Indeed. Atiku wants to be President. Think what could have being if he had concieved this obvious and simple to discern policy while VP?

Where would Nigeria be today? See rossipki, all past President since 1999, knew what was best for Nigeria and were aware of reforms that must be bullied through uncompromisingly to get us moving towards becoming a developed nation.

They avoided those reforms and policy initiatives because kickback making them rich, like our fuel subsidy glorified grand theft that was impoverishing Nigerians thtough weaponized poverty, was too sweet to relinquish.

Same with the mining sector. Give out licences to cronies and buddies who then grant the Chinese and others access to mine or buy minerals all to be exported abroad with Nigeria losing out in the mining to finished/processed goods value chain.

Second slavery bro and I don't know how we, as men with blocos or cojones, aren't ashamed other men are doing this to us.

A President comes along who insist those interested in our mineral must mine and complete the processing of finished good you, a foreign investor, wish to sell to the entire world in factories to be based in Nigeria.

Yet we are arguing over this on a thread on Nairaland when every Nigerian should be in unison praising this development.

My bro, bar a few, the majority of black Africans have inferiority complex and do not believe their fate is in their own hands.

Put it to a referendum and most black Africans would vote oyinbo should come back and colonise/lead us whereas what we need is for more of our leaders to be like Tinubu, Kagame etal
One would understand if the colonialists actually reinvested export proceeds and BUILT up those countries, which they didn't, save for South Africa, since their people settled there en masse.

And true to type, they imposed Apartheid.

I don't see the reason why in Politics, people tend to overlook the truth to follow what suits them...

If Peter Obi says he won the election without any evidence, he is not saying he had no evidence, no , but he is saying that in the court, the judge or whoever ruled against him not winning and upheld Tinibu's winning, has already made it that he had no evidence by his judgement....

Someone can be innocent of a crime but due to no evidence which can propel the Judge to grant him bail and free, he will be jailed ...

So, I don't see the lie or anything associated with Peter Obi that shows he lied but in Politics we all know anything can form or deform a purpose...

There is no $700 billion mineral deal btw USA and Nigeria. If there is ,tell us the details of the deal. Will the US be investing $700 billion in Nigeria? No. There is no US factory in Nigeria that is worth even one billion dollars. Bola only gave unfettered mining access to the US on our mineral resources that is worth $700 billion in order to get some reprieve. That's the demerits of having someone with a lot of baggage at the helm of affairs.
Stop spreading misinformation on this forum.

Unbiased AI report:

In late September 2026, President Bola Tinubu’s administration signed a landmark mineral cooperation framework agreement with the United States.

A major point of confusion in public discussions is the money involved: the U.S. has not given or invested $700 billion in Nigeria, nor has Nigeria handed over $700 billion worth of resources.

Rather, $700 billion is the Nigerian government's official estimate of the total value of the country’s untapped solid mineral resources.

The agreement itself is a legal and economic framework designed to open the doors for American companies to invest in exploring, mining, and processing those resources.

Key Facts of the Deal

The pact was officially signed on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York by Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State.

• Targeted Resources: The framework focuses heavily on critical energy transition minerals and precious resources, including lithium, cobalt, gold, tin, iron ore, and phosphate.

• Local Processing Focus: A core pillar of the agreement is moving away from just exporting raw materials. The framework mandates a focus on refining and processing minerals locally within Nigeria to build
domestic value chains.

• Geopolitical Drivers: For the United States, the deal helps secure a supply chain for critical battery and renewable technologies while diversifying away from supply chains heavily dominated by China.

• Economic Objectives: For Nigeria, the goal is to attract private American capital to create local jobs, upgrade mining infrastructure, and diversify the national economy away from its rigid dependence on crude oil.

Public Controversy and Skepticism

While President Tinubu has hailed the deal as a massive win for economic diversification, it has also sparked significant pushback and debate online and among labor groups:

• Resource Sovereignty Fears: Many citizens initially misconstrued the announcement, leading to viral emotional reactions online from critics who feared Nigeria was "selling off" its wealth cheaply to foreign powers.

• Labor & Trade Union Alarms: Organizations like the ITUC-Africa have raised alarms over the deal, questioning the lack of broad public and legislative consultation before it was signed.

• The "Raw Material" Trap: Critics remain skeptical about whether western multinational corporations will genuinely invest in high-tech local processing factories, or if the arrangement will ultimately benefit foreign manufacturing hubs more than the Nigerian populace.

Because this is a strategic framework agreement, no specific project timelines or immediate multi-billion dollar cash flows have been locked in yet.

Its ultimate success depends on how many private U.S. mining companies actually commit to launching operations under these new terms.

- Translation: If the Americans invest in local processing facilities, we deal. If they don't, no deal.

Thank you for that.
Mineral resources are under the purview of Tinubu as the President and his policies can make or mar whatever happens around mineral resources.
Without the FG policies, that Lithium factory will never see the light of day.
Remember when Obasanjo stopped Tinubu in making Lagos enjoy 24/7 electricity during his tenure.
That was because electricity then was exclusive to the FG just like mineral resources are still exclusive to the FG.
Just celebrate that Tinubu has started a positive revolution in the mineral resources sector and he just facilitated the building of a lithium factory in Nigeria.
Also remember the $700 billion mineral resources deal btw USA and Nigeria.
There is no gainsaying the fact that President Tinubu is the only President that is deliberate in diversifying the economy of Nigeria and the fruits are already getting ripe.
Do you know the Tinubu government is the first in Nigerian history to conduct a scientific geo-mapping of the mineral resources of the country?

Without that geo-mapping, tracing the location, quantity, and quality of all mineral deposits, without that, you can forget about attracting serious investment in your minerals sector to harness those resources.

Tinubu does things that many people don't even know he's doing....the man is about action, not speeches.

ALL THOSE THINGS COST MONEY!!!

We don't earn enough from that oil to provide all those things to every Nigerian, even with zero corruption.

Our budget is around $50 billion a year for 250 million people

USA, with a similar population of 320 million, has a budget of $8 trillion.

WHY?

Because they have very large numbers of manufacturing and financial companies from all over the world there, paying corporate taxes that run into trillions of dollars a year into government coffers.

So to build up your wealth as a country, you need INDUSTRIES... MANY!!!

From all over the world!!!

They employ the masses with good jobs, and pay corporate taxes to government.

The US produces more oil than Nigeria. Do you see them even talking about it?

Nope. Their economy is sufficiently diversified that the oil income is just a tiny part of it.

That's where Nigeria is headed under Tinubu - Economic Diversification at Scale.

No matter what you think, things are cheaper in the North than in the South. It is this skewed mentality of thinking Southerners are better off than the North that makes many of you cut your noses to spite your faces. The South didn't vote Tinubu. He lost the entire South including Lagos and Osun. Northerners made him president and he has no pathway to re-election without Northern votes. The APC was throwing bread at the people from moving vehicles in the last election in Ekiti and Osun. Tinubu can keep getting at the North that made him.

Not a single government kobo was contributed to that plant. That firm is 100% owned by the Chinese. The factory has been operating for several months now.

OP, we know your master has no achievements and you have to steal but try and be less obvious about it.
This is absolute nonsense!

Of course it was built by private firms!!

Must Tinubu use government money to build battery plants?

Are we Communist Russia?

We're a capitalist economy! The private sector is what will industrialize this country, not government, whose primary role is policy development and regulatory oversight.

None of this could have happened without Tinubu’s economic reform agenda and Nigeria First policies.

This report is straight from AI:

...........

President Bola Tinubu was officially involved in the Nasarawa lithium plant through regulatory policy backing and as the head of the commissioning authority.

Key Areas of Involvement

• The Commissioning Authority: President Tinubu officially inaugurated the facility via the nation's leader, Vice President Kashim Shettima.

• Value-Addition Policy Framework:

According to Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dr. Dele Alake, the mega-facility is a direct realization of the federal policy framework under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which restricts mining licenses and bars the export of raw, unprocessed solid minerals.

• Direct Investor Engagement:

President Tinubu met directly with Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule and visiting executives from Chinese mining and battery firms in Abuja to champion Nigeria's goal of becoming an electric vehicle battery and solar panel manufacturing hub.

The lithium plant provides significant economic, industrial, and strategic advantages to Nigeria.

For decades, the nation followed an extractive model—shipping raw resources out and letting foreign entities retain the profits. This plant fundamentally shifts that dynamic.

1. Massive Revenue Retention & Value Addition

• Higher Export Prices: Refining lithium ore into a high-value concentrate locally means Nigeria exports a premium product rather than raw dirt, drastically increasing the value of its mineral exports.

• State Revenue Growth: Nasarawa State is on track to earn up to $100 million in direct lithium revenue by the end of the year. The state government is actively utilizing these funds to construct critical regional infrastructure, such as the Agwada-Udege and Nasarawa-Ara roads.

2. Job Creation and Skill Building

• Immediate Employment: The plant has already generated 1,000+ direct jobs and 2,000+ indirect jobs in transportation, logistics, and supply chains for local Nigerians.

• Technology Transfer: Working alongside top-tier global operators like Jiuling and Canmax provides Nigerian engineers and technicians with direct hands-on experience in advanced chemical processing and green energy technology.

3. Concrete Execution of the "Resource Nationalism" Policy

• Enforcing the Raw Export Ban: The plant serves as the ultimate proof-of-concept for Nigeria’s strict policy requiring a minimum of 30% local value addition before any solid minerals can leave the country.

• Attracting Serious Investors: Showing that a mega-facility can successfully operate in the Endo community signals to global mining companies that Nigeria is a stable, capable destination for large-scale industrial investments.

4. Direct Entry into the Clean Energy Supply Chain

• Global Strategic Positioning: The UN recently selected Nigeria as one of the first countries to receive targeted country-level support for critical energy transition minerals.

• The Blueprint for Battery Manufacturing: Operating a local processing facility lays the groundwork for the ultimate goal: transitioning from raw mining to manufacturing lithium batteries, solar tech, and electric vehicle components directly within the country.

The fuel subsidy is hurting the north more than the south, due to generally lower incomes up north.

Tinubu sees the subsidy removal as painful temporarily, but highly critical for taking this economy to the next level at a faster pace.

The north prefer the slower-paced growth with assured basic incomes fuel subsidies guarantee.

Obi, from his recent utterances, will clearly capitulate to northern interests if elected.

And that would be such a waste of a southern presidency... undecided
