Rassco:

We shall overcome. It is a temporary setback to which Mr president is making provisions and putting structures in place to end the menace.

Let's give them all the needed support and prayers to see things through.
Bros you lack information and like some fellas have said here its suffering and smilling attitude that you have, that is if you are one of the many civil servants in the state who have had to treck to work with an empty stomac for many months. It is only an insane governor that will be treathning to sack workers and doing stupid screening after he is owing his workers for close to 5 month. A Governor that cannot generate enough money to pay its workers and is relying on the FED is a failure! Shikenna

Politics / Ajimobi Aggresively Victimizing Oyo State Civil Servants! by samiebond: 12:08pm On Jun 25, 2015
Oyo state government have not been hiding his disdain for civil servants in the state since he assumed office in 2011, According to report reaching us from the state, When he came into office 4 years ago the first thing he did was to slash the salary of civil servants in the state from the what the previous administration and labor leaders in the state signed as salary of civil servants. He sacked many workers in the state saying that they had falsified their age in the document they presented at the screening by the State government. He had not promoted civil servants in the state since he came to office in 2011. As if that was not enough reduced the running cost of civil servant and failed to pay leave bonus to civil servants since last year.

The relationship between the Governor and workers in the state became more severe when he felt that the civil servants were not going to support him in the second term bid. The report reaching us recently from that state is that the Governor has recently ordered that all the SUREP buses given to civil servants succor to the fuel subsidy removal in 2012 be taken back to their base.

According to sources that claimed anonymity, "after he (the governor) has refused to pay us salary for almost 4 month now, he is still threatening to sack many of us and those who refuse to come to work early", There has also been reports in recent times of worker beaten and harassed by the governor thugs and members of the state Operation Burst.

it will be recalled that while calling off its strike the NLC Chairman said: “After a successful negotiation which led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the state government, the labour union has resolved to suspend the strike.”

He added that the union had also reached an agreement with the state government on modalities to adopt in paying the outstanding March, April and May salaries.

The Oyo NLC chairman also said that an agreement was also reached on the payment of grade levels one to 12 as soon as the next allocation to the state was released while levels 13 and above would be paid later.

Explaining why the Union adopted the style of payment, Olojede said that it was better than agreeing on half salary for all workers.

This has made the NLC chairman unpopular and many workers in the state believe that that NLC in the state have become a rubber stamp for the Ajimobi led government to carry out his dishonorable acts on the workers

I am a young Nigerian that is like any other Nigerian faced with the day to day hustle in the Country. From power problem to no job issue, from business hardship to family demand. I tried different businesses, i tried forex, I tried binary options and other businesses, Then..... there came a time when I became fed up of complaining. I chose to grab my future with my two hands. i heard people make money on sport betting then I researched about how I can make money too. And that was the turning point.

Business / Opinion Poll - Naira To Cross 200 Per Dollar Soon? by samiebond: 3:45pm On Dec 22, 2014
Dec 22 (Lagos) - Over the weekend we met with some top private analysts and there was talk of Naira hitting the 240 mark over the next few months. The reasons given for Naira to cross 200 soon were many and almost none for the currency to strengthen unless Brent crude price bounces back soon.

Some blame also went towards the CBN for not increasing the Benchmark interest rate to a level which could support the Naira and it was compared to the move by the Russian Central Bank which raised their key lending rate to 17% from 10%.

Even as we witness a Santa Claus rally at the stock exchange this week most analysts are not positive over a six month period and expect equities to remain volatile.

Could Nigeria face a similar fate as the Russian Rouble in coming months? Or have we seen the worst already? These are questions on the mind of every analyst and investor at the moment.

Naira crossed the 194 mark on the street market over the week as was reported in some of the top newspapers in the country. Naira is at 187.45 at the inter-bank which is much below the CBN's desired range. It is anybody's guess as to where Naira is headed.

So we would like to ask you our esteemed visitors "Where do you see the Naira 3 months from today". Simple vote for your selection in the opinion poll section on the homepage.

Religion / Breaking In!!! Another 185 Women And Children Kidnaped In Chibok??? by samiebond: 1:55pm On Dec 18, 2014
Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped at least 185 women and children, and killed 32 people in a raid in northeastern Nigeria this week, local officials and residents said.

Gunmen in pickup trucks attacked the village of Gumsuri, just north of Chibok, on Sunday, shooting down men before herding women and children together.

"They gathered the women and children and took them away in trucks after burning most of the village with petrol bombs," a local government official said on condition anonymity for fear of reprisal.

News of the attack took four days to emerge because of a lack of communication. Telecommunications towers in the region had been disabled in previous attacks.

Local officials learned of the attack from residents who fled to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, where the officials had moved a year ago to escape Boko Haram attacks.

The militants stormed the village from two directions, overwhelming local vigilantes who had repelled Boko Haram attacks over the course of the year, said Gumsuri resident Umar Ari, who trekked for four days to Maiduguri.

‎"They destroyed almost half the village and took away 185 women, girls and boys," Ari said.‎

Resident Modu Kalli said the militants fired heavy machine guns on the village and poured canisters of gasoline on houses before setting them on fire.

"We lost everything in the attack. I escaped with nothing, save the clothes I have on me," Kalli said.

Hundreds of residents of Gumsuri continue to arrive in Maiduguri, which has been struggling to accommodate thousands of residents fleeing towns and villages overrun by Boko Haram.

Campaign of violence

Boko Haram has terrorized northern Nigeria regularly since 2009, attacking police, schools, churches and civilians, and bombing government buildings.

This month, at least one female Boko Haram suicide bomber killed five people in Maiduguri. Last month, suicide bombings killed nearly 180 people. More than half of the victims died in an attack on a mosque that many suspect Boko Haram was behind.

Politics / Fresh: Plot To Impeach Jonathan Thickens!!! by samiebond: 7:45pm On Dec 14, 2014
TWENTY four hours to House of Representatives resumption, members of the opposition All Progressives Congress ,APC impeachment plot against President Jonathan gathers momentum.
Also, there are indications that about 20 PDP members in the House may defect to the main opposition party tomorrow.
Lawmakers of other parties in the House  aggrieved  that they  lost out at the recently concluded primaries are also decamping to APC.
One of the arrowheads  of the impeachment project that spoke to Vanguard under the condition of anonymity at the weekend confirmed that the idea is not “dead” as being insinuated in certain quarters.

Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/apc-reps-plot-impeach-jonathan-thickens/

You can recall in a post by vanguard which came out on 29th of Nov.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/mark-behind-delay-jonathans-impeachment-apc-senator/

An All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator yesterday told Saturday Vanguard that the leadership of the Senate was behind the delay in the commencement of impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan, as the Senate President, David Mark and his principle officers had always pleaded for calm and thwarted previous moves.
The Senator, who spoke on condition of anonymity for now pending when those behind the impeachment plot will officially make open their identity, noted that the agitation to commence the impeachment proceedings on the President had been in the senate but was triggered by the recent police invasion and the poor state of the nation’s economy and the insecurity in North East.
He alleged that, “Since President Goodluck Jonathan wants to destroy the country because of personal ambition, impeachment is the only option left to show him the way out so that efforts of our fore fathers would not go in vain.”
He claimed that the President had committed grievous impeachable offences which if ignored would lead to the destruction of the country, pointing out that among the offences included none implementation of the budget since 2011, the crumbling of the economy, the increasing security challenges and the use of security operatives to harass and intimidate perceived opponents of government.
The APC Senator said the move was not a party affair rather a collective effort that cuts through political lines to save Nigeria from imminent collapse, adding that as at the time he was appending his signature on the impeachment list, seven Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, signed in his presence.

Sports / Saudi Female Fan Red-carded For Coming To The Male Domain Of A Stadium by samiebond: 6:39pm On Dec 14, 2014
A female fan who disguised herself to infiltrate the male-only domain of a football stadium in Saudi Arabia has been red-carded, a police statement obtained on Sunday says.
Men and women are strictly segregated in the kingdom, and football stadiums are out of bounds to women.
But one female supporter managed to sneak into a Friday fixture of the Abdul Latif Jameel Saudi professional league at Al-Jawhara stadium in the Red Sea city of Jeddah.
She wore men’s clothes “and deliberately covered her head so as not to be detected by security and not to draw attention,” police spokesman Atti al-Qurashi said in the statement.
A video posted on YouTube purported to show her sitting by herself among some empty seats in a section reserved for fans of the visiting Al-Shabab club from the capital Riyadh.
A man nearby appears to be looking intently at the woman who sported glasses and black attire. She seemed to be wearing a large hat with a scarf in Al-Shabab’s black and white colours for the match against Jeddah’s Al-Ittihad.
Qurashi said the presence of the woman, who bought her ticket online, was “against the regulations”.
He did not elaborate on whether she would face any charges but said her case “has been forwarded to the specialised authorities.”
He also “confirmed the need to comply with the instructions and regulations issued by the official authorities with regard to this matter.”
Saudi women, required to cover from head to toe when outside the home, still need permission from a male guardian to work and marry.
Restaurants are divided into “family sections” and separate areas for single men.
Saudi Arabia is also the world’s only country which does not allow women to drive, and those who challenge the ban risk arrest.

Politics / Rochas Okorocha Asked To Apologize To The Igbos For Losing APC Primaries by samiebond: 6:11pm On Dec 14, 2014
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East, Osita Okechukwu, has accused Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha  of allegedly gambling with the chances of the Ndigbo to bargain for Vice President slot  in the 2015 general elections, noting that his (Okorocha) failure contributed in weakening that opportunity.

Okechukwu, who is the spokesman of APC in the South-East,  in a press statement Sunday stated this while reacting to Governor Okorocha’s statement after his failed bid to get the presidential ticket of the party.

According to him, “His Excellency’s statement is one of self denial, for rather than apologizing to Ndigbo for his gambit, which made Ndigbo to lose the national chairmanship of the APC, placed us in a weak position to vie for Vice President, he is regrettably justifying the unjustifiable.

“One had thought that as a leader he could had placed the collective interest of Ndigbo above his Nollywood show, since he is quite aware of the position of the party as regards zoning.

“For the avoidance of doubt, in a South East Caucus meeting at His Excellency, Dr Ogboninya Onu’s residence at Abuja in July, 2014, some of us agreed that he is eminently qualified to vie for presidency, but given the prevailing understanding that the presidency is going North, we should vie for chairmanship and vice president slots, waiting for the next 8 years when it is coming South.  He refused and boasted that he is going to win the presidential primary.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/apologize-now-ndigbo-losing-apc-presidential-primary-okechukwu-tells-okorocha/

The question I asked myselve here is Do they think Okorocha has got the National muscle to win the primaries in the first place? Who dey decieve who here?

At least 8,000 delegates are expected to choose the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at its national convention commencing tomorrow in Lagos, party spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said yesterday.

Mohammed vowed that given the determination of the party to change the course of the country, the party would ensure that the “process of effecting that change has commenced with the effective mobilisation of Nigerians to demand the change in the 2015 general elections.”

Five presidential aspirants, namely: Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), Sam Nda-Isaiah, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and Governor Rochas Okorocha are scheduled to vie for the presidential ticket of the party.

Mohammed, at the briefing, defended the change of venue from Abuja to Lagos. According to him, central to the decision was neutrality, accommodation availability and security concerns.

He said Jos, Plateau State, which was central enough was not chosen because of security concerns, adding that the party took a deliberate decision to ensure that the states of the aspirants contending were not chosen.

In my opinion however, I see Buhari winning the polls because he has good anticident and is well supported all across the country!

I see next year primary going to be between Buhari and Jonathan.

The Question however is Who do you choose?

Politics / Oyo State Broke! Refused To Pay November Salary! by samiebond: 3:42pm On Dec 04, 2014
With the current economic situation in the country, there is need for state government to look inward and source for more Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) so that their state will not be starved by the Federal Government's failure to release allocation promptly.

Africa’s largest economy banned paying for imported goods such as electronics, generators and telecommunications equipment, using foreign-exchange bought at bi-weekly auctions, according to a circular posted on the Abuja-based regulator’s website yesterday.

Nigeria, which relies on oil for 80 percent of government revenue, is facing lower export earnings after the average crude price among members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries dropped below $80 for the first time in four years. Reduced intervention boosts the chance of a 50-basis point increase in interest rates to 12.5 percent at the central bank’s Nov. 24-25 meeting, according to Capital Economics.

In Oyo state, as at the time of filling this report, none of the state workers on the payroll of the state government have been paid November salary, the government only completed the payment to October salary this week (the first week in December), this the governor owed to the inability of the Federal government to send allocations to the state on time, but this is against the backdrop of the recent publication of the Federal government in a prominent newspaper stating that allocations are being disbursed to all state as at when due!

who is fooling who? this is meant for the public to decide!
