I asked this question July 27...and I came across the question today! I became perplexed...but thanks to the beans I ate this morning, I was able to figure out something, which I thougt wise to share (read my siggy)

How do I find x?

Ok...the real question is...
The nth term of the sequence 2,6,18,54....is 4374. Find the number of n.
A. 9 B. 8 C. 7 D. 6

Its G.P so..
a=2 , r = 3
We know that ar^n-1=nth term
So,
2*3^(n-1) = 4374
3^(n-1)=4374 = 2187

The problem for me was, how do I find the cube root of 2187 without calculator (dnt mind uniben )

The simple method I discovered was, Divide the number by 3 till u get 1
I.E. 2187/3 =729--->1
729/3 = 243---->2
243/3 = 81 ---->3
81/3 = 27 ---->4
27/3 = 9 ---->5
9/3 = 3 ---->6
3/3 =1 ---->7

Dat means, multypling 3 by itself 7 times will give u 2187
Therefore, 3⁷=2187

So to continue solving...
3^(n-1) = 3⁷
3 cancels out 3
n-1 = 7
n=7+1
n=8

PsNote! Its a lazy method sha...I don't wanna go with Binomial theorem or logarithm method,,, so if u loss in exam hall, don't wish me bad o
