I have been hibernating my system 6 days in a week for more than 3 years now and it has never caused any harm to my system. But one should also take not that accumulated services may slow down your system if you do not restart it once in one or two weeks to stop the background services you do not need to run. Hibernating is a way of shutdown, but instead of stopping all the services running befor the shutdown, hibernating the system will save this services and the working environment in a portion of your system hard disk space and cut off power from the system resources like the RAM, Processor etc.
