Politics / The Devil Wears Prada - Ebi Rose by SaltWariso: 12:16pm On Nov 28, 2015
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
If you wait for the devil to appear to you looking like a beast with horns and terrific looks then you might just have to wait forever, they don’t come looking like that rather they appear to us in our own form just like Timipre Sylva and APC has come to us in Bayelsa State promising us a change that we will never see. How can these people preach change to us when they haven’t even changed? President Buhari promised changed in Nigeria we are yet to see this change, I regret my thumb print under the APC logo during the presidential elections and I call upon all Bayelsans home and aboard not to make the same mistake that Nigerians made on the 28 -29th April 2015. We can hide the truth from one another but we can never hide the truth from ourselves, I bet that even the members of APC regret their choice for Nigeria. Like they say, you never value what you have untill you lose it, we all miss Jonathan’s government where things weren’t better but it sure wasn’t this bad.
Beloved Bayelsans do not be deceived by Sylva’s appearance in white linen claiming to be an angel, the heart of a man isn’t measured by his favorite color or his dress code, that is just a poor campaign strategy to deceive us, Sylva doesn’t think or mean well for Bayelsans, during his campaigns to the riverine areas of Bayelsa he visited with Helicopter because he believed such arrival will make the people see him as a god who have just arrived from heaven but we are not fooled by such, the wounds in our heart will not heal because he has come with a sweet coated tongue, like yesterday we still hear the voices of our loved ones lost in the Timipre Sylva’s Government.

Politics / Charity Begins At Home By Wariso Salt by SaltWariso: 12:01pm On Nov 25, 2015
Charity Begins At Home
From time immemorial, Nigerians have always extended their sympathy to others facing trial while at the same time neglecting their own trials.

The instances are too numerous to highlight but moving forward to the most recent, on the 13th Of November 2015, a group of terrorists affiliated with ISIS attacked Paris, France, leaving no fewer than 129 people dead and many more injured.

The world reacted to the Paris attack which even led the Facebook team to introduce a highlight of the French flag along with profile pictures to show solidarity and let the French know that the world mourns with them.

Interestingly, the day before the Paris attack, a similar attack had happened in Beirut, Lebanon that also saw scores dead but the world waved it off because after all Lebanon was not a First world country and probably didn’t deserve sympathy.

Through all of this, the part that got me very irate was when Nigerians who have neglected the continuous bombings in the North East that led to loss of lives, went on various social media platforms to express and extend their condolences to France.

What happened to Charity beginning at Home? Have we become so blind and oblivious to our own travails?

On the 26th of July 2009, Nigeria had its first bomb blast which was claimed by Islamist terror group Boko Haram. Till date, the amount of lives that have been lost cannot even be accounted for because of how large the number is.

The level of destruction that has been caused by Boko Haram is one that may never ever be recovered.

What efforts have we made to ensure that this issue is eradicated? Do we offer prayers to our innocent brothers and sisters who have died for no reason? Do we join efforts and bring suggestions on ways to fight insurgency? What do we do? It is because we haven’t taken ourselves seriously that’s why the world hasn’t taken us seriously.

Properties destroyed after Boko Haram bomb attack

Do not get me wrong, it is not wrong to show extend condolences, but it should be done bearing in mind that Charity begins at home.
