A strange Pikachu statue was erected in Coliseum Park, Louisiana, United States during the night. Nobody knows about its origins are shrouded in mystery, but fans definitely love the pose of the structure. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GTvdPYKDp0s/V6PNzW0U2gI/AAAAAAAAFSY/Tl8104OH0Es/1470352647021.jpg It seems people are taking Pokémon Go too seriously . The statue is inscribed with the hashtag #pokemonument. The grand sculpture's origin is a mystery, but it came to the internet's attention earlier this week. The statue is located on top of a non functional fountain, is a glorious depiction of Pikachu, the most famous Pokemon in the world. Pikachu's arms are crossed and the fictional critter wears a determined look. A Pokeball sits on the base. The statue is made to look like an ancient sculpture , like it's been there for years, but visitors report it's likely made from either resin or fiberglass. Pokemon Go fans are taking pilgrimages to the statue and posting about it on social media. Twitter user Angel Giuffria posted a GIF of a person in a plush Pikachu costume dancing next to the monument and reports that people are leaving offerings and rubbing the creature's belly. The rogue statue seems like it might have a chance of staying in that place for quite some time, barring the city deciding to pluck it from its perch or more of the sort of vandalism captured here . Pokemon Go has inspired millions of game downloads, encouraged previously shut-in gamers to go outside and received criticism over updates to the game . The real-world adventure and augmented- reality elements of the game are part of what makes it so compelling. The Pikachu statue just adds to the game's mythology by elevating the rodent-monster to monument stature. |

Op just tell your friend that he and his friends have committed a great crime punishable by THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT , CAP E9, LFN 2004. This Act focuses on the protection and management of Nigeria’s wildlife and some of their species in danger of extinction as a result of overexploitation. These sections are noteworthy: Section 1 prohibits, except under a valid license, the hunting, capture or trade in animal species, either presently or likely to be in danger of extinction. Section 5 defines the liability of any offender under this Act. Section 7 provides for regulations to be made necessary for environmental prevention and control. He is therefore a criminal |
MTN, after losing Millions of subscribers in a tussle with the
NCC and suffering the biggest casualty in the
ongoing Data Wars, the telecommunications
giant has managed to retain its spot as
Nigeria’s largest network. Perhaps this is
why it appears to be the easiest target.
Coming fresh off the heels of a ₦300bn
settlement with the NCC , is a fresh lawsuit
worth ₦ 16bn filed against MTN Nigeria by
the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) According to ITPulse : In a motion filed on June 20, 2016 at the Federal High Court, Lagos by a foremost Intellectual Property lawyer, Mr. Justin Ige, COSON asked the court for six different declarations of copyright infringement allegedly perpetrated by MTN in the MTN Friendship’, ‘Connect’ or ‘Walk In’ Centres across Nigeria; the MTN ‘Road Shows’ in Nigeria; the various MTN Music Concerts, Festivals, Award Shows, Product Activations and Corporate events; the MTN Callertunez platform; the MTN Music Plus platform and the MTN Mobile Radio. COSON is reportedly claimed to have devoted enormous time and resources in appealing to MTN to obtain the appropriate licences and pay requisite royalties for the musical works and sound recordings deployed by the company but that no attempt made by COSON has got MTN to meet its lawful obligations”. I for one know that Caller Ring Back Tune (CRBT) industry in Nigeria is worth billions of Naira, with high profile artistes amassing as much as $200,000 of the revenue cut. If MTN is paying artistes royalties for their music, how could it possibly be infringing on their copyright? Could this be a case of COSON wanting to play middleman by all means? According to COSON, MTN keeps a staggering 60% – 70% of the revenue made from CRBTs to itself, leaving Record Labels, VAS providers and the artistes themselves to scuffle for the remaining 30% – 40%. As unfair as that might seem, it appears to be norm all over the world. But rather than filing lawsuits, artistes are finding other ways to take back power. That being said, the lawsuit goes beyond just CRBTs. COSON is also suing MTN for copyright infringements in music downloads, music concerts, award shows and product activation. They’ve gone further to request for an injunction restraining MTN, its agents or privies from the continued infringement of the copyright in the musical works and sound recordings belonging to members, affiliates and assignors of the society. There is no official statement from MTN yet addressing these allegations. New global CEO , Rob Shuter, sure has hands full with this disheartening welcome . http://www.naijatechguy.com/2016/06/ncon-sues-mtn-nigeria-for-n16bn.html Via www.nairaland.com |
