Romance › Re: Overwhelmed By Job Loss And Financial Stress by ruzell86: 10:07pm On Jan 11 |
iyke484real: Hello everyone, good morning, happy weekend, happy new month and happy new year to all of you beautiful family of Nairaland..
I'm reaching out in the hopes of finding some support and guidance during this particularly challenging time in my life. As the new year begins, I'm facing a perfect storm of financial difficulties, depression, and anxiety following the loss of my job.
After completing my national youth service, I was fortunate to secure a job that provided me with a sense of purpose and stability. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the contract between my employer and the state government was terminated, and I found myself among the laid-off workers.
The sudden loss of my only source of income has left me feeling lost and overwhelmed. I'm struggling to make ends meet, and the pressure to support my mother's healthcare needs is weighing heavily on me. To make matters worse, my house rent is due on February 2, 2026, and I'm unsure about how I'll manage to pay it.
I'm finding it difficult to cope with the stress and uncertainty of my situation, and I'm in desperate need of guidance and support. If anyone has experienced similar challenges or has any advice to offer, I would be grateful for your insights. I'm eager to take steps towards improving my situation, but I'm not sure where to start.
If you have any suggestions or know of any resources that could help, please share. Your support and guidance would mean a lot to me.
Best regards, I don't know if this would help... But, I will say first step is you should try to be calmLet me assume you have some little savings. Talk to family members or friends to raise money to sort your rent or to make part payment, as this is the most important bill for you now (you need a place to think and plan). Then find something legitimate do by all means to earn an income no matter how small for a restart, work, pray and have absolute faith in God. Divine help will come for you. |

Akinpedia: You’ve dropped gems o! 😂 I love how you’ve balanced sense with humour.
Office romance—fair point. Not everyone can separate emotions from environment, and honestly your mama’s advice is premium wisdom. Some people don use workplace turn heartbreak HQ.
And that part about having an understanding partner? Spot on. Stability at home really does make the “market” less chaotic. It’s the small check-ins that build something solid.
As for weekends—omo, your boundaries are elite! Airplane mode from Friday evening? I respect it. People who protect their peace like that actually show up better everywhere else.
Thanks for adding your perspective. This your “small contribution” na full masterclass. 😄👏🏾 Thanks baba Actually, as per the airplane mode... I usually turn off intermittently after some hours to check dropped messages on WhatsApp. I reply the few I want and go off again... no calls pls. For the peace issue, even bible said love your neighbour as yourself... not more than yourself. How will I deliver well if I'm not well recharged or okay myself. |

Make I just contribute small to your long tori... Office romance ? Nah, I don't subscribe to it... "my mama teach me not to shit in the place I eat." Although, I build close friendships M/F for a mutual time of need (excluding romance). I mean I do my sina (waywardness) faaarr away. Then as per traffic..? Best to have an understanding Partner. Regularly and around specific hrs, my spouse will call/text briefly just to check on how my day is going. "It's often said the market could be unstable, but the home shouldn't."So, it's vital to know that as you make your bed, so you lay on it. Lastly, the weekend is strictly family time, infact from Friday evening. We unwind and refresh ahead ahead... unless I get worthy side hustle. Honestly, you'd be as lucky as a man that found gold... if I pick your calls for any work/office related stuffs at weekends even if you are my boss, abi you wan call pesin wey dey airplane mode? People know, so they adapt... QED |

Emceecee: I was going through the thread and there was a lot of pain and struggle, I guess it's nothing to be surprised about. The thing is, they have a commonality.
There was a Russian physicist who claimed to discover how the universe works and wrote a really big book about it called reality transurfing. In it he describes a lot of things, and I'll like to mention one of them which seems to be very common, and that's the Idea of excess importance.
Have you ever noticed how people often attract the very thing they’re trying to escape? The one who fears loneliness ends up in relationships that make them feel invisible. The one desperate for money keeps meeting setbacks and scarcity. The one who wants peace often finds themselves surrounded by chaos.
It’s not that life is cruel — it’s that life mirrors what we energize the most.
Whenever we give something excess importance, we create an imbalance in our inner state — a kind of energetic “charge.” And because nature always seeks balance, life responds by bringing the opposite pole into play.
The person who fears poverty gives it power — every thought of lack becomes a silent request. The person who worships success with desperation attracts delay and resistance. The one who obsesses over being loved often draws people who confirm their fears instead.
It’s not punishment — it’s balance.
The world doesn’t respond to words like “I want” or “I hate.” It responds to feeling. And the heart doesn’t distinguish between positive and negative emotion — it only feels intensity. So when we spend our days emotionally charged by worry, fear, or frustration, we unknowingly send out a powerful signal — one that calls back experiences carrying that same emotional tone.
That’s why it seems like we attract our opposites. The ambitious meet the passive. The kind meet the ungrateful. The driven meet delay.
It’s not random — it’s resonance.
Let me give an example: Let's see someone is like oh I have money and people are suffering so I want to help them. Nature doesn't understand people suffering but you to see that thought and energy you give at excess importance and so it's like there is a charge that is too much here and so we need to balance it with something that removes it. So the generous man attracts someone that takes advantage of him, does so use like people are wicked and ungrateful I will never help anyone again. This nature restores balance.
The more importance we attach to something, the more the world moves to neutralize it. And the more we resist what we dislike, the more life reinforces it.
So when things go wrong, the question isn’t “Why is this happening to me?” It’s “Where have I placed too much importance?”
Often, what we need isn’t to fight harder, but to release the tension — to stop charging our reality with desperation, control, or emotional weight.
When we stop demanding so much from life, life begins to respond. When we stop seeing ourselves as victims or heroes in constant struggle, balance returns naturally.
You don’t have to force outcomes — reality unfolds around the quality of your inner state. If that inner state is peace, peace reflects. If it’s tension, tension reflects.
What's the solution? Not fight, but to go with the flow, set and intention and rid oneself of desire and importance. Of course there's a lot more, but perhaps this will get you started.
Oh, in case I forgot to mention, the world reflects you relationship to it, like a mirror. For example saying you hate poverty and you want money doesn't bring money to you, the world will reflect, your hate, of poverty, and your want of money, that is the nature of the mirror. If you were to say instead I am rich and have money................, that's a start. The bolded works like magic... asin keeping my head straight, yet "Unbothered." |
