Millichamp: Was it the same venue with the first stage interview?
Mine looks different. Here is the address for the 1st interview: Venue:
Ikeja Electric, Ikeja Business Unit Opp. Mobil Filling Station, beside Zenith Bank Oregun, Ikeja Lagos.
The venue for the Final interview: Venue:
Ikeja Electric Head Office Opp. MiTV, beside Lagos State Secretariat Alausa, Ikeja Lagos. The head office is just beside secretariat. I have done the second stage interview, though, I don't know if it is the last sha. Mine was for finance and audit trainee. |

funkystanl: Ok...i'm using ednut1 as my hypothetical case. Mr Ednut works for TheRealAdonye n Co. In his offer letter he's to earn: Basic Salary (B): 700,000 Housing Allowance (H): 200,000 Transport Allowance (T): 100,000
Calculate his monthly take home pay!
Annual Gross = B + H + T Annual Gross = (700 + 200 + 100)k = 1million NHF contribution = 2.5% * Basic = 17,500 Pension contribution = 8% (B+H+T) = 80,000 Personal allowance = 20% * Gross = 200,000 CRA = Higher of 200k or 1% of gross = 200,000
Taxable Income = Gross - (NHF+Pension+PA+CRA) Taxable Income = 1,000,000 -(17,500+80000+200,000+200,000) = 502,500. This is the amount to be taxed not your gross. 19.2% of this amount is 96,480. But this ain't the true tax. Let's see how close it is to the true tax.
Since we use PAYE First 300k (out of the taxable income of 502500) will be taxed at 7% i.e 7%*300,000 = 21,000 Next 300k will be taxed at 11% (please not that what is left fromm the taxable income is just 202,500. So we are taxing what is left and not 300k) i.e 11%*202500 = 22,275
What is left? Nothing so there is no 500k to be taxed at 15% hence Mr Edut tax bad stops at 11%
The PAYE tax is 21000+22275 =43,275
Can you compare with the 96,480 when we just applied (19.2% on the taxable income? This showed that Mr Ednut Effective Tax rate (ETR) is about 8.6%.
Back on track. Mr Ednut total deductions is:
NHF + Pension + Tax = 140,775.
Net income = Gross - Total deductions = 859,225
Monthly take home = Net income divide by 12 = 71,602.08. Wow! I find this really educative. I'm currently studying for an ACCA certification, so I recognized what you did. I'm glad to know they are similar, though the rates in the UK are relatively higher, the starting band being 20%. I am also in the interview stage in the current (2018) recruitment process. Thanks for the help |

sheke01: I didn't want to post this because of personal reasons but on a second thought I think I owe it to posterity to do this because I gained a lot from 2016, 2017 threads and other nairaland threads that I've been following. I had my pwc interview on friday but before I go into details let me talk about my experience so far. For OPQ, consistency is all they want. Even if u are choosing all the "negative" traits, just be consistent with them. Or better still visit 2017 thread from page 50-65, LaRochelle and her gang laid down some pretty nice traits they were consistent with. You can stick to those traits and be consistent with them. Back to my interview, my team's topic was Tourism and it's importance to Nigerian economy. For the other team that did on the same day, their topic was Child labor and ways to eradicate it. It's best if your team can choose it's presenter, time keeper, coordinator etc before you guys enter the room as this will save time for your team and everyone should try and contribute as the panelists will be seated on the same table with you guys and will be writing something (scoring you guys) as you people are deliberating on the topic. Contributions is more important than being time keeper or coordinator. My one on one interview proper: I was really drilled. No amount of preparation would have prepared me enough for what I went through on friday. I spent closed to an hour and I was asked more than 20 questions. Being truthful is the way forward or if u can construct your response beforehand, good for you. But one thing I learnt from the interview is that you can not prepare enough and you can't plan for every possible situation based questions. The questions I was asked is as follows: If given a 2nd chance at the group presentation what will I do differently Tell us about yourself Tell us about a time you showcased a skill i mentioned in the "tell us about yourself response" What do you know about pwc What do you know about pwc Nigeria Tell us about a time you showcased your communication skills How do you stay updated with current news Tell us about a time you had a conflict with people in my previous place of work Don't I think I took the conflict too far? Tell us about about time you learnt something about a new environment Tell us about a time you interacted with people outside your immediate circle (people you are not familiar with), and your contribution to the interaction Tell us a time you convinced someone to accept my own idea Do I know what services pwc offer Do I know what auditors do What's your career goal Do I think engineering has prepared me to be an auditor Which department did you apply to Why did you apply to audit My department my favourite pwc partner works in (because I mentioned a partner as my favourite in one of our discussions) Do u have a mentor, if yes what impact has he made to your career choice Tell us about a recent financial news and it's effect on the economy I was finally asked to ask them a question, which I did There are still some that I cannot remember and only the first 6 questions are in the order that I was asked
N/B: Please go with your credentials if you can, because some of us were asked for them as they were having problems finding our credentials
The panelists were really nice. I was given a bottle of water and I drank more than half of it. I was even asked to go with the rest
In in all, do your best and hope for the best Thank you very much for this. Sometimes, I still feel I ain't prepared enough. |

Ken124: I think what he meant is what if a question is asked "what have you been doing since you finished nysc still nw".
If u haven't worked before,you can say..
“My work is important to me, so I won’t be satisfied with any job. Instead of rushing to accept the first thing that comes my way, I’m taking my time and being selective to make sure my next role is the right one" which I actually found in PWC.
If you are asked why PWC from other big four firms or other coy. You can say What makes PWC different is not how big they are, where they are or services they provide..
What makes them different is their impact in helping client achieve remarkable goals, solve complex problems & make meaningful progress......
Best of luck Chairmen them, I'm loyal. Perfect response |
