The situation the world has found itself in at the moment as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak is quite problematic not only to the economy but also to politics, healthcare and even sports.
My particular interest is in the world of sports and the trickle-down effect it has on sports betting. Personally, I am opposed to the cancellation (voiding) of any of the on-going sports competition.
It is no longer news that most sporting events across the world have been halted temporarily with a strong likelihood of voiding the entire season.
For me, this is quite a dicey situation because common logic lets us know that if a season gets cancelled then all the previously played events (matches) are automatically cancelled and thereby voiding all previously played events.
Still, in the same line of thought, that means bookmakers (betting sites) will have to review all bet slips (tickets) that have at least an event from such a league that has been cancelled and void the event (events) accordingly. This will surely convert some bet slips (tickets) from a "lost" status to a "won" status or to a "total refund" in cases where the ticket had just one event or all events voided.
It's truly a dicey situation for all affected most especially the bookmakers, as the potential monetary loss will be enormous.

FIRST DEPOSIT SPORTSBOOK BONUS

1.The bonus matches 100% of your first deposit up to NGN 100,000.

This means:
if you deposit 1,000NGN, you will get another NGN 1,000 of bonus.
If you deposit NGN 200,000 you will get an additional NGN 100,000.

2.The minimum deposit is N100.

7. For the bonus money to be turned into the real/withdrawal amount, you need to stake 4 times the original deposit and potential bonus amount. All the bets need to be settled first.
This means:
If you deposit N1000, you need to stake a total of N8,000 using real or bonus money. If you deposit N1000 and activate only N500, you will still be required to stake 4 times N2000 i.e (Original deposit 1000+ potential bonus 1000 = N2000)* 4

8. All money in the bonus account will be credited as real money after the requirements have been reached (see requirements for details of contributing and non-contributing bets).

9. If the turnover requirements are not met within 45 days since the bonus activation, then the bonus balance will be forfeited.

NOTE: The PAUSE BONUS feature is not an avenue for extending the validity period, however, this allows you to place a bet from your real money account whenever you want.

10.Apart from the multiplier bonus on sportsbook, you cannot have multiple bonus programs activated at any one time. To activate another bonus program, the current bonus needs to be completed or expired.

11. The sportsbook multiplier bonus will be given regardless of whether the first deposit bonus is activated or not.

CONTRIBUTING / NON-CONTRIBUTING BETS

12. We will refer to contributing bets as bets that are counted towards meeting the turnover requirements. Non-contributing bets do not count towards meeting the requirements.

18. Voided bets, cancelled bets and bets that have been cashed out are non-contributing.

19. Bet containing events finishing after the bonus expiry date will not be contributing.

20. Selections whose results are voided, half-won or half-lost are not added to the contribution criteria of that bet. For example, if a Draw-No-Bet is placed and a stake is given back due to a draw, such selection will not be counted. Nevertheless, if the other selections do meet the criteria, then the odd is contributing.

21. The contribution on won bets is only added after confirming that the contributing criteria are still valid and have not changed since the placement time.

22. If evidence of a breach of the promotion rules is verified, or the operator deems that the bets placed guarantee customer winning regardless of the results of events, the operator reserves the right to forfeit the bonus amount from the offer.

23. In the unlikely event that bonus money has been released prior to a reopening of events, the operator reserves the right to reclaim the released bonus amount.

24. Promotional offers are limited to per person, family, household address, email address, telephone number, same payment account number (e.g. debit or credit card, Interswitch account etc), and shared computer, e.g. public library or workplace. The operator reserves the right to forfeit the offer availability if the player is deemed to have already participated in the promotion.

I am seriously upset with this mobile networks. Please, Nairalanders did any of you get a message for GSM network provides that each time you dial your bank USSD code that you get charged? From the information I have gathered so far, this trend started about a week ago. It is painful that this network provides feel they can do anyhow forgetting that customers have rights in Nigeria.
The Consumer Protection Council on their website stated clearly the rights of a consumer of either goods or services ( http://www.cpc.gov.ng/index.php/consumers )

As a consumer, you have the following rights and you must insist on them:
• The right to Satisfaction of Basic Needs Access to basic goods and services necessary for survival, such as food, water, energy, clothing, shelter, health-care, education and sanitation. Goods and services must meet the standard of quality promised such that there is value for money in the purchase.
• The Right to Safety Protection from hazardous products, production processes and services.
• The Right to Information Provision of information enabling informed consumer choice as well as protection from misleading or inaccurate advertising and labeling.
• The Right to Choose Access to variety of quality products and services at competitive prices.
• The Right to Redress Compensation for misrepresentation, shoddy goods and unsatisfactory public and private services, including the right to adequate legal representation
• The Right to Consumer Education Acquisition of the skills required to be an informed consumer throughout life

The highlighted portion of the consumer right above has clearly been violated by GSM Network providers.
Firstly, my GSM network provider did not provide ME (as their consumer) with the information that they have stated charging ME each time I dial my Bank USSD code therefore preventing me consumers from making an informed decision. I would have opted to us the Internet Banking option or Mobile App Banking.
Secondly, they did not inform my bank (as their client) that they want to begin charging ME for using my Bank’s USSD code services.
Thirdly, they internal decided somewhere at the management level to pilfer from ME their consumer.
