InvestmentOML 113 Updates And Partners by rockyroad(op): 12:18pm On Aug 12, 2015
Does anyone have word on progress at OML 113?

Panoro, one of the jv partners, has had a hard time, but there's not much info around on them.
Strong operating partners in Folawiyo, but obviously risks from everything happening around PIB, NNPC, PMB etc
PoliticsOil Minister Mofe Boyo? by rockyroad(op): 4:59pm On Jun 09, 2015
What does everyone think of Boyo's chances of the petroleum resources ministry?

I suggest higher than Wale Tinubu because the President will be aware of the need to keep clear water between Jagaban and the ministry and private business like Oando that's generally well thought of.
BusinessJagal As Big As They Claim? by rockyroad(op): 10:12am On May 22, 2015
Hi all,

are Jagal as big as they claim? "one of the leading conglomerates in Nigeria?"

I'd like to know more about them, but their website doesn't mention their backers or mgmt and searching on here it just looks like they hire a lot but don't produce much.

I know they were involved in the SAB Miller plant in Anambra but other proof of work is thin on the ground.

Happy Friday.
PoliticsTY Danjuma's Role In Elections by rockyroad(op): 10:48am On Mar 09, 2015
How does everyone perceive TY Danjuma's role in elections?

Think it's notable that since he softened his stance towards GMB, GMB made his Chatham House speech saying there would be no witch hunt for fortunes made on informally distributed/historical oil bloc deals, which many took to mean the fortunes of billionaires would be safe.

This said, Danjuma has campaigned for GEJ and secured him votes in the North before.

And what of Daisy Danjuma -- do we see her campaigning at all? She seems to have stepped back from the political scene.
PoliticsRe: Who Awarded Sani Bello's Oil Blocks In 1993? by rockyroad(op): 4:28pm On Feb 16, 2015
and what is the view now on his involvement with Amni?

He doesn't appear on their website, chairman and CEO is now Tunde Afolabi.

Is Bello still involved with oil but just not with Amni?

Thank you
PoliticsWho Awarded Sani Bello's Oil Blocks In 1993? by rockyroad(op): 3:40pm On Feb 16, 2015
Does anyone know who awarded Sani Bello the oil blocks now comprising Amni's assets in 1993?
I am guessing IBB because of his free hand with the oil, but 1993 was 1993, so hard to ascertain facts...
PoliticsRe: Northerners Own 83% Oil Blocks In Nigeria #PIB by rockyroad: 4:55pm On Feb 13, 2015
Does Bello still have involvement in Amni? His name is absent from their site and he handed the chairman role to Tunde Afolabi some time ago?
InvestmentKase Lawal And Camac Energy -- Time To Buy After Oil Plunge? by rockyroad(op): 11:59am On Feb 03, 2015
Hello,

What do we think about Camac as an investment after oil plunge? Has to be a buy at the moment.

Kase Lawal also seems to have been playing more straight and narrow after DRC gold incident, though he is PDP allied so have to consider implications of APC victory?

True or false he is close to Diezani?

All opinions welcomed
InvestmentInvestment In Solar Power Project by rockyroad(op): 10:03am On Nov 29, 2014
Hi,

I'm thinking of investing in solar power...what does everyone think of this as a future opportunity in Naija?

I know there are some greenfield sites in Kaduna that look interesting, and it's an area where Lebanese and South Africans are already interested.

Blessed weekend.

InvestmentRe: Caverton Helicopters -- Good Time To Invest? by rockyroad(op): 11:47am On Nov 13, 2014
Hi there, thanks, agree that they still have oil-focused activities here, just mean that investing in oil services is more insulated from oil prices than investing in Brent/WTI directly.

It'll be some months/years before the oil services firms start to feel the impact of the lower prices/lower investment, is my thinking.

I know Caverton have been caught up in some reports about Diezani's private helipcopter spending and also their aircraft have been involved when Amaechi has been grounded, but generally they have a good reputation I think?

The Ogas there are Makanjuolas right?
InvestmentCaverton Helicopters -- Good Time To Invest? by rockyroad(op): 11:47am On Nov 12, 2014
Hi,

what do we all think of investing in Caverton at the moment?

My friends in investment tell me they are still optimistic for oil services firms, especially those run by ex-Shell and ex-banking guys, even though oil price is so weak.

Might be another way of leveraging Naija oil exposure but without getting burned by the oil benchmarks.

All thanks
BusinessIs Doing Biz In Naija Possible Without Corruption? by rockyroad(op): 12:16pm On Nov 10, 2014
How easy do you think it is to do business without being tempted into corruption?

Can you name any Naija business leaders you believe not to be corrupt?
PoliticsAtiku Backers -- Akin Kekere-ekun? by rockyroad(op): 9:24pm On Nov 05, 2014
Hello all,

do we know who are the big cheeses backing Atiku for the APC ticket?
Is ex-Habib bank Akin Kekere-Ekun's name registering at all, I wonder? I know there have previously been discussions over their closeness, and I'm interested to know whether he'll be backing the Atiku ticket.

His wife of course has separate ambitions as a prominent member of the judiciary, what a couple.
