Oga op, this above cannot be regarded as a scam because it is a common phenomenon this days that people, especially the ladies like to trend, what this business minded fellow did was to catch into the opportunity and cash out financially, it is called "IMPROVISING "
That you are not aware of the trend doesn't make it a scam, besides he/she indicated that registration is free, the only charges comes from the individual voting for each contestants and which is normally charged from the voters airtime.
Unless you are telling that you won and was not paid your supposed winning, then I could agree with you that it is a scam, at which you can sue their ass for it and make a better money outa them
