Citizenship of South Africa or Lesotho.

Bachelor’s or Honour’s graduate (depending on the academic year to enrol for), completed or to be completed by the time the student would depart for France.
Acceptance from three selected French institutions of the candidate’s choice. Students should apply for admission to these universities concurrently to the bursary application (admission letters or at least correspondence with the institutions will be required for complete applications).
Maximum academic fees (administration and tuition fees combined) financed with a full scholarship: 5000€. For academic fees higher than 5000€ co-financing options must be provided (personal savings and/or enterprise sponsorship).
No knowledge of French language required, depending on the availability of study course in English. Courses relating to the French Language (i.e. translation, interpreting or French language teaching) must follow a different application process. Internship Description: Current Regional Programme UNODC Internship for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries (Regional Programme) is a core part of UNODC’s programme response in West and Central Asia. Dundee University Global Excellence Scholarship Program: The Global Excellence scholarship is available to you if you are an undergraduate student entering your first year of study at the University of Dundee. If you are eligible to be awarded the scholarship, the amount will be deducted from your tuition fees meaning that any fees due will be minus the scholarship value. The tuition fee you pay is based on your academic year of entry and not the tuition fee published at point of application.

If you have achieved the equivalent of UK A-Levels at AAB or above, then you will be automatically assessed by our Admissions team and awarded the scholarship at a value of £5,000 per year of study. We will notify you in writing if we have awarded you the scholarship. To continue to receive the scholarship each year, you will also need to meet progression criteria and meet the registration and award criteria. Please take a look at our entry grades equivalencies.
If you have achieved less than UK A-Levels AAB, then we will review your application and may invite you to apply for the scholarship. The value of the scholarship for application is £5,000 in entry year only. In general, applications will be considered if your qualifications are UK A-Level BBB or above, however we will review all applications on an individual basis and a decision will be made by our scholarship panel.

All grade equivalencies are at the discretion of the University of Dundee.

About the Award: The Trust was established in 1899 by public subscription to honour the name of General Charles George Gordon of the British army, who was killed during the Mahdi’s uprising in 1885. Gordon Memorial College, an educational institution in Sudan, was built between 1899 and 1902 as part of Lord Kitchener’s wide-ranging educational reforms, and also named in honour of Gordon. In 1924, the college was merged with the new Khartoum University, as was the Kitchener School of Medicine.

The Trust may also give financial assistance to Sudanese and South Sudanese nationals towards the costs of shorter training programmes, projects and courses in the UK, and applications for funding support of new courses will also be considered.

Eligibility

In awarding grants, priority will be given to students who are already enrolled on a course in the UK, rather than those wanting to embark on new postgraduate courses.

Clarendon Scholarship - Oxford University, UK - The prestigious Clarendon Scholarship for graduate study at the University of Oxford, UK, is now open for applications for the 2018-2019 session. All applicants for graduate study at the University are eligible. Clarendon scholars come from all continents in the world: from the USA to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria. About 140 scholarships are awarded each year.
Scholarship Details

The Clarendon Scholarships are awarded to academically excellent students with the best proven and future potential. The awards are sponsored by Oxford University Press and are only available at the University of Oxford. The scholarships are for graduate degrees and open to full-time and part-time students. Decisions on awards are based solely on academic merit.
Worth of Awards

Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full and a generous grant for living expenses.
The grant for living expenses for scholars on a full-time course is normally sufficient to cover the living expenses of a single student living in Oxford.
Scholars on a part-time course receive a pro-rata amount of the full-time grant for living expenses. Part-time Master’s scholars are offered 1/3 of the full-time grant per year for two years. Part-time DPhil scholars are offered 1/6 of the full-time grant per year for six years.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria vary slightly depending on the subject area and whether applicants apply for a taught or research degree, but include:

An excellent academic record is essential: A first class honours degree or its equivalent (a GPA score of at least 3.7 if the mark is out of 4) or an outstanding academic record at Master’s level is necessary. Other indicators of high academic achievement may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information on your overall position within your cohort; and publications (if applicable).
Aptitude for the proposed course of study: This may be assessed by reviewing academic references, the research proposal, demonstrated evidence of aptitude for research, and the likelihood the scholar will contribute significantly to their field of study.

This year a new category, Breaking News, has been introduced to the Awards. It recognises skill in storytelling, substance and completeness in covering an unanticipated, unplanned or developing new event within the day. The emphasis of this awards is not only on the ability of journalists to report under the pressure of deadlines, but on subsequent days, their ability to sustain reporting that illuminates key issues pertinent to the original event in a manner that provides context and depth.

Two categories were renamed, broadened or refined for clarity of description and scope. News Illustration is a new category that has been expanded from Editorial Cartooning to include news cartoons, comics, live sketches graphics and illustrations. What was previously the Photojournalism category has been expanded and renamed photo and video journalism to recognise excellence in visual storytelling.

About the Award: Apply Now : Danish Foreign Affairs Ministry Grants provides grants for development research activities as part of Denmark’s international development cooperation. Two windows are available in 2018, providing grants for research with partners in Danida priority countries and for research with partners in growth and transition countries.

Phase 1 is the first step of a process in which applicants submit research proposals leading to prequalification. Phase 2 is the submission of a full application by those selected (“prequalified”).

Eligibility:

In accordance with the overall objectives of Danida’s support for research, grants will be awarded to strategic research cooperation which generates new knowledge relevant to the needs and strategies of the growth and transition countries and contributes to strengthening research capacity in these countries.
It is important to note that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 constitute an overall thematic framework for development cooperation and research.
Applications can only be submitted by universities or by a research-based institution (public and private) in Denmark, which will be responsible for the grant. The project coordinator must be attached to that institution.
At the time of submitting the application, the project coordinator must hold a PhD or equivalent qualification, documented clearly in the CV. Documented evidence that he/she is a Professor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor is regarded as equivalent to a PhD.

Selection Criteria: The relevance of the proposal is evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

The focus of the project is well-defined with respect to the announced research theme in the chosen partner country;
The project contributes to the overall objectives of the Danish strategic sector cooperation in the country (where relevant) or is otherwise relevant for strengthening commercial or political cooperation with Denmark;
Preferably, the project includes private sector partners or has potential for such a partnership in a possible subsequent funding phase.

The scientific quality of the proposal is evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

The research experience and qualifications of the project coordinator and the team;
The originality and innovative nature of the project, in terms of generating new knowledge;The effect of the research is evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
The potential direct effects with respect to the selected sustainable development goal (s);
The effects of the project in terms of the partnerships with public and private sector which could take the research to the next step;
Strengthened research capacity of the project, which should add value for both the Danish and the partner institution.

Selection: A Consultative Research Committee for Development Research (FFU) is tasked with assisting the MFA by providing professional and scientific advice in relation to research applications and projects.

DKK 5 million for each project.
The total budget available for this research window is approximately DKK 60 million. The funding is conditional of the Danish Parliament’s approval of the 2018 Finance Bill.
It is envisaged that the extension project could be up to 5 years’ duration with an additional grant of up to DKK 10 million.

French Embassy Masters/PhD Scholarship Programme- The Embassy of France in South Africa offers scholarships for students who wish to do a Master’s degree or a PhD in France for the 2018/2019 academic session.

About the Award: Launched in 2010, the French Embassy Masters and PhD scholarship programmes form part of the commitment between France and South Africa to establish fruitful partnerships between their universities while building a vast network of academic and professional contacts.

Masters Scholarships

Eligibility: The Embassy of France invites students who wish to continue their tertiary education at Masters Level in France to apply for its bursary programme for the academic year September 2018/2019

Students must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.
As more and more Master programmes are taught in English, basic knowledge of French is desirable, but not required.

Number of Awardees: 20

Value of Scholarship: Tuition fees, the Schengen visa fees, a monthly stipend towards living expenses, health insurance and the flight tickets.

Duration of Scholarship: Students can either apply for the first year of a Master’s degree (M1) or, if they have an honours degree, the university may admit the student into the second year of a Master’s degree (M2) in order to complete their degree after one year. The duration of the grant is therefore one year, once renewable should a student originally admitted in M1 continue with the M2 programme.

PhD Research Grants

Eligibility: The French Embassy of South Africa bursary programme is currently proposing grants for 2017 to facilitate international academic and scientific mobility for researchers towards French institutions of higher education.

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent.
There is no deadline for applications, and students are invited to apply throughout the year. It is however advised that students apply early in the year due to limited available funding.
