Family / Re: What Do We Expect A 40 Year Old Man To Have Achieved In Nigeria? by RuddyFusion(m): 10:40am On Aug 13, 2023
Nice2023:
I just clocked 40 year old and I feel as if I have not done well for myself. May be because I had always set a standard, hence my high taste and expectations.

Now goes the question,as a Nigerian, what achievement do one expects from a 40years old man irrespective of his education?

His today should be consistently better than his yesterday ..

Peace of mind...

Purposeful living

Health / World Ivf-embryologist Day 2023 by RuddyFusion(m): 8:30am On Jul 25, 2023
July 25th marks World IVF Day, also known as World Embryologist Day, commemorating the birth of the first test tube baby, Louise Brown, in 1978 through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) in Oldham, northwest England. This revolutionary technique has brought hope and joy to millions of couples worldwide, resulting in over 8 million babies born through IVF.

World IVF Day serves as a reminder of the groundbreaking advancements in fertility treatments, offering hope to those yearning for parenthood. It raises awareness about infertility challenges, encourages open conversations, and reduces the stigma around seeking fertility assistance.

Before IVF, couples faced limited options in overcoming infertility struggles. In 1978, Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe achieved a historic milestone by successfully helping a woman give birth to the world’s first test tube baby. Till date, IVF remains one of the most effective and widely used assisted reproductive technologies.

What is IVF

In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is one of several techniques available to help people with fertility problems have a baby. During IVF, an egg is removed from the woman’s ovaries and fertilised with sperm in a laboratory. The fertilised egg, called an embryo, is then returned to the woman’s womb to grow and develop.

Who is an Embryologist?

Embryologists are highly trained medical professionals responsible for managing genetic materials (sperm and eggs) as they develop into embryos. They ensure that the embryology laboratory provides an ideal environment for embryo growth and storage. Embryologists play a vital role in your child’s first stages during your fertility journey.

World Embryologist Day History and Milestone Achievements

1978: The first baby ever born through IVF. Louise Brown was born in Oldham, United Kingdom, on July 25th, 1978, due to the collaborative work of Sir Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe. Edwards received a Nobel Prize in 2010 for the development of IVF.
1981: First IVF baby born in the United States. Elizabeth Carr was born on December 28th, 1981, in Norfolk, Virginia, credited to the work of doctors Howard and Georgeanna Jones.
1983: First baby born using egg donation, achieved by the Monash IVF team in Australia. The first pregnancy established using a donor embryo was also achieved in 1983.

Penguin2:
I think it’s just a policy.

Seems the management decided that new posts should start moving to front page as from 8am rather than the previous 4am, 5am, 6am, in the past.

Or maybe the crop of MODs in charge now are less passionate about the job and treat Nairaland moderation as a job they resume at 8am unlike when Lalasticlala was here who doesn’t mind staying awake till 3am and waking up at 6am to move posts to FP.

In my experience managing staffs, there’s nothing as bad as having employees who cannot move an inch beyond their job description. Their employment contract says they will be closing work at 4pm, a minute after 4pm there are already at the gate no matter the loads of work left in the office.

Seun needs to recruit moderators who will treat Nairaland like a passion rather than a job they are employed to do.

You made a lot of point but the part that expects employees to stay beyond their contracted time just because they're loads of work left who takes care of it?

Most Nigerian employers expect their workers to work round the clock and yet cannot work out proper compensation for same.

I work in a place when you're 1 minutes late from official closing time you're likely to be deducted but nothing is added to you when you stay back long hours putting in the work after your closing time.

So take all the little details in before applying and attending the next interview.....

I agree with the OP to an extent and I have seen some of those ....

Once they start asking you deep questions requiring you to outline this and that process, then it is.....

Some of them I will manage and give them at the surface answer, but they will still come back and ask you to provide more details.

You have not employed someone, it's not certain that you would and you want him or her to prepare detailed documents that you will later use to solve you business problems without employing the candidate

etrange:

Lol... you make look like doing what serves human and having a career are mutually exclusive. Career is just an English for the dedication you give to a specific thing that serves human. It's not even about education. It's about dedication to a domain. Just like some people are passionate about football, some people have spent their lives advancing in a specific domain, sharpening thier skills, contributing to the domain and making both a name and money for themselves while at it. When such a person comes online to ask questions like the OP, it is for like-minded people to answer.

Exactly 💯

In terms of infrastructure, the best governors in Nigeria are (in no particular order):

Udom Emmanuel
Dave Umahi
Babajide Sanwo-Olu
Prof Babagana Zulum
Nyesom Wike

Others need to take classes on infrastructure from those five.

Worthy mention: Nasir El-Rufai but didn't make my list because he cannot compete with the 5.

Where is Kano state governor?
