PoliticsRe: Who’s Really Damaging Nigeria’s Image—critics Or Corrupt Politicians? by Rossikk(m): 2:05am On Apr 30, 2025
CreativeOrbit:
When people accuse others of 'demarketing' Nigeria, shouldn't we also consider how the criminal actions of certain politicians harm the country's reputation?

Corruption, fraud, and misconduct by public figures don't just undermine trust in governance—they actively damage Nigeria's image on the global stage.

If we're concerned about negative perceptions of the nation, shouldn’t we first address the root causes, including the unethical behavior of those in power?
Are the 0.001% of Nigerians you call politicians, ''Nigeria''?

Why should whatever you think of them DEFINE ''Nigeria'' in your head?

The rest of the world doesn't know ''Nigerian politicians''.

They know ordinary Nigerians like you that go on twitter to demean your country.

Now you know why their prayers get answered and yours don't.

They pray to the original and gave you a fake oyinbo man to worship.

It was at the height of the slave trade in the 1700s that these images began to be whitewashed.

The Europeans couldn't rationalise the brutalisation of the people they had literally once worshiped as Gods - Africans.

So the solution was to whitewash the images and claim Jesus and the apostles and Hebrews were all white people.

Sadly many still believe the grand lie today.

But the truth is slowly revealing itself..

Angels, apostles, disciples, also looked similar. These paintings are found in the oldest churches across Europe, from France to Russia, and from Italy to Spain.

[quote author=TouchNfollow post=135175303] Ugandan “leader”?

What kind of leader?

You think you just wake up and build a hospital?

Do you know if they have the doctors and required nursing staff in the area, or can afford equipment for a big hospital that can treat major illnesses like cancer?

It’s not something you just wake up and do because you think you have money.

You will just build an empty, deserted place if you are not careful.

Very simplistic reasoning by OP.

…………….

Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, his administration has embarked on a series of reforms and initiatives aimed at revitalizing Nigeria's economy, enhancing infrastructure, and improving social welfare.

Here's an overview of notable achievements up to April 2025:

Economic and Fiscal Reforms

Fuel Subsidy Removal: Eliminated longstanding fuel subsidies, leading to a 50% reduction in petrol imports and increased monthly allocations for states and local governments.

Exchange Rate Unification: Floated the Nigerian naira to unify multiple exchange rates, boosting investor confidence.

Revenue Growth: Government revenues more than doubled, reaching over ₦9.1 trillion in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

Debt Service Reduction: Reduced the percentage of revenue spent on debt service from 97% to 68% over the same period.

Foreign Exchange Reserves: Increased from $35.14 billion in May 2023 to $42.05 billion by April 2025.

Balance of Payments Surplus: Achieved a $6.83 billion surplus in 2024, marking a significant turnaround from previous deficits.

Infrastructure and Energy Development

Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway: Initiated construction of a 700 km highway to enhance connectivity between western and southeastern Nigeria.

Power Sector Reforms: Advanced the Presidential Power Initiative in collaboration with Siemens to improve electricity distribution.

Renewable Energy Expansion: Signed agreements to generate an additional 2,000 MW of power from renewable sources by 2025.

Gas Infrastructure: Secured a $1.2 billion deal with China's CNCEC to revamp a key gas processing plant, aiming to boost aluminum production and energy supply.

Social Welfare and Human Capital
Cash Transfer Program: Launched a ₦25,000 monthly cash transfer to 15 million of Nigeria’s poorest households to alleviate poverty.

Minimum Wage Increase: Raised the national minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000 to improve living standards.

Student Loan Act: Signed into law to provide financial assistance to students in tertiary institutions.

Support for Small Businesses: Disbursed ₦50 billion in conditional grants to 1 million nano-businesses and established a ₦75 billion fund to support manufacturing enterprises.

Foreign Investment and Trade

World Bank Loan: Secured a $2.25 billion loan to support economic reforms and social programs.

Exxon-Seplat Deal: Facilitated the imminent approval of a $1.28 billion deal between Exxon Mobil and Seplat Energy, signaling a commitment to attracting foreign investment.

Trade Surplus: Achieved a $13.17 billion goods trade surplus in 2024, with significant increases in gas and non-oil exports.

Security and Governance

Security Reforms: Increased defense spending and appointed new security leadership to address ongoing challenges, particularly in northern Nigeria.

Anti-Corruption Measures: Implemented policies aimed at reducing corruption and improving transparency in government operations.

While these initiatives have led to measurable progress in various sectors, the administration continues to face challenges, including inflation, currency devaluation, and security concerns.

Nonetheless, the Tinubu administration remains committed to implementing reforms aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life of Nigerians.

Cool, but you don’t need to learn AI technology to make money from AI.

Just using ChatGPT alone can work wonders for whatever business you are engaged in right now, or thinking of getting into.

The other day I told ChatGPT that I was in one remote village in Nigeria, which I named, and needed some business ideas to start with little or no money.

I was stunned by the results. Utterly stunned.

These days I hardly do anything without ChatGPT.

Thats why I stopped blaming yahoo boys, they didn't pay fair price for those resources and in most cases stole them outrightly
That’s how the universe operates, which is something Europeans - newcomers to civilisation - fail to realise.

You cannot destroy the entire world to enrich yourself and expect no recompense from spiritual forces.

From the Divinity.

The universe will show you.

It’s simply a question of when.

Bro, you just described Nigeria.
How?

Nigeria’s annual budget is only $35 billion for 250 million people.

UK, France, Germany, Russia etc, each have annual budgets exceeding 1 trillion dollars.

America 8 trillion dollars.

Yet despite this huge wealth, whites continue to wage war against themselves.

Building monstrous weapons to fight themselves, including nuclear weapons.

Africans, considering the artificial nature of their countries, should be commended for their expertise in conflict resolution under great financial strain.

Europeans couldn’t do it. They have huge wealth and can’t have peace.

What would they do if they had nothing?

They would return to their natural savage state.
Foreign AffairsRe: Spain And Portugal Suffer Power Outages, Trains And Flights Halted by Rossikk(m): 2:27pm On Apr 28, 2025
PresidObi:
Doesn't this sound familiar? grin

The inability of Nigerians to live peacefully among themselves, despite all the wealth garnered from looting and plundering Niger Delta's resources, will lead to their downfall.
But Nigeria hasn’t descended into war like Europeans always do. In WW1 and 2 they slaughtered over 100 million of themselves in total.

Even today they have nuclear missiles pointing at each other, ready to destroy themselves at any moment.

The Russian-Ukraine war is so bloody and vicious, it’s incredible. Supposedly civilised people.

The only reason the Europeans have some level of peace today is that wealth they plundered from the rest of the world, especially Africa.

Without that, they would have scattered their continent with war long ago.

Maybe I do so because the worst of Peter Obi as an administrator, is far better than the best of one inebriated Pablo Escobar Tilimgbu! You gerrit now? Obi is far better than a drug selling, snatch and run elections rigger like your man! That could be the reason I do push for Obi sometimes here..

Moreover I come from a place where we don't pay obeisance to fellow men. And you know this! That I support Obi does not mean that if he gets something wrong I won't say that. You can also go through my recent posts to see where I have disagreed with him on sundry issues. That's the way we roll.., when he is right, we praise him. When he starts to fumble, we become his highest critics..

We are unlike you agbadorians..., you miserable cultural wrecks. You are like the proverbial serfs to your Obas and Emirs and Jagabans and Sai babas. You are always looking for a fellow man to worship and when you finally find one as was the case with Buhari and now with Tinubu, whether he is right or wrong on any political/administrative issues, you are right behind him with full support like a clan of headless chickens! And the society suffers..

That is the behaviour expected from the inebriated products of moribund cultures. Folks raised under an egalitarian culture where leaders are constantly questioned and set to the fire to perdorm, behave differently, hence....
Stop getting frustrated with me for not being like you. You are the one who chose to turn men into tin gods not me!
Funnily enough, the only two projects Obi is known to have commissioned are this borehole and the brewery.

It’s as if he only likes to commission things that start with ‘b’.

They will start praising bat for even managing to provide 1 hour power supply per day and justifying the darkness in Nigeria.

They are coming. grin
But they ought not to have power cuts in so-called advanced countries, not to mention 2 at the same time.

They are probably experiencing gas shortages to their power plants due to policies to do with Russia, Ukraine etc.

The inability of Europeans to live peacefully among themselves, despite all the wealth garnered from looting and plundering the world’s resources, will lead to their downfall.

That's true.

But Ogun State is evidence that Nigeria could even have the third largest GDP in the world due to massive industrialization and export and 70% of Nigeria would still be slum. Or how can you explain that Ogun is the most industrialized state in Nigeria, but the capital city is an eyesore due to lack of city planning?? You'll see open gutters, mud/brown-roof houses mixed up with skyscrapers.

If the capital can be that bad imagine what the remaining parts of the state would look like. Nigeria, we need to do better!

PS: I did my youth service in the state.
It will take time to translate to physical development. Ogun has only been doing this industrialisation thing for a decade or less.
