Politics / Presidency Finally Reacts To The News Of ‘alleged’ HIV Cure By Abia State Profes by Samkoyeh3(m): 12:52am On Feb 03, 2017
The presidency has swiftly reacted to the trending news that a Professor of Virology at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Abia State, has invented the cure of HIV/Aids

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has said that he was not aware of a cure for HIV/AIDS being reported by the majority of the Nigerian media, Punch newspaper reports.

The minister had reacted to the not-so-new claims of finding a cure for HIV being made by a Professor of Virology at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia State, Maduike Ezeibe.
Contrary to media interpretation of his claims, Ezeibe said he had only found a “potentiate” for possible manufacturing of HIV drugs.

As reported by the media, the professor had said, “The medicine had been used to “potentiate Ampicilin, Chloroquine, Piperazine and Sulphadimidin, among others…
“Local and international pharmaceutical companies would find the product as a veritable raw material…”

Technically and as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, a “potentiate” is used to augment the activity of (as a drug) synergistically. It is used to increase the power, effect, or likelihood of (something, especially a drug or physiological reaction).
And, as explained by Ezeibe himself, his current product is a “raw material” for HIV drugs if, as he also said, it is “approved by relevant authorities.”
Health Minister Adewole, in a text message sent through the Director Media & Public Relations at the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Boade Akinola, wrote, “I’m not aware of his claims.

“There are standard ways of disseminating such information. The Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, in conjunction with the College of Medicine University of Ibadan, has been mandated to verify two claims of cure for HIV in Nigeria.
“We shall make our findings public when ready.”

Investment / I Can’t Pay My School Fees After Losing Money To MMM – Female Student Cries Out by Samkoyeh3(m): 12:21am On Feb 03, 2017
A student of Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State, named Dupe Olurunfemi, was admitted into the school clinic when she heard school fees payment deadline.

She cried out that she invested over Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000) which was meant for her school fees and accommodation in the money doubling ponzi scheme – MMM, and has been unable to get the money back to pay her school fees.

There has been incense and several pleas on social media by students who were affected by the Ponzi scheme after MMM fails to keep its promise to start paying participants by January 14.
Dupe said: “I joined the platform on November 9, 2016 with N70,000 which I had been saving for months to pay my fees this session. I woke up on December 12, 2016 to get help (GH) only to find out that the GH had been frozen. I had hoped that on January 14, 2017, I will be paid but I am yet to get my money back.”
According to The Nation, the deadline for school fees payment of Bida Polytechnic ended on 25th January. There are other students in same problem with Dupe because of MMM.
Schemes like MMM should just be something you put cash that you could lose and not feel too bad.

Politics / “ Stop Lying To Nigerians About Pres . Buhari ’s Health ” – Junaid Tells Preside by Samkoyeh3(m): 2:05am On Jan 29, 2017
Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has lashed out at the Presidency saying they should stop lying to Nigerians over the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said Nigerians can’t afford to have another constitutional crises due to Mr. President’s health.
The Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu had attacked Mohammed on Monday saying he is suffering from pathological cynicism.
According to Shehu, “Mohammed’s kind of critics is toxic to national progress because they are only primarily interested in destroying every positive effort and achievements of the government and we advise Nigerians to be wary of prejudiced and biased critics like Dr. Junaid Mohammed who are more interested in personal publicity than respecting facts and figures about their claims”.
But reacting to Sheu’s statement, Mohammed said the Presidential spokesperson should stop telling Nigerians lies about Buhari’s health.
His words, “I believe Shehu is under pressure which is why he attacked me. However, I believe strongly they need to stop lying to Nigerians about Mr Presidents health. Can they actually tell what this medical leave or routine check-up is? They don’t seems to be telling us the truth”.
He maintained he has been President Buhari’s friend since when he was a second lieutenant in the Army, but that he cannot shy away from telling the President the truth anytime he misfires.
He said, “If I am to comment on issues that concern Nigerians, I won’t shy away from telling President Buhari the home truth anywhere he is making mistakes.
I criticized General Abacha as Head of State and told him some truths in private and sometimes face to face. I believe if people can challenge their friends in power, it shows they are not intimidated by the powerful.
“If Aisha Buhari can say what she said about her husband, I think the President needs to check himself and retrace his steps on some issues that concerns the country. I think the question the President needs to ask himself is that after one he has taken over the reigns of power, what has changed? Is Nigeria better off than when he took over on May 29, 2015? The truth is that Nigeria is worse off today than when Buhari took over the reigns of power.
“Every Nigerian today is worse off and nothing seems to be working under this government. Some who are rich in 2015 cannot say same today due to the economic woes that Nigeria is presently experiencing and we cannot continue to close our eyes off it”.

Education / Helpful!! Read Six Ways Road Accidents Can Be Reduced In Nigeria (must Read) by Samkoyeh3(m): 1:56am On Jan 29, 2017
The way traffic accidents are increasing in Nigeria is getting alarming ,the funny thing is that most of it can be avoided .The question is what can we do about it?
1.Fix The Bad Roads
This is more than obvious ,the bad roads have to be fixed .Huge pot holes are still visible on some major roads .To reduce accidents ,first the government has to get the roads fixed .

2.Traffic Lights
Its so sad that some major areas in Lagos for example ,don’t still have traffic lights in round-abouts and junctions. When the traffic lights are there, some of them don’t even work.To prevent accidents traffic lights need to work and using them have to be enforced.A lot of folks skip traffic lights and are not penalized for it ,because there is no adequate monitoring system (cameras) .
3.Truck Restrictions
Out of every 10 accidents about 6 are linked to trucks and tankers .Trucks and tankers should be restricted to move only at night .It would drastically reduce accidents on the road.
4.Use Of Trains
Trains are more safer according to statistics, the possibility of a train getting involved an accident is very low.Trains should be used especially for flammable substances.I think they should also be used to transport livestock,I am tired of seeing cows loose their lives .I know there is inadequate railway channels to accommodate this plans ,so adequate railway system should be put in place as well.
5.Restriction Of Herdsmen
This dudes just do any how and in some major roads , they come out from nowhere with their cows .There are cases where it has caused accidents. If there are restrictions on certain roads(especially major roads) it would help.
6.Imposing Maintenance
I know this sounds crazy ,but what if maintenance on a regular basis is imposed ,it would drastically reduce the rate of accidents .To make it more effective ,there should be a steep fine for defaulters .
7.Speed Limiters
I think speed limiters would also help a lot especially in Danfo buses .
Add yours and share!!

Bush Meat Palava: Pastor Shot Dead By Hunter While Settling Fight In Benue State

A man of God who came to settle a quarrel between a hunter and his wife at Iwewe-Ichama community, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, has been shot dead.
The pastor, identified as Ojobo, was killed by Idoko, the hunter, on Friday. Idoko also injured three people, who came to intervene in the marital squabble. Idoko was about to shoot his mother-in-law when he shot and killed the pastor.
The three other people, who were injured, also came to rescue the old woman. Trouble started after Idoko’s wife cooked a bush meat he killed the previous day, even after he had warned her not to. He said that he planned to sell it to raise money.

An eyewitness said that after realising his wife had cooked the meet, Idoko got angry. The couple started quarreling and it snowballed.
The angry hunter, in a blind rage, grabbed his hunting rifle and threatened to shoot his motherin- law for supporting her daughter. The old woman raised the alarm, attracting neighbours. The pastor was one of those that rushed to the scene.
The pastor tried to rescue the old woman from Idoko’s grip, but Idoko suddenly pulled the trigger. The pastor reportedly died of gunshot wound on the spot.

Crime / In Akure, Husband Divorces Wife Because She Loves Watching Movies by Samkoyeh3(m): 11:32pm On Jan 24, 2017
Yesterday, an estranged husband identified as Tunde Esan asked an Akure Customary Court to dissolve his 18-year-old marriage to his wife,
Yetunde, whom he described as being “too lazy and likes watching movies.”
The man who expressed bitterness while seeking dissolution of his marriage to Yetunde, said that he had endured her for too long.
Yetunde, who didn’t dispute Esan’s allegations, knelt down in the court and begged her husband to forgive her. He told the court:
“I had endured for many years; I can no longer tolerate her lazy attributes.
All my efforts to get my wife to start a trade have failed. My wife is not ready to do any work but only sits at home watching movies.

I have not enjoyed her since I married her. Although I’m used to her lazy acts, I would have filed divorce suit since but was restricted by various appeals by friends and family members.’’
Esan said that it was his eldest child, who had been cooking at home. He also told the court that Yetunde was fond of incurring debt which put the family into disrepute.
His words: “I am a very comfortable man. I have mansions and very comfortable, but my wife keeps borrowing money from our neighbour.”

Politics / PDP Raises Alarm Over Renewed Plot To Remove Fayose by Samkoyeh3(m): 12:00am On Jan 06, 2017
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ekitit state chapter has warned against the alleged renewed plot to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose.

PDP declared that, if such is eventually carried out, it would lead to the total collapse of President Muhamadu Buhari administration.

The opposition party branded Fayose as a man of the people and the leader in the country, who commands enormous followership across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Barr. Gboyega Oguntuase, the PDP state chairman, speaking on Wednesday, January 4, said the letter written earlier that day by the governor to the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen to inform him on the alleged moves to manipulate a section of the judiciary to effect the move was justifiable.

Oguntuase who maintained that the move would create crisis of monumental proportion that would be difficult for the Nigeria Army to curtail said: “removing Governor Fayose from power is like removing the whole Ekiti who voted for him in all the 16 local government areas of this state. Any war wage against our governor will be resisted by the people from all these zones.

“Governor Fayose has been the most consistent critic of President Buhari’s government, particularly against the poorly managed economy leading to this recession . So, all Nigerians will rise against this evil plot.

“If you look at the results of the 2014 governorship poll, you would think it was a tsunami because he won in all the 16 local governments. If truly democracy still remains the government of the people, then attempt to remove Governor Fayose will be tantamount to usurpation of the people’s power”, he said.

On the insinuations from some quarters that the governor only played to the gallery by his letter to the CJN, the PDP boss who was in support the action, said “it was not misdirected since it was reliably gathered that a section of the judiciary was allegedly involved in the evil plot”...... .. ..
