Culture / Re: Dreadlocks = Rastafarism? by ruffstylie(m): 5:25am On Sep 23, 2010
People associate dreadlocks with rastafari all the time because they think the two go hand and hand.

First of all, dreadlocks are a part of the rastafari culture but you can be a rastafari and not have dreads. Rastafari is a religious belief but more importantly, a way of life. It is not a hairstyle. In fact, it pisses REAL rastas off when people associate anyone with dreads as being rasta. Dreadlocks is just a hairstyle, no more, no less.

There is a stigma in the Caribbean too against dreads and rastas but younger generation is getting wiser.

to my knowledge there are few carribeans in nigeria there are alot more in ghana. one carribean famous rapper called 'beenie man' has a house in ghana.

Cool. By the way, Beenie Man isn't a rapper. He's a dancehall artist. A rapper and dancehall artist are similar but not the same.

I made this thread in another forum and someone advised me that I'd be able to get more answers if I post a thread in here. I am just wondering if:

1) There are a lot of Caribbeans living in Nigeria, where do they live or do they have Caribbean communities in Nigeria ?

2) What is the general attitude of Nigerians towards Caribbeans in Nigeria ?

Please share your thoughts.
