Formal education is one of those things that have become a part of our culture. It is necessary and it is a prerequisite when applying for a job. Education to some extent, helps people get acquainted with and better experienced in the field which they are pursuing. It happens when a "union" creates a curriculum to educate people, most of the time it is the youth. Formal education has become very systematic and well planned. It is used to promote principles and values as well as knowledge, and this can sometimes lead to abuse of the system. Education has made the very core of our society it helps everybody who graduates and teaches them the basics in life, something for them to build on. Although education is an excellent thing, one of the problems is that people who graduate have formed a box... an envelope to think in. Myself as a computer technician, student pilot, & student of life, am always looking for ways to push the envelope. Education started very early for me. I never attended grade school and was through the O-Levels by my father. Soon after I enrolled in college and a year later had completed my diploma. I was 14. My dad has always told me that education never ends. And no matter what we do or which industry we work in, we will always need to adapt to the changes as they come, this means we need to learn quickly. This does not mean we go out and get another college degree, instead, it means that we must always have the ability to learn and not become close-minded. Many of you have heard of a story which goes along the lines of a guy working in a company for many many years and has climbed through the ranks and finally reached his goal, then some young guy comes along with the ability to make good changes, and suddenly the old guy finds himself being replaced. This does not necessary lt mean the old guy was not doing a good job, it just means there was another guy doing a better job. The goal here is to stay open-minded and willing to learn new techniques to stay ahead of the competition and to always learn. Now all of us are bound to phase out some time or another, the point is to be at the top of our job, as long as we are capable. My grandfather once told me that no matter what you lean or where you learn it from, the knowledge that will matter the most and make the most difference is the knowledge acquired by experience, because it sticks. |
Online blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as sports, news, music or a hobby. Most blogs online function more as personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on photos, audio podcasting, videos, or all combined together. Many realtors or real estate investors who have properties or businesses can use blogs to keep in touch with their readers or create a community of readers interested in their subject matter. The words "back to school" are a faint whisper in students' ears now, but in a few months, they will be a sharp screech like nails on a blackboard. For most students, the month of August is a time for preparation. Students from elementary through high school must decide which school supplies they will need in the new year. Buying these essential supplies is a task for anyone, so why not ease the pain on parents and their wallets? It is time for your educational institution to welcome in a new era of supplies for students, show appreciation to parents and create awareness on pressing issues through providing fresh, new products that promote going back to school in 2019. Although students are the ones who are actually going back to school, parents have a lot to plan for and must prepare for the new school year as well. Parents are just as stressed about the approaching school year as their kids. Parents may not attend class every day or take midterms, but they do shoulder some of the cost of tuition and school and living supplies. To calm parents and let them know you and your institution understand the stresses they are experiencing, give them memorable gifts at events like "Back to School Night" and new student orientation. These events are not the same boring traditional events where parents walk around the school and end up in the gymnasium to eat stale cookies and drink purple punch. These events are perfect times to reach out to parents with simple gifts. According to Alan Dessoff in the article "Action Teams" in PTO Today, replacing open houses with more informal functions like barbecues, picnics, and ice cream socials before the school year begins will help parents become better acquainted with their student's school and the school's layout. Another important cause to create awareness for is school violence. At times, school can be a scary place. Violence in schools is something that students have to deal with. To promote school safety and tolerance, hand out megaphones with the slogan, "Talk about your thoughts" or "Voice your opinion" with "Shout out to stop school violence" under the slogan. In the article "How Safe is Your School" in the magazine District Administration, Carol Patton writes about how to better promote school safety. When asked how to deal with school safety, Paul Houston, executive director of AASA, said that "Schools should be a place of some joy and of a sense of openness." Although these megaphones may not physically be able to protect students, the message on them can encourage students to talk about their differences rather than keep them inside. Let's face it. College can stink...literally. After a couple months attending class and having an erratic schedule, students' dorm rooms, their clothing and at times, the actual student can begin to go a bit bad. For times such as these, why not provide students a care package at the beginning of the school year with health and beauty products, breath mints, gum, other dental hygiene products, and hand sanitizers. Another item that could be added in this pack that would come in handy is flip-flops. It is common knowledge that NO students should brave a high school or junior high locker room or public shower without protection for their feet. Specialized flip-flops with your school's name and colors will allow all students to walk without worrying about foot safety. Through providing these products to your institution's students and parents, you are helping them start off the new school year on the right foot. https://openhomeworkhelp.online Helpful Links interviewing Schools Back To School: Helpful Supplies For Students In An Alcohol Treatment Center, You Are Bound To Find A Lot Of Other Folks 17602 Cases Of Alcohol Related Accidents Happen Every Year |
Google is planning on floating another $4 billion in shares. The question then becomes, with reserves of over $2 billion, what does the company want with the extra cash? This article provides my own speculation and insight and it might surprise you. Google. Currently trading at close to $300 per share. The company has an $83 billion market cap making it one of the most valuable companies in North America, almost double the value of Yahoo! And almost 4 times the value of General Motors. With this kind of valuation, what could Google have up its sleeve? After all, they are reported to have over $2 billion in cash reserves alone. You’d think with that kind of cash on hand they could do almost whatever they wanted. So why add an additional $4 billion to that pot? What could Google be after that's worth more than $6 billion? Well, I have some ideas. But before I go there, let’s look at some of the things Google is doing now. The company recently launched Google Talk – their own version of an IM program. They’ve also been looking into other areas of communication as well, such as hunting out dark fiber. That is fiber optic cabling that is unused. They’ve also been active in the areas of social networking and personalization. And we all know about Gmail, Froogle, and Google News. These are just some of the areas Google has been moving into. They are, as we in the industry call them, verticals. But that’s not all that Google is interested in. While they make sense, I think Google is just scratching the surface of their potential. In order to understand what I’m talking about we must first review Google’s mission statement: Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. So, how does Google go about making all the world’s information accessible and useful? Well, it’s a good start that they have a hyperactive crawler that not only indexes pages, but also images, audio and video files. In addition, Googlebot can index text files, Microsoft documents such as Word and Excel documents, PDF’s and more. I think they’ve pretty much covered the “organize” part of the mission statement. Sure there are more file types and sources out there, but Google finds more and more of them every day. Let’s skip to the last point - “useful”. I’ll save “accessible” till later. In order to make it useful, Google must present it in such a way that the user is exposed to as much of it as possible, yet it has to be relevant to the user. And they have been working on this for quite some time. Now you may notice you not only see the usual paid and organic results but in some cases, you see definitions, Froogle results and more. And more recently we are beginning to see other forms of vertical results show up in the “regular” organic results. These are results where Google is suggesting other potential matches to your query. All in all, I’d say Google has a pretty good handle on presenting useful results. Sure it can get better, and I think it will. In fact, Google MUST get better in order to stay ahead of the pack. So, I’ve covered the “organize” and “useful” now its time to talk about the “accessible” and this is where my speculation starts. Remember at the beginning of this article I said I wondered what Google needed $6 billion for? What I’m about to write here may surprise some, but not others. I think Google wants to move into the next generation of the web – the wireless web. And how they are going to do it is by buying a struggling wireless provider. The wireless provider I’m thinking of is T-Mobile. Just let that sink in for a moment. T-Mobile is the company that uses Catherine Zeta-Jones in their TV commercials. Why T-Mobile? Well, for one, the parent company, Deutsche Telekom is not satisfied with how the company is doing in the US. They have even hinted that they may sell the company. Google recently signed a deal with T-Mobile to provide web services for the company. Google also recently purchased a company called Android, which makes wireless phone software and who’s founder also developed a device called Hiptop which is sold by T-Mobile. Coincidence? I think not And a quick evaluation of Deutsche Telekom indicates that the US subsidiary (T-Mobile) is indeed worth about $6 billion. It has been common knowledge in the past few months that Google is investing heavily in wireless technologies. Android is just the latest in a string of purchases centered on wireless and the emerging possibilities it holds. Even if Google doesn’t buy T-Mobile, they will still be in a position to offer a hybrid wireless/broadband communications system capable of allowing transitions between wired/wireless technologies. Combining wireless/wi-fi technology into a fiber optic network makes perfect sense for Google. Imagine having a Google cell phone for which the monthly fees are minimal and having the phone be smart enough to switch to a local wi-fi hotspot with fiber connection allowing for national and international calls at a fraction of the cost. Google would crush the competition. And like I said, the infrastructure for this is either in place (in other words, Google already owns the technology) or will be shortly (in that they are developing and/or purchasing it). Really, the whole delivery of results is the only place Google is lacking. Without an internet connection and computer, you can’t access Google. Therefore Google wants to put Google in the palm of your hand. And what better way to do that than offer a cheap/free cell phone with international calling capabilities? And all you have to put up with is some unobtrusive advertising. And think of that – what would an advertiser pay to have a captive audience? No longer would the advertiser have to pay for broad keyword matched advertising. Through geo-targeting and demographic profiling, the advertiser would be able to target his ads at the right age group in the right location, carrying a Google cell phone. Really, I’d put up with a few ads for a free phone with virtually unlimited long distance. I can tune out TV ads now, and I all but ignore PPC ads, so I’m sure I can ignore the cell phone when it beeps indicating a new ad. Now I’ll grant that this is extremely speculative. Perhaps T-Mobile isn’t the target, but I’m pretty confident that someone in the market is. In any case, if you have other ideas, or would like to share your speculation, please leave a comment. https://gadgetsnew.tech/es/ |
One day when I had nothing to do (well, actually, I had a lot to do, but I didn't want to do any of it), I decided to play the Google game. This is the one where you input your own name or something else into the field in quotes to see how many search results you get. Because my most recent book, Queen Geeks in Love, was coming out soon, I decided to search the term "geek." What I found astounded me. I got more nearly 70 million hits from the word "geek." That's million. So, I figured that most every term would fetch that many results, or close to it. I started with what I would assume is the antithesis of 'geek': the "gossip girl', which yielded 3,560,000. 'Beauty Queen" yielded 1,750.000. Glamour came the closest to geek, with 44,600,000, but as you can plainly see, being glamorous is nothing compared to being geeky, statistically. Even the trendy "fashionista" only turned back 5,590,000 results. So what does this mean? Is Google a valid measurement of popular culture? I suppose it's not extremely scientific, but it does seem to be in indication of how many sites mention the word, which, by the way, originated as a circus term for a person who bit the heads off live animals. Thankfully, that particular aspect of geekdom seems to have faded out, unless you count Ozzy Osbourne in his former glory days. If you look to the true measure of what's out there in the zeitgeist, check your local television listings. This fall, every new show seems to be supernatural (which is within the realm of the geek.) We have Moonlight, a vampire tale. We have Journeyman, Supernatural, Ghost Whisperer, and Medium. The biggies—Lost and Heroes—sell DVD collections in droves. Geeks are no longer hiding in their cyberclosets. As early as 2001, the term "geek chic" began to be used, and in fact, a London clothing company ran a campaign using that very term to market its clothing. Fast forward to last year, when ABC premiered a show called Ugly Betty, with America Ferrera starring as an anti-fashion uber-geek. Well, guess who was on the October 2007 cover of Glamour Magazine? That's right. The geeky girl. Of course, they glammed her up, but still, I couldn't help but feel that someone from my team finally made it to the big leagues. Gloria Baume, a fan of Ugly Betty and a fashion editor at Teen Vogue, told the New York Times that Betty's "geek-chic look could trickle down." In the New York Times article, she added, ''I'm obsessed with the nerd look right now,'' adding that a number of designers appear to be similarly taken with all things dorky. ''Paul Smith did it in London,'' she said. ''Lacoste did it here in New York. Luella also did the geek look. In her own kind of funny, twisted way, Betty has her own sense of style. It's kooky, but it's totally her.'' (New York Times, October 2006). USA Today even noted that "Knowledge is power and geek is chic. If you're a cyber whiz who is plugged into the pop-culture world of sci-fi, fantasy, comic books and cult horror, maybe even the master of a Web shrine devoted to such once-arcane matters, you don't just rule. You rock." Scholars are even on the geek bandwagon. One Danish scholar wrote a dissertation on geek culture and cited it as "the third counterculture" after hippies and yuppies. "The geek culture is changing the norm, transforming mainstream culture," writes Lars Konzack in his thesis, titled "Geek culture, the third counterculture" " Not long ago nobody would have known outside the geek culture what was meant by player character, experience points, level gain, and hit points. Now it seems like everybody knows. The geek culture is transforming mainstream cultures and it's just the beginning of a general cultural change in that direction," Lars Konzack, Aalborg University, Denmark. In my own novels, Queen Geek Social Club and Queen Geeks in Love, the self-professed geeks of the title are girls who unapologetically are themselves. They like science and science fiction, but they also like fashion and guys. They want to change the world, but they also want to enjoy it. I like to think of them as the geek I never was in high school—confident, comfortable, clever. They know who they are, and although they struggle with self-doubt and anxiety like all teenagers, they use their intelligence and the support of their geek sisters to get through it all. In the end, it's a great message to send to girls (or guys), and it reminds me of something someone once wrote in the margin of my yearbook: "be the way you are and you'll go far." Go geeks. https://gadgetsnew.tech/es/ |
You are an adult. And when adults make big decisions in life, they have good reasons. And deciding whether to send your child to a private school and which private school to pick is a big decision. So the logical and organized way to go about finding out whether the move is a good one and what private school to pick, the adult thing to do is make a list of things you require of a private school and turn that list into your “interview questions” that you will use when you go from school to school looking for the perfect place for your child. One way to get your list of questions developed is to list what is making you turn away from public school. After all, public school is, at least in theory, free so to turn from a free educational resource to one you have to pay for, you need good reasons. Some of the most common reasons people consider private over public schools include... § Quality of education. § College preparation. § Accommodation for children with special needs. § Accommodation for children with exceptional talents. § School violence or drugs. § Public school overemphasis on moral and ethical teaching. § Public school sex education programs. § School security to prevent mass shootings like happened at Columbine. There are other reasons to consider private school in addition to our short list. The problem is that public school does not have the leverage nor are they interested in making any changes if you do have issues with the school. Parents and students are expected to pretty much just put up with the way it is. And that drives lots of parents to look elsewhere for educational options. The next level of focus after the areas of improvement you want from public school pertain to any specific needs you need for your child or your family that would narrow down your search for a good private school. If one of the big goals is to find a private school where your child can continue to grow in your faith, then you will only look at schools that focus on that niche. You may have a child who is developmentally or physically challenged. There are some outstanding schools that can help with that need far better than public school. Or you may have a child who is exceptional in some particular area such as the performing arts, academics or science. Magnet schools or schools designed to give your child the additional help to move ahead more quickly in their field of specialization are an outstanding choice for you. In all cases, you will want to interview the school as to how the school day takes place, what makes the lifestyle your child will experience at their school superior to public school and how they handle basics like nutrition, medical needs and security. These interview questions go beyond just asking the administration questions and will call for you to take a tour and interview different support departments in the school. Finally, don’t overlook letting your child add some questions to the check list. After all, this school will be your child’s home away from home. She may want to know how often the school has dances or field trips to break up the classroom setting. She may need to understand lunch hour or how the library works. Include in your interview a complete tour of the school which might include sitting in on some classes that your child would become a part of to watch the teachers in action. You can tell a lot about the level of affection between teachers and students watching them teach and then observing them in the halls as they interact with the kids. And if the teachers like the kids, you know they are happy teaching there and they are doing a good job. Moreover, a warm relationship between the staff and the student body reflects that the administration of the school has designed everything from the school layout to the curriculum to how discipline is handled to work with the students and to work for their ultimate good rather than treating them like enemies as happens too often in public school. So use all of your senses when evaluating a new school so you come home with a good idea if this is the perfect next step in your child’s academic career. https://openhomeworkhelp.online See also interviewing Schools Back To School: Helpful Supplies For Students In An Alcohol Treatment Center, You Are Bound To Find A Lot Of Other Folks 17602 Cases Of Alcohol Related Accidents Happen Every Year |
