A 14-year-old boy identified as Goodluck Abiola, has died while an unknown number of people were injured following the flash flood that hit Sagamu town in Ogun State after a heavy downpour.

It was gathered that the flooding which occurred on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, affected communities such as Ajaka, Express Junction, Ogunyanwo, Olayinka, Isale-Ojumele and Makun area of Sagamu.

The victim who was said to be a student of Agbele Community High School because of the uniform he reportedly had on, drowned in the flood after he fell off a bike.

It was further gathered that properties running to millions of naira were lost to the incident while some residents sustained injuries.

Residents of the area lamented that valuable goods and properties were always lost anytime it rained due to the small drainage system in the area.

They said the community couldn’t withstand the impact of the erosion which is usually enormous. They also said some motorcycles were swept away by the torrent, while many valuable goods and properties were also lost in the process.
Some people who were swept away by the flooding were said to have sustained different degrees of injuries.
A resident of the area, Banjo Adeoye, told newsmen, “We had something like this last year and it was more terrible, we cried out to the government
The state Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, on Wednesday, confirmed the incident when he paid a visit to the affected areas.
Oresanya said that the redesign of the state drainage, has become imperative.
He however called on the Federal Government for assistance.

A woman has been arrested after she allegedly posed naked on a sacred tree in Bali, Indonesia.

Luiza Kosykh was arrested by authorities in Bali after being accused of pressing her body against an ancient weeping paperbark.

The 700-year-old wood, in Bayan Village in the Tabanan Regency, is located on the grounds of a temple and is considered sacred by many locals.

Tedy Riyandi, the head of Denpasar Immigration Office, has confirmed the arrest.

The alleged act has caused an uproar with locals.
Writing on Instagram on April 11, activist Ni Luh Djelantik said: "To all foreigner who disrespect our land, Bali is our home, not yours!

"For those who feel cool for rejecting Israel, wake up and see your homeland being destroyed.
"Does anyone want to donate clothes? Our breasts are sticking to the holy tree.
"And again, a foreigner poses inappropriately in our holy place. Let them understand, beloved.”

The activist pointed out this wasn’t the first time such an event had taken place.

"You know, we have to perform the Guru Piduka ceremony again after last year Mbok also reprimanded a naked foreigner who climbed the 700-year-old Holy Tree located in Pura Babakan, Adat Bayan Village, Desa Tua District, Marga, and then they were deported.”

The activist then began to call people out on the online platform, adding: "Bali is our home. Not yours. Do you think you'll look cool taking naked picture on our holy trees?

"Go back to your country if you can't respect our tradition and culture!”

They then called on local individuals to act to protect local sacred sites, continuing: "Thank you for protecting the dignity of Bali and the honour of the Balinese people."

Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, held an open casket viewing ceremony for his late wife, Ifeoma Ada Kalu, at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, North Carolina, in the United States.

Kalu shared pictures from the open casket viewing via his Facebook account on Wednesday, April 12.

He wrote: "Ahead of tomorrow’s service of songs for my late ex-wife Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu , we had an open casket viewing at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, North Carolina, USA.

"We will miss our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Sister and Aunt.

"We would miss a compassionate, selfless, wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. A woman who taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination.

"May her soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall meet again.

Recall that Orji Uzor Kalu announced his late wife's death on April 3, 2023.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command has paraded 13 suspected criminals arrested for various offences ranging from cultism, stealing, cyber stalking, criminal conspiracy, assault and attempted murder.

The spokesperson of the Corps in the state, Tolulope Afolabi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement, said six of the suspects allegedly stripped a 23-year-old lady, Omolola Muda, poured pepper into her private part while filming her and afterward posted the video online.

According to the spokesperson, the victim reported a case of attempted murder on her and how she was stripped naked by the suspects over a misunderstanding.

“The suspects, Tosin Adebayo 22years, Abejide Olamide 22 years, Adeoye Adesewa 21years, Oke Oluwanife 22 years old, Ayeni Banke 22 years and Adekola Iremide 22 years had been on the radar of Counter Terrorism Unit Since 18th March 2023 before they were arrested yesterday at 10 Ekute Area of Ado Ekiti,” the statement read.
"Miss Omolola Muda, 23 years, had approached the Command and reported a case of attempted murder against the above suspects and how she was mobbed by 7 of them, stripped her naked as a result of a misunderstanding between them. After she victim was stripped, the suspects injected pepper into her private part, took the video and posted it on the social media group created by the principal suspect Tosin Adebayo who is the group leader.
“Preliminary investigation by the Counter Terrorism Unit showed that the suspects are members of a cult group in the state capital and their mission initially was to kill the victim and dump her in a pit before an unknown person in the neighborhood came to her rescue,”

In another development, some students of Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti were arrested by the Counter Terrorist Unit on the 8th of April 2023. The students were suspected members of Eye Fraternity who were wrecking havoc on the people living along Poly road, Ado Ekiti.

According to Afolabi, the Counter Terrorism Unit received a complaint from One Mr. Emmanuel Oyekunle of Oyeban Hotel Junction, along Poly Road about a threat to his life, stealing and destruction of his property by a suspected cultists group. The CTU quickly acted on the information and later arrested seven suspects in connection with the crime.

The suspects, Adebayo Ayomideji 19 years, Aladegbemi Oluwafemi 22 years, Ayedemi Damilola Tosin (f) 18 years, Oyebanji Selim 20 years, Abiodun Taiwo (f) 23 years old Taiwo Okunmakinju (f) 23 years and Abiodun Kehinde Seun (f) 25 years were arrested with some of the stolen goods in their custody.

Threat messages were earlier received by the complainant through one of the suspects phone number about their intentions to loot his shop and destroy his property before they eventually committed the crime.

All the suspects are currently assisting the command to trace other members of the confraternity with an assurance from Counter Terrorism Unit that other members of the group will be arrested and send to court and concluding of preliminary investigation about the matter.

Afolabi quoted the State Commandant, John Olatunde Fayemi, as saying that “the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command has been working assiduously to make sure that Ekiti State is free from pockets of security breaches like this and the command under his watch, will open open his eyes and allow young boys and girls who are supposed to be our leaders of tomorrow, destroy our heritage and relegated human dignity with impunity.”

Pls with few days to commence nysc registration for stream 2 I discovered my Jamb result slip is carrying an age which is above 30 while my school files,,nin and other credentials are carrying an age below 30. Pls I really don't want to be exempted.. what can I do? Have Been to jamb to effect the changes but i have not gotten an email till this moment. Would Jamb use the age on my result slip or the one on my jamb Portal profile? Because even my nysc form i filled in school is carrying an age below 30..if you can help pls let me know and pls don't play me..iam not a person anyone can play.

Lol. So ur above 30years and gradually turning to evening news paper. Well u don't much trouble if na only jamb. There's a room for correction like DOB and name during NYSC registration. Just make sure statement of result has the real DOB below 30 as na ur school dey forward details to NYSC and also make sure ur name dey for jamb Matriculation list.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Saturday, April 15, 2023 for the conduct of supplementary election in Port Harcourt II and Khana/Gokana federal constituencies.

The State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Johnson Sinikiem, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, April 11.

Sinikiem said the election would commence by 8:30am in the LGAs and Registration Areas and in Khana Wards 04 and 07, across 42 polling units.

He said in Port Harcourt, the election would be held in 377 polling units within Wards 05, 10 and 28 respectively.

The statement reads in part:

”The management of INEC in Rivers State wishes to inform all political parties and the entire public that the supplementary election for Port Harcourt II and Khana/Gokana federal constituencies earlier announced by the Commission will hold this Saturday, April 15, 2023 by 8.30am in the LGAs/registration areas.

The Commission therefore calls on all registered voters in the affected registration areas/polling units to come out en masse on the above-mentioned date to cast their votes and to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and in accordance with laid down guidelines.

Please be assured of our commitment to ensure a successful conclusion of the election.”
