I have a few questions;
1. That colourful breed you have there (I guess Harlequin), how does it compare in size/weight to the Peking ducks?
2. Do they fly?
3. And if I should acquire that to add to my existing Peking, how do I stop them from cross breeding?

That breed is quite colourful and beautiful.

1.You’ve said it all I really do not have the time probably due to the facts that it’s not only poultry I run I have so many other sections so I majorly just pick a niche
I do mostly growouts and never actually sold per kg so there hasn’t been any need to weigh them

2.They glide they don’t fly unlike the Muscovy

3. You’d have to separate em once they reach breeding age ( each breed should have their own space otherwise they’d interbreed which is why we don’t exactly have pure strains around here)

I took your advice and got 5 Pekin ducks of 8 weeks old last year. I think you didn't have at the time.

I'm actually not satisfied with their growth. One drake we killed to eat in early January this year weighed just about 1.6kg live weight.

However I found something else interesting about them. They are laying machines. They've been laying eggs steadily since November last year. I think they may lay as much as 250 to 300 eggs per year if you don't let them sit.

After initially laying eggs carelessly anywhere and in the open, they later began to choose hidden places, make nests and lay. Initially I will remove all the eggs but I later allowed the eggs of one and it sat and hatched 7 ducklings. They were 3 weeks old yesterday and I separated the mother. The mother has been screaming since yesterday and won't leave the environment where the ducklings are. But the ducklings don't seem to miss their mother. They are not screaming.

Mine are on semi free range. They move about freely within a fenced compound. I provide feed for them.
