inception executed various humanitarian programmes that included empowerment of thousands of women and youth, empowerment of tea sellers, freeing many inmates, donation of tables and chairs to various schools across the state.

While in government, he built 2 higher institutions and sponsored thousands of students for both local and foreign studies. He also built hostels in several universities within the country to assist the sponsored students. He established more than 20 skill acquisition and sports institutes across the state. But for obvious political reasons, they are closed down now and abandoned.

Indeed you have to pity him, Kwakwaso seems to have a habit of taking over party structures that Shekarau had laboured to establish.
Imagine; after Shekarau had laboured to establish the then newly formed APC structure, Kwankwaso walked in as a PDP defector and took over; now that Shekarau has suffered to nurture the PDP state structure, Kwankwaso has yet again walked and taken over - haba the thing too much.

PDP Exco in Kano was dissolved in order to accommodate Kwankwasiyya into the Party Structure. The decision was Unanimously agreed by all the leaders in the State. We also know how Kano State govt is using some of our members to stop the bid in high court.

Politics / APC, Katsina Govt Bought Votes To Save Buhari — Kaita by RMK19: 8:50am On Aug 19, 2018
After the recent bye election of Katsina North Senatorial district, APC candidate emerged as the winner of the election. It is President Buhari's senatorial zone. The contest was surprisingly between brothers, the elder Kabir Babba Kaita of PDP and the younger, Ahmad Babba Kaita of the APC.
The PDP candidate however alleges massive voters inducement in the process and how dangerous it portends for the 2019 elections.

"The votes which I garnered in the election were genuine, devoid of any form of enticement either in terms of money or material things. The votes which the people cast for me, were purely based on the voters’ belief that I can deliver, based on my previous achievements in my community and in the larger society. For instance, at our ward, Galadima Ward  A, I scored 179 while the APC candidate scored 110. And people say charity begins at home. For people to accept you outside, you must be good and accepted in your home.’"
...
"The APC government, both at the state and at the federal levels, was involved in vote buying. I did not lose that election. It was widely in circulation that over N1bn was (allegedly) used by the ruling party, (the APC) on that election alone. Half a million naira was also said to have been (allegedly) earmarked for each of the 1,825 polling units in the senatorial district. This huge amount of money was supposed to be used to enhance the lives of the people of the state. Instead, the money was wrongly used to buy votes and in a very, very undemocratic manner. This development actually, did not speak well of a ruling party, which is claiming to be fighting corruption. This has clearly shown that corruption is at its peak by what we saw at the polling units on that day, during the election."

They have been rumors about clashes arising from defection of Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to PDP in Kano state. Mal Ibrahim Shekarau who is the former Governor (2003-2011) is in control of the party.
Recent developments shown governor Ganduje of Kano lobbying the long time rival of Kwankwaso, Mal Shekarau, to APC to give him Senatorial ticket and the deputy governors seat to help fight Kwankwaso.

But what appears is Kwankwaso and Shekarau are working towards reconciling and taking over the state from APC to enable them fight their common rival, President Muhammad Buhari.
Sen Kwankwaso is expected to declare for the Presidential contest while Shekarau would take over the Senate seat. And both of them would choose the next governor of the state based on their agreements.

Politics / Kwankwaso: I Can Guarantee PDP That I Will Beat Buhari If Given The Chance by RMK19: 10:24pm On Jun 30, 2018
The author of The Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu recently met Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Below is some excerpts from his interaction with Senator Kwankwaso.
......
......
.....

"I left him and headed to Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso’s home. We had met in South Africa last year and I was looking forward to this interaction. Our recent meeting was graciously arranged by his wonderful son, Mubarak, a much younger friend of mine, very calm and intelligent. Kwankwaso was having dinner with his hordes of supporters when his son sent him a message that I was around. He immediately asked that I should be ushered in to join them at dinner, but I already had mine. He looked very relaxed despite the tension of the moment. I waited for him to finish and we moved into his small office. He reminds me of the friend of the ‘talakawa’, in the mold of late Mallam Aminu Kano.

My first question to him was if he’s still in APC since he boycotted their National Convention in Abuja last week. He smiled, almost sarcastically, and said, it was obvious some people did not want to see his face there and he too did not dignify them with his presence. “A man who respects himself should never force himself on anyone,” he stated. He said he is proud of his contributions to APC and how God used him to deliver 1.9 million votes to Buhari in the last election. Does he mean he has finally dumped the party? He appeared serious this time without exhibiting any bitterness: “I’m a free man now and available to try my luck elsewhere but I know that PDP is the biggest party and as long as they follow democratic principle, Buhari will easily be defeated, but if they handpick and force any candidate on the party, they will fail. “

I really enjoyed the way he analysed things and broke down the politics of Presidential electioneering in his own simple terms: “PDP needs someone from the 3k States, Kano, Katsina and Kaduna to win the next election. That’s where the votes are. It would be difficult to win if they pick someone from any other zone…” This was new approach to me. So, I asked if he feels he is the only candidate who can beat Buhari in a popularity contest, he said “of course, yes.” He likes to showcase his humongous achievements as the Governor of Kano State. He has compiled his work into a book and I must say, it is very impressive. He expects Nigerians to allow him replicate what he has done in Kano nationwide. His experience also as a former Defence Minister makes him a veritable choice to tackle the menace of terrorism in Nigeria.

He claims he gave APC the structure that produced the monumental result that catapulted Buhari back to power and that he still holds that magic wand. He said there is no way Buhari can repeat such impressive showing in Kano when he is fighting him and his counterpart, the former Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau. He studiously avoided discussing the chances of Atiku picking the PDP ticket and if he would support who ever emerges as the flagbearer of the party. His simple and non-committal response is that he cannot hand votes over to those who are not better than him and that PDP would have to think well and make the best decision.

“I can guarantee them that I will beat Buhari if given the chance…” he declared before we stood up to take pictures to commemorate our meeting. As I said good night, I could see the face of a man so determined to go into battle with Buhari, but in need of a good and viable platform.

The next days ahead should be very interesting indeed"

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has not been in good terms recently with the ruling party, APC. He didn't even attend the recent convention for fear of clashes or maltreatment.
There are strong indications that he might defect to the PDP to pursue his presidential ambition, though, he is yet to declare. On the APC National convention day, he visited former VP Atiku Abubakar instead. And recently, he has been seeing around some PDP bigwigs.

Yesterday, he was in Ekiti State for a visit. He was spotted with Governor Ayo Fayose and a large turnout of the Northern community in the state. A meeting with the Governor, Kwankwaso and the Northern community took place in the government house. The issue of discussion is yet to be found out but it would clearly has consequences on the upcoming gubernatorial elections in the state. The Northern community would eventually vote in favour of the Governors party, the PDP, based on this familiarity visit and common interests.

Please the guy you just replied right now has been categorized by most of us here on NL as well known paid Buhari supporter. You know those people who if Abacha was contesting today, would stubbornly stick to nice things to say about him.

Please, observe every political post on Nairaland. You will find him jump in (shortly after a thread has been created) to die-hard support Buhari, whether what he has to say makes sense or not.

He will also jump in to tow the line of the executive (or the faction of the APC in which Buhari finds himself) on any issues at all (even those like Dino Melaye).

Only on the Benue issue was he sort of shamed (because he comes from Benue state, and there was nothing much he could say in defense of the horrors there).

To be honest, based on the ground observation, Kwankwaso has already swept the NW votes and NC. Only in some North East states like Borno etc Kwankwaso would get a half or near votes.
He has already built a mobilizing structure in each and every LG in Nigeria a long time ago across all political parties. He isn't partisan is lobbying into his Kwankwasiyya movement. The greatest surprises are reserved for the last moments.

BREAKING: Kwankwaso visits Atiku
Rabiu Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar during a visit to the later's abode

Rabiu Kwankwoso, a serving senator and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, on Saturday night visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Abuja, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

What the duo actually discussed could not be immediately ascertained, but the visit was confirmed by the former vice president’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe.

PREMIUM TIMES confirmed that Mr Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, arrived at about 8:30 p.m. at Mr Abubakar’s home in Asokoro district of Abuja.

Those close to the senator told PREMIUM TIMES he only went to pay a homage to Mr Abubakar because the top politician was not in the country during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations last weekend.

Mr Abubakar, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, is eyeing his party’s presidential ticket for 2019.

Mr Abubakar decamped from the APC in August 2017, alleging marginalisation and maladministration against the ruling party.

Mr Kwankwaso has not yet decamped from the APC, but he is amongst the current top politicians who are finding it increasingly difficult to remain in the party.

Mr Kwankwaso has been locked in a fierce political confrontation with the current Kano governor, Umar Ganduje. Over the past two years, several attacks and reprisal attacks between the supporters of the two politicians have been reported.

The APC held its national convention today, with a serious fallout expected as party bigwigs outwit themselves in a bid to control their strongholds. Mr Kwankwaso is amongst those feared to have lost out heavily in today’s event.

Whether tonight’s meeting between Messrs Kwankwaso and Abubakar had to do with a political future of the senator would be clearer later, sources said.

“They only touched on the future of Nigeria as a nation, but not necessarily their individual futures,” a source said.

Mr Ibe said there was no need to speculate beyond the affirmation that the two met for 45 minutes.
