Only Hawks And Oil Money Thieves Will Vote For Jonathan In 2015 - Kwankwaso Kano State Governor and Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rabi’u Kwankwaso has told journalists that the people who would vote for President Jonathan in 2015 are hawks. On why he thinks he can defeat president Jonathan come next year in the presidential race if he begs APC’s ticket, Kwankwaso said; I don’t know why (President Goodluck) Jonathan and I collected our nomination forms the same day. Maybe the indication is that both of us are going to slug it out in 2015, and once that happens, I am sure you know the answer – he is going to lose. I don’t see anybody who will be happy to vote for him apart from the hawks in Abuja and of course, those contractors and others who are stealing crude oil and oil money. These are the ones that will be happy to vote for him again so that they can continue milking the economy of this country. But the masses, the talakawas of Kano, Enugu, Zamfara, and Bayelsa will be very happy to have a change, a change that will guarantee security of lives and properties of Nigerians, no matter where they live, no matter their religion or ethnicity. These are going to be the issues in 2015, security, economy, not minding the fabricated figures that come from Abuja, indicating that all is well. All cannot be well where you have crises, where you have insecurity, where people are scared of bringing their investments into the country. All these cannot help the economy anywhere in the world. We have all these issues on the ground and certainly, sentiments will not work in 2015. All the antics of dividing the country based on religion, based on North and South, based on ethnicity and class will certainly fail in 2015. And I want to advice INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) to be cautious, because somebody was telling me about suspected tricks of INEC using computer to help a particular political party in 2015. But we will keep our eyes open and make sure that every single vote counts next year. |
KANO – Kano Governor and All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has endorsed his septuagenarian Deputy, Dr. Umar Ganduje as his successor. The development was the ooutcome of a crucial meeting by the All Progressive Congress stakeholders in the state Friday morning. The marathon meeting that lasted over 7 hours also endorsed the aspirants for senatorial positions. They are former military administrator of Kaduna state, Brigadier Lawan Jafar Isa for Kano central; Kabiru Gaya, Kano south; while former Deputy Governor during the administration of Ibrahim Shekarau, Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo would fly APC senatorial flag from Kano n http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/kano-guber-race-kwankwaso-endorses-deputy/#sthash.1kSYM2NE.dpuf Source.. |
The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) is moving closer to grab the majority position from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives, findings by Daily Trust has revealed. Investigation has revealed that about 21 PDP lawmakers have notified the leadership of the lower chamber of their intention to join the APC in the coming days. Also, two senators are set to dump the PDP. The House, which reconvened for a special session to consider emergency rule extension last week, adjourned following the invasion of the parliament building by the police and would resume on December 3rd. Last December, APC seized the majority position from the PDP when 37 PDP Reps dumped the ruling party. However, the majority position of the APC was short- lived after some of its members defected to PDP amidst allegations of financial inducements from the presidency. In recent weeks, PDP Reps had threatened to dump the party after their state governors edged them out in the just concluded party ward congresses which elected delegates that will vote in the primary elections. The party and the presidency had asked that the lawmakers institute an impeachment against Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal after he defected to the APC on October 28 but they told the PDP national chairman Adamu Mu’azu that they must be given automatic tickets in return. Daily Trust findings however revealed that since the PDP congress, not fewer than 22 lawmakers have written to notify the leadership of their decision to defect to the APC. Deputy minority leader Suleiman Kawu Sumaila (APC, Kano) confirmed the impending defection of the PDP Reps and said they expect more to join APC after the ruling party’s National Assembly primary election in the coming days. ‘Defectors’ From Kaduna State, Reps Jagaba Adams Jagaba and Isah Ashiru have already dumped the PDP, while four of their colleagues from Bauchi State have also notified the leadership of their intention. Two members from Akwa Ibom State including Rep. Robinson Uwak are set to join APC and four others from Kebbi State anytime soon. “We are certain that after the primaries more PDP members will join us in the APC,” Rep. Kawu Sumaila said. Sources in the Senate also said Senators Atiku Bagudu from Kebbi State and Saidu Alkali from Gombe State are also talking with parliamentary opposition leaders ahead of their formal defection. Bagudu, sources said is defecting because of misunderstanding with Governor Saidu Dakingari over his return ticket, the same with Alkali who lost out in the just concluded PDP congress. The Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday said it has arrested some suspects in Lagos, allegedly cloning INEC’s Permanent Voters Card. A statement issued by the spokeswoman of the service, Ms Marilyn Ogar in Abuja said that it raided a building located at No.10, Bola Ajbola street, Allen Avenue, following a petition it received alleging “unwholesome activities’’ there. “The petition alleged that those behind the activities were cloning INEC Permanent Voters Card with the intention of hacking into INEC data base, corrupting it and replacing them with their own data. “Based on this information, the service placed the building under surveillance and having been convinced that some unwholesome activities were going on in the building, it undertook a raid of the premises. “In the process, some persons were arrested, while a Server, three hard drive and 31 Ghana must go bags of hard copy document were recovered and taken away for further investigation’’, she said. According to her, the said location had no sign post indicating whether it was a private or government office. It will be recalled that Alhaji Lai Mohammed alleged invasion of the state office of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) on Saturday. The Kano state Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that the tools of sentiments, tribalism and religion, being used by the Goodluck Jonathan government would not work for it in 2015. Mr. Kwankwaso alleged that Mr. Jonathan thinks he can hold on to power in 2015 by exploiting the religious and tribal differences in Nigeria. The governor said Nigerians, however, are ready to vote the Jonathan administration out. Speaking to journalists on Monday, he said nobody apart from “the crooks in Abuja,” who are stealing Nigeria’s oil money are “enjoying” as suffering has become the order of the day. ‘Therefore, it is evidently clear that the days of Jonathan’s government are numbered,” Mr. Kwankaso said. “He should start preparing to pack his belongings back to his village, because Nigerians will no doubt sack them in 2015; no matter what they are using. From South to North people are highly disturbed by the situation in Nigeria.” Speaking on the attacks on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Kwankwaso said: “These people in Abuja are shameless. Whenever somebody defects to them, they celebrate even if it is on a day of fast. PDP has not seen anything yet, wait till 2015 they will see how they will be kicked out from office.” Source; https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=365375026973398&id=125341937643376&refid=28&_ft_=qid.6077545884802502179%3Amf_story_key.7421991631388810818&__tn__=%2As |

The Harms of Shisha & Hookah I know of many Muslims who are using shisha (also known as Hookah) and think there’s no harm in this. This is not the case and that’s probably because (to my knowledge) the scholars have not adequately promoted this issue – certainly I haven’t come across enough education on shisha. Shisha is the new social thing, men and women are doing it and children see this and also think there is nothing wrong. However this is a grave misunderstanding, and there is a ruling to say it is haraam (see bottom of post) , and I’ll explain why. Please note that in the UK it is illegal to sell any tobacco products to anyone under 18 and this includes tobacco products for shisha pipes. What is Shisha? Shisha is basically a water pipe through which, fruit-scented herbs and spices (mixed with tobacco) is burnt using coal, and then this is passed through a water container and inhaled through a pipe. The pipe is normally shared between a group of people (adding to the unhealthy nature of this social past- time). In a non-ventilated room, using a shisha pipe will soon fill that room with a very light (as in hard to see) and subtle smoke – for people who are non- smokers, this will give you a slight headache (and certainly it had this effect on me – by the way I am not a shisha smoker, nor a smoker of any kind). Health considerations Latest research from the Department of Health in the UK has found that shisha tobacco can be many times more harmful than cigarettes. Tobacco is imported from a number of coutries but as there is no legislation in the UK which currently covers this, it is not something that the authorities can prevent from happening. When trying to work out what is in the tobacco, NHS lab technicians have often found ingredients which are unidentifiable and therefore a health risk as, basically, you do not know exactly what you are inhaling. Smoking shisha can lead to carbon monoxide levels that can be 4 or 5 times higher than that of cigarettes. High levels of carbon monoxide can lead to brain damage and unconciousness. It can also contribute to cancer of the lungs. ‘Dr Hilary Wareing, director of the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre, told the BBC’s Asian Network she was shocked by the results of the research. “Our mouths opened at the level of harm – none of the tests we did showed anything other than shisha is hazardous to health.”‘ Smoke from Shisha besides others contains hundreds of potentially dangerous heavy metals like, Arsenic, Cobalt, Chromium and Lead. Under normal Shisha use the smoke produced from a single pipe use contain approximately the same amount of Nicotine and Tar equivalent to 20 Cigarettes. Research has also shown that after 45 minutes of Shisha use expired air, carbon monoxide, plasma nicotine and heart rate are significantly elevated. Nicotine dependence may also result from repeated inhalation of tobacco smoke from Shisha. Many people do not regard shisha as being hamrful or even smoking, as it has been a part of Middle Eastern, Asian and African culture for many years. This is probably the biggest harm that is happening here: the lack of understanding about shisha. For many years, smokers of cigarettes and cigars and tobacco lived in denial of the fact that smoking kills; we seem to be heading down the same path for shisha-users. Many people do not realise the harms of shisha nor have looked into this enough. The fact that we have more and more shisha bars appearing in public also gives this false impression that shisha smoking must be ok and free of any health risks (but you wouldn’t have that same impressions of pubs). As Muslims we should not engage in activities that are harmful to our health: “And do not kill yourselves” [al-Nisa’ 4:29] “and do not throw yourselves into destruction” [al- Baqarah 2:195] Read the below articles and bring these to the attention of the scholars. More effort is needed by our learned people to alert Muslims to the dangers of shisha smoking. Source: http://standup4islam./2011/10/01/the-harms-of-shisha-hookah/

Kano State Governor and APC opposition leader Rabiu Kwankwaso promises "Malawi treatment" for President Goodluck jonathan Excerpts of the interview: PT : What is your view on how the Federal Government is handling the state of insecurity in Nigeria, especially in the north? Kwankwaso: The issue of security is key. Any government that cannot provide basic needs of its people means it is simply not there, that is why even the International Community feels like there is no government on ground in Nigeria. A leader from America said his government has wasted too much time waiting for a government in Nigeria that is almost non-existent. He is not a Nigerian, and that is exactly the fact of the matter. So many people have advised this government, especially on the issue of the North East . The North East should have a special Marshall Plan to support them. Every leader has his particular challenge, when President Yar’Adua came to power he had a challenge from the South-South, in the Niger Delta and he did his best to tackle that challenge. By the grace of God the situation is much better there. Today whether you are from the South or North, Christian or Muslim does not matter; what really matter is how to get peace back. We have seen a situation in this country where some people are raising their own flags, It doesn’t help anybody. Every square inch of this country belongs to Mr. President; it doesn’t matter what religion, culture or people they are. People are being killed, maimed and even taken away on daily basis, like needles, people just disappear. As we speak we have thousands of Nigerians in Niger Republic, Cameroun and Chad as refugees and nobody is even talking about them. They are just there at the mercy of their hosts. These are the issues on the ground that must be tackled instead they are going from church to church to bring in sentiment on the issue. The people being killed and stolen are both Muslims and Christians, but it took them 18 days to agree that over 270 Nigerian children were stolen. They never wanted to believe that it happened. The woman leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was even asking for their pictures, asking what their names are? They were being mischievous over the matter. A government in a blessed and rich country like Nigeria cannot protect its citizens. Any government that cannot protect Nigerians doesn’t deserve to be in office. Being a president is not about personal enjoyment, it also does not mean protecting some and ignoring others. Once anyone is elected as a President or a Governor, you are no more the Chairman of your party, you are no more Edwin Clark, who is the leader of the Ijaw nation, but you are the President for both who voted for you and those who did not, those who like you, and those who do not like you. We are seeing a situation where people are at the helm of leadership but still feel that they are cheated. PT : Let’s talk politics now. Are we likely to see more governors joining the APC? Kwankwaso: Of course, it is possible but what I know is that whether governors join us or not, the people are already with us. I have not taken the time to go to the South to study what is happening, but I had time to study the North. In the 19 states I don’t see any state where under free and fair election, people will go and vote for the status quo. The status quo is not good for anybody because they have failed to provide the basic services to justify why the people voted for this government. They may think they are still popular, not only do they lack the capacity, the people around them are even worse, because they don’t tell them the truth, and that is why things keep getting worst by the day. Funny enough, they don’t even have the true position of things. As far as they are concerned, everything is ok and the country is moving in the right direction. That is what they tell the President. Well, of course, that is not good, but politically, I think that is good for our party. They will be shocked. Nigerians will do to them what the Malawians did to their government. We will Malawi them in 2015. Jonathan will be number three. I hope APGA and Labour will stop deceiving themselves. If they can get a good presidential candidate, he will be number three. He will be number three pursuing third term. PT : During the controversy generated during the appointment of the new Emir of Kano, we understand the president planned to go to Kano, but when the current emir was the one who emerged, he changed his mind. As governor, were you informed that the President was visiting? Kwankwaso: Well, someone called me and told me he was coming. But, when they realised that they were inducing crises, he refused to go. PT: On this allegation of inducing crisis, did you on your own reach out to the president, since it became clear to you that he had a hand in what was happening? Kwankwaso: Well, I am yet to get in touch with them, but I will get in touch with them. I am sure they will know my position even through you. I keep on advising them that in democracy, governors are not important. Who are important are the local government chairmen, councillors, press men and the ordinary people. They should open a channel of communication. That is the responsibility of the leader. In Kano for instance, it is very easy for me to communicate with anybody, and if I don’t want to communicate with you, there is no way you can communicate with me. The same thing applies with the president. The mistake started long ago, but reached its peak when we had our election at the governors’ forum and elected Rotimi Amaechi to be our own chairman. The Governors forum is like a club, an association, and at the end of the day, Amaechi won by 19 votes. But he and his party, recognised the man with 16 votes. That was the beginning of our problem. We have never seen something like that. That association is not even constitutional. It is just a union of group of friends, but under this administration, even governors cannot choose their monitor. They will have to decide for us. That was the genesis of the crisis and at the end of the day, everybody was kicked out except the 16. They are the ones getting billions of naira in the name of ecological fund. He just dashes them the money and that is unfortunate. PT: But are you protesting? Kwankwaso: We did and we are still protesting. We can’t allow them to continue getting billions, while we get nothing. Even the appointment of an emir which is ordinarily the job of the Local Government, the President wanted to hijack it. When it comes to appointment of persons at the federal level they put our enemies who are their friends. That is not fair. HEART TOUCHING STORY "FAITH IN ALLAH" This story was recounted by Prof. Khalid Al-Jubeir, consulting cardiovascular surgeon, in one of his lectures: Once I operated on a two and a half year old child. It was Tuesday, and on Wednesday the child was in good health. On Thursday at 11:15 am - and I'll never forget the time because of the shock I experienced - one of the nurses informed me that the heart and breathing of the child had stopped. I hurried to the child and performed cardiac massage for 45 minutes and during that entire time the heart would not work. Then, ALLAH decreed for the heart to resume function and we thanked HIM. I went to inform the child's family about his condition. As you know, it is very difficult to inform the patient's family about his condition when it's bad. This is one of the most difficult situations a doctor is subjected to but it is necessary. So I looked for the child's father whom I couldn't find. Then I found his mother. I told her that the child's cardiac arrest was due to bleeding in his throat; we don't know the cause of this bleeding and fear that his brain is dead. So how do you think she responded? Did she cry? Did she blame me? No, nothing of the sort. Instead, she said "Alhamdulillah" (All Praise is due to ALLAH) and left me. After 10 days, the child started moving. We thanked ALLAH and were happy that his brain condition was reasonable. After 12 days, the heart stopped again because of the same bleeding. We performed another cardiac massage for 45 minutes but this time his heart didn't respond. I told his mother that there was no hope. So she said: "Alhamdulillah. O ALLAH, if there is good in his recovery, then cure him, O my Lord." With the grace of ALLAH, his heart started functioning again. He suffered six similar cardiac arrests till a trachea specialist was able to stop the bleeding and the heart started working properly. Now, three and a half months had passed and the child was recovering but did not move. Then just as he started moving, he was afflicted with a very large and strange pus-filled abscess in his head, the likes of which I had never seen. I informed his mother of the serious development. She said "Alhamdulillah" and left me. We immediately turned him over to the surgical unit that deals with the brain and nervous system and they took over his treatment. Three weeks later, the boy recovered from this abscess but was still not moving. Two weeks pass and he suffers from a strange blood poisoning and his temperature reaches 41.2°C (106°F). I again informed his mother of the serious development and she said with patience and certainty: "Alhamdulillah. O ALLAH, if there is good in his recovery, then cure him." After seeing his mother who was with her child at Bed#5, I went to see another child at Bed#6. I found that child's mother crying and screaming, "Doctor! Doctor! Do something! The boy's temperature reached 37.6°C (99.68°F)! He's going to die! He's going to die!" I said with surprise, "Look at the mother of that child in Bed#5. Her child's fever is over 41°C (106°F), yet she is patient and praises ALLAH." So she replied: "That woman isn't conscious and has no senses". At that point, I remembered the great Hadith of the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Sallam): "Blessed are the strangers." Just two words. but indeed two words that shake a nation! In 23 years of hospital service, I have never seen the likes of this patient sister. We continued to care for him. Now, six and a half months have passed and the boy finally came out of the recovery unit - not talking, not seeing, not hearing, not moving, not smiling, and with an open chest in which you can see his beating heart. The mother changed the dressing regularly and remained patient and hopeful. Do you know what happened after that? Before I inform you, what do you think are the prospects of a child who has passed through all these dangers, agonies, and diseases? And what do you expect this patient mother to do whose child is at the brink of the grave and who is unable to do anything except supplicate and beseech ALLAH? Do you know what happened two and a half months later? The boy was completely cured by the mercy of ALLAH and as a reward for this pious mother. He now races his mother with his feet as if nothing happened and he became sound and healthy as he was before. The story doesn't end here. This is not what moved me and brought tears to my eyes. What filled my eyes with tears is what follows: One and a half years after the child left the hospital, one of the brothers from the Operations Unit informed me that a man, his wife and two children wanted to see me. I asked who they were and he replied that he didn't know them. So I went to see them, and I found the parents of the same child whom I operated upon. He was now five years old and like a flower in good health - as if nothing happened to him. With them also was a four-month old newborn. I welcomed them kindly and then jokingly asked the father whether the newborn was the 13th or 14th child. He looked at me with an astonishing smile as if he pitied me. He then said, "This is the second child, and the child upon whom you operated is our first born, bestowed upon us after 17 years of infertility. And after being granted that child, he was afflicted with the conditions that you've seen." At hearing this, I couldn't control myself and my eyes filled with tears. I then involuntarily grabbed the man by the arm, and pulling him to my room, asked him about his wife: "Who is this wife of yours who after 17 years of infertility has this much patience with all the fatal conditions that afflict her first born?! Her heart cannot be barren! It must be fertile with Imaan!"Do you know what he said? Listen carefully my dear brothers and sisters. He said, "I was married to this woman for 19 years and for all these years she has never missed the [late] night prayers except due to an authorized excuse. I have never witnessed her backbiting, gossiping, or lying. Whenever I leave home or return, she opens the door, supplicates for me, and receives me hospitably. And in everything she does, she demonstrates the utmost love, care, courtesy, and compassion." The man completed by saying, "Indeed, doctor, because of all the noble manners and affection with which she treats me, I'm shy to lift up my eyes and look at her. So I said to him: "And the likes of her truly deserve that from you." |
