Odegard was an attacking midfielder and even played as a winger at Socieda. But right now at Arsenal, he's restricted to the RCM(not AM) position. He's not playing close to goal like Palmer, Bruno etc. His job is more controlling. Besides he's playing under a defensive coach. Ode has really regressed though.

Bruno on the other hand is playing as a 10 almost as a second striker at times in a more open team where he's allowed to try things and spam hopeful long passes. Of course his numbers will be better. Go and check United's position when Bruno was tasked at CM duties. He gave so many ball away and rushed things.

If United become title contenders I'll judge Bruno from there. He's the shining light in a dark team. He's a good player though but his job is different from Odergard. A team who wants to control the game against quality oppositions may not need Bruno.

You and I know there is no way Manchester United will become a title contender with that loopsided team.
I don't just have time now but I would love to check odegaard's season as an attacking midfielder and compare it to Bruno's worse season as one I am sure Bruno go almost dwarf odegaard's season.

I just feel Bruno is always disrespected because he plays for a weakened Manchester United team. He no get any metric wey I go use rate odegaard above Bruno. Bruno is way better than odegaard.
Just look at the lovely assist he gave cunha last weekend, defender no even expect am. Every time I watch odegaard, it is either he is holding on to the ball unnecessarily or he is basically looking for saka only.

Now back to your question. DM position to me is the easiest and safest position to play on the field because there's usually enough space afforded to you to think and decide. That luxury isn't affordable elsewhere on the pitch.

Receive,give,take,open,receive,give,take,open. To play DM no be rocket science once you have your good first touch and more adventurous with your passes.

Now what makes a good DM? A simple good first touch and a working brain.

Palmer has a good first touch and can be coached on what to do when you have the ball.

He can easily beat the first press which is another advantage.

You forgot the major work of the DM which is to protect the defence. Does palmer have any defensive attribute in him at all?

Mendy's own was self destruct actually. Everything was going well for him then I think he was ignored for a particular award then he started this useless ball playing rubbish.
I want to believe if he had not start believing he was a ball playing keeper he might still be our number one goalkeeper.

This stat always makes me boil. This is the same stat Sanchez had at a particular point in the match where he had 27 touche of the ball more than anyone on the pitch. Touches that should go to midfielders more who will define the play is what these keepers are hoarding.
