Nazgul:
Tinubu didn't transform Lagos. Whoever told you that he did lied to you.

Fashola and Ambode are the best governors Lagos has ever had since 1999, cos their achievements are visible even to the blind.
The ''transformation'' of Lagos is not a one-governor affair.

Tinubu began the process of transformation.

There was no way he was going to ''transform Lagos'' in the few years he was governor, especially if you know what Lagos was like back then.

Governance is a continuum.

Of course they will give him the best reception, untill he pays their loan.
Who wouldn't pamper their debtors ? especially when you are aware your money and the interest therein is at stake.
If possible you will even offer free treatment any time they fall ill just to keep them alive till you get your money back.
That's exactly what China is doing to Tinubu.
FOOLISH REASONING.

Many other countries owe China far more than Nigeria, and the Chinese haven't honoured them with state visits and 21-gun salutes.

Free2Fly:
Stop this stupidity, you goat.
Who told you AI runs a country huh
Olodo. Who said anything about AI running a country?

Do you even know what AI is?

By the way AI will SOON be ''running the country''.

Perhaps in the next 100 years or earlier.

The entire world is headed that way.

Technology will not wait for Nigeria to ''get its act together'' or ''elect the right leaders''.

It will ENGULF Nigeria just like every other nation on Earth, with the power of new technological breakthroughs like AI, Quantum Computing, and ZERO-POINT ENERGY (IE FREE ENERGY).

And CATAPAULT the world into an era of abundance.

Did bad leaders prevent you from accessing the internet, using smart phones, driving a car, and other things your grandparents couldn't even imagine?

No.

Technology engulfed your country, regardless of the leaders.

Today, the communication issue is totally resolved.

We are telling you that technology is headed in the direction of solving EVERY OTHER PROBLEM AS WELL, from health to food to transport to education to social issues to security.

It will not stop at communications.

Do you know that scientists are researching FOOD REPLICATORS?

A replicator produces your meal instantly on demand. The closest thing we have to that today is 3D food printing, so we're getting there.

In future, the ultimate version of a food replicator would involve converting energy directly into matter, ie food, as seen in science fiction. This would require mastery of quantum physics and matter-energy conversion, according to scientists. But we are getting there.

Now imagine in the next 80 to 100 years or so, food replicators become commonplace.

Just like today's microwaves?

HUNGER ISSUE SOLVED!

No need to labour in the farm.

Or go to the market to price okro and crayfish.

Just go to your replicator and TELL it what dish you want, out of 5,000 dishes from every part of the world stored in its memory.

And it produces the dish instantaneously.

And guess what. You won't even need to pay for the replicators.

They will be built into every house, as part of your fundamental human rights.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/KZBhdURv_JU/hq720.jpg

This is where the world is headed.

And AI (ChatGPT) is telling you this on this thread.

DeLaRue:
What should we do.

Dangote refinery can't sell to us below what it costs it to produce the petrol.

NNPC claims they are owing over $6 billion due in part to subsidy payments. Yet you want them to continue to pay subsidy so petrol price can be low.

If the country can no longer afford to pay subsidy, we need to face the reality that with the exception of the Arab nations, petrol is an expensive product in almost every country in the world.

In Niger Republic, Ghana and many other neighbouring countries, petrol sells for around N1300.

It is unrealistic to think petrol cam continue to sell for N600 here.

If we have to pay between N850 - N900 for Mr Dangote's petrol, we just have to manage it.
Anything lower than that and people will start smuggling it out again, and then back to scarcity and fuel queues, as we subsidize the entire West Africa. undecided

I was around just when Shoprite wanted to come to Nigeria with all these shopping malls.

Majority of people ON THIS FORUM were telling them it was a waste of money, because the average Nigerian lived on ''less than a dollar a day'' and only rich politicians would be able to afford to shop in such places.

Today, what is the story?

Even villages now are getting Shoprite.

Demand is so high.

So I've learnt to ignore Nigerians.

FG, Research Centre Partner to Deploy Nuclear Reactor for Power Generation

May 3, 2024

https://www.thecable.ng/fg-research-centre-partner-to-deploy-nuclear-reactor-for-power-generation/

In partnership with the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) says there are plans to deploy a nuclear reactor for power generation.

Yusuf-Aminu Ahmed, chairman of NAEC, spoke on Thursday at the 20th anniversary symposium of Nigeria’s first nuclear research reactor-1 (NNR-1) in Zaria.

Ahmed said Nigeria’s accumulated expertise in nuclear power positions the country well for advancing to the next stage of power generation using the technology.

“We have used the reactor for research and development over the years and now we are going to use the reactor for the purpose of generating electricity,” the chairman said.

“President Bola Tinubu has already given the commission a mandate to see how it contributes in the clean energy sphere of Nigeria and [how] the nuclear energy programme of Nigeria would participate.”

He said the project’s timeline would not be publicly disclosed, adding that international partners and vendors are working closely with the commission on the initiative.

Ahmed said intergovernmental agreements have been concluded with some vendors regarding nuclear power in Nigeria, noting that the president would make the announcement soon.

In his remarks, George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation, said the 20-year safe operation of the nuclear research reactor demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to the safe utilisation of nuclear energy.

Akume said the procedures involved in operating a nuclear research reactor are similar to those required for establishing a reactor that would produce electricity.

“President Tinubu has re-echoed the need for having nuclear energy into the sources of electric power generation in Nigeria and Nigerians should look forward to this power,” he said.

“Electricity generated through nuclear energy is clean and safe except for human errors or natural causes such as the one that happened in Hiroshima.”

Also speaking, Sunday Jonah, director of CERT, said the occasion was held to commemorate two decades of safely operating, maintaining, and utilising the first nuclear research reactor known as NNR-1.

Anyone reading this will think that she meant nuclear reactor power plants not knowing that it is one small wooden box kept in one corner of a physics laboratory in ABU named NIRR-1. It is what was left after a joint research project with China Institute of Atomic Research and in 2018, after they finished the research studies, China took away all the critical elements of the research, leaving only near empty boxes and irrelvelant components. The Nigerian government, in their characteristic stupidity, set up a whole agency/parastatsl full of people who collect salaries(same as the Nigerian space and satellite Agency in Abuja) doing nothing other than look after empty wooden crates or boxes that China had taken the main components away since Dec 2018.

I'm sure the buffon either works there or has someone who just sits idle there collecting salaries on behalf of the policticians and she is so daft to publicly exhibit her lack of intelligence on what she knew very little about thinking everyone on nairaland is a dimwit like them or in their circle. What a stupid thing to say to justify your disgusting racial complex.

This is about the importance of the Dangote refinery.

We are clearly not celebrating the mere fact that it's a refinery, since Nigeria has had refineries since before you were born.

We are acknowledging the SCALE of the facility, and the capacity for it to lead to further industrialisation.

For instance, our self-sufficiency in petrochemicals opens up opportunities for local entrepreneurs and manufacturers to establish businesses in that sector, and buy their raw materials cheap in naira instead of dollars, leading to a stronger naira, more employment opportunities etc etc.

Dangote Refinery can meet 100% of the Nigerian demand for all liquid products (Gasoline, Diesel, Kerosene & Aviation fuel) and have surplus of each of these refined products for export.

THAT IS HUGE.

Just from the business angle alone, and how it opens up multiple opportunities for local businesses, it's amazing.

THIS DANGOTE REFINERY OFFICIALLY MAKES NIGERIAN AN INDUSTRIALISED COUNTRY.

Nigeria is now self-sufficient in, and is the largest manufacturer and exporter of refined petroleum products and petrochemicals in the African continent of 1.4 billion people.

All fuels needed by African countries at a cheaper price, from diesel to aviation fuel, is available and deliverable from the Dangote Refinery, Lagos.

This is HUGE.

Every single one of the 54 African countries would LOVE to be in this position we are in.

According to Wiki,

''The Dangote refinery is the seventh-largest oil refinery in the world. In 2019, the world's largest crude distillation column, weighing 2,350 tonnes, was installed in place at the Dangote refinery by a specialist Dutch company. With a height of 112 metres it is slightly taller than the Saturn V rocket which brought the first man to the moon (110.6m) and 16 metres taller than Big Ben.

In the same year, three more records were set when the world's heaviest refinery regenerator was installed - having already been the "heaviest item ever to be transported over a public road in Africa" at a stately 3,000 tonnes and also being "the heaviest single piece of steel structure" in the world.
