Most of them don't know what to do when they get to site-no experience.
They rely on their masons and carpenters to even do setting out not to talk of fixing the foundation starter bars.
I have been in the field long enof to know about them.

Coren is trying but the engrs need to do better.

For me, the major culprits to this collapse thing is the clients. They most go for cheap and inexperienced labour

The thing is that if any structural member of the building is terrible, those your blocks you mould yourself will crumble, when such member fails.
Haven't you seen 5-storey building still under construction without blocks put up yet.

All I can say is that, the quality of work done on this collapsed building was very very poor.
I mean, look at the spacing of the columns links, and the casting looks sandy for a structure of such magnitude.

I have said it severally, the day most clients learn to get competent engineers to handle their projects, they will save themselves alot of money.

Quacks are cheap indeed, but they are not knowledgeable about structures and what occurs within.
