2. Choose the lowest ISO possible for slower shutter speed 100 or 200

3. Choose the highest F-stop number possible (f/22 or f/32) depending on your lens.

4. Choose a shady place to stay, because that will actually slow your shutter speed down even more.

5. A tripod is an essential in this kind of shoot. The reason you need a tripod is because it will keep the background sharp and the people will have that nice Flowing movement. If you don't use a tripod, you may have a little bit of a camera shake, because the shutter speed is so slow

Here's my story below:

NABILA SANDA GALADIMA (daughter of ALHAJI UMAR SANDA GALADIMA, The Galadima of Biu). A 19 years old (14th November 1999) Bingham University Mass Communication student who got converted from Islam to Christianity, and was long persecuted for that. She made headlines early 2018 when The father used his influence to unlawfully arrest her through the Department of Secret Service (DSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA) & Nigerian Army. She and her male friend SIMPUT EAGLES DAFUP II (an Engineer based in Ghana) who took her to CAN Plateau State - were unlawfully detained in DSS for weeks. Nabila in April 2018 released some videos on Facebook (https://web.facebook.com/nabila.galadima) explaining her ordeal and how terrible she was treated for no crime committed except for converting to Christianity.
On 1st September 2018, she showed on her Facebook page evidence of DSS attempting to unlawfully arrest her – after many unsuccessful tracking of her location by hacking her Facebook account. She also shared some dead threats issued on her. Her life and that of Simput has been in danger, and they for more than a year now have been running for their lives.
Nabila had escaped the trite strategy of her pursuers by going abroad for furthering of education. Whiles in school, the institution requested for her WASSCE original certificate which demanded she comes back to Nigeria for it. In the face of danger and fear for harm, she contacted a Reverend, John Ekunnusi to accompany her (for security reasons) to Jos for her WASSCE Cert. He couldn't but asked his younger brother (Jamiu Ekunnusi) to help. Unfortunately, Jamiu had been seeking such a chance to whisk/snatch her away to her family for re-Islamization. He was Contracted by her Parents to get her. He cunningly used this opportunity to execute his heartless, brutal assignment.
He tried raping her, but he couldn't succeed, he then hurriedly handed her to Police & The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) around MazaMaza Park, Lagos. Since March till date; it's 90 days now, she's unlawfully detained whiles her studies is forcefully on hold. No justice for her... She's a prisoner of her faith in a democratic country like Nigeria where freedom of religion is constitutional.

Religion has brought a great divide directly affecting Nigeria politically, economically, and even socially. In the days of the old, conversion from one religion to another was no news; it had no extra attention, mellow-drama or community tension. Religious intermarriage was overlooked and well attended to by family and friends from mainly the two pronounced religions in the country (Christianity and Islam). But now, the story is way different as such decisions always come with death threats. However, a few people still dare the path.

In Nigeria, the constitution is very clear about taking such decisions into action. In the 1999 Constitution as amended,

Section 38 (1) of the constitution and Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Right, provides: “Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom (either alone or in community with others, and in public or in private) to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance.”

Section 35 (1) Every person shall be entitled to his personal liberty and no person shall be deprived of such liberty save in the following cases and in accordance with a procedure permitted by law.

Section 39 (1) Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including the freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference.

Section 41 (1) of Constitution provides that: “Every Citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria and to reside in any part thereof.
However, these laws have been abused, violated and relegated in Nigeria. There are many cases that prove my assertion true; when one goes into google for some information, they’re just at fingertips! Notwithstanding, the concentration here is on Nabila Sanda Galadima. She has been through a lot for the sake of her religious decision.

I wish Nigeria would learn to tolerate each other, and live in peace as our forefathers did.

But then lets try and look at some important things that we know and no one is talking about it, yeah...

The thing is that how much do you care for your lens?
The most annoying thing is to shoot with dirty lens because it will definite upset you, yes for sure, after investing long hour of shooting and coming out with poor result . is as good as not having that shoot because it will tell on your portfolio. And you will lose some of your clients, of course if it happens that you are the client you wouldn't patronize a photographer/videographer that tell poor stories about you ...right?

That been said, you would want to know how to clean and care for your lens which will help and put you at the peak of your game ..lol grin grin

HOW TO KEEP YOUR LENS CLEAN AND WORKING PERFECT
To clean your lens you need to get lens cleaning kit that comes with brush, blower, cleaning fluid and cloth when you have this you can now look into step by step way of cleaning your lens and make it look beautiful...

1. Brush and blow the lens surface majestically to remove dust or dirt on it.
2. Moisten cloth with spray of cleaning fluid. Never apply fluid directly on the surface of the lens.
3. Use the cloth to wipe/dry and shine your lens.

NB: Clean only the outer part of your lens... if after cleaning the outer surface your lens, you still notice any smudges/dirt inside your lens, please refer to camera/lens repair service person (I can recommend). Since you are not engineer, I don't know why should open your lens or you want to become one by damaging your lens ...lol

Your idea of venturing into photography is a good one, but you have to consider the following;

TIME
The first is your time, do you have time to invest into learning of photography?
The basic truth is that learning any skill is gonna take you time and other resources.

FOCUS
when you just start out on photography don't be money conscious, it may take you months or a year before you start earning from photography, so you have to commit yourself to learning everything from basics of photography to the pricing.

LEARNING CHANNELS
Figure out the channels that best suit your learning process (online or offline)

I RECOMMEND YOU MAKE MAKE YOUTUBE YOUR BEST FRIEND, YOU CAN LEARN ANY SKILL ON YOUTUBE AND ALSO GET A COACH AND PAY SOME FEE. (someone that can take you to field)

GEAR
Get equipment so that you can put into practice as you learn.

looking at all this features of nikon D70, personally I will Qualify it as an "old school" camera with old feature. Even as at year 2007 and 2008, nikon D70 camera had became obsolete in the market, Merchants no longer invest their money on it because there were newer version with new features of nikon (D80, D90.....) camera in the market.

Personal Opinion;

if you are just starting out on photography, there are series of newer version cameras with new features in the market you would like to look into their features and know which one suit your preference. Cameras like Nikon; D3200, D3300, D3400, D5300, D5400, D7100, D7200 etc. Canon; 1300D, 600D, 650D, 700D, 750D, 800D, 200D, 77D etc.

So you can go ahead and make your research on all this listed cameras above so that you can make a better chioce.

A number of people see photography as just taking pictures and keeping them for archival purposes, but it’s more than that – it definitely goes beyond just taking pictures. Although, there’s one major thing you should have if you want to start a photography business – Passion! It is very important to have a passion for the art of photography. A photographer is not just someone who takes pictures; a photographer is an artist because he or she has to tell a story from every picture he or she takes. Every work of art has a story behind it and should not be underestimated. There are things one should know when starting up a photography business:




1. Explore Your Options: When I say this, I don’t mean to look for another other than photography; what I meant to say is, choose a specialization. Choosing an area of specialization in photography is one of the best ways to distinguish “yourself” from other photographers. You have to find an area of specialization that you love and at the same time, are better in. You can start by learning about and also trying various types of photography like: Landscape photography, wedding photography, baby/child photography, travel photography, portrait photography, fashion photography, food photography, commercial photography, and the list is endless. Once you get an area of specialization, you can start working on giving yourself a brand.




2. Equip yourself, but don’t clutter yourself with equipment you don’t need: The problem some photographers have is that they just buy what they see someone else using or what they see online. They don’t carry out enough research on what kind of equipment they need for their particular area of specialisation. For example, a nature or landscape photographer doesn’t necessarily need a beauty dish for his pictures but he or she goes on to purchase it rather than investing money on a better range of wide-angled lens.




3. Get Professional Experience: Working alongside a professional photographer is a great way to show your prospective clients what you can do, and also to get some experience and start to build a portfolio of your own. You can work as a photographer’s assistant while starting your own business.



4. Choose a Business Name and Logo: You need to get a name for your business as well as creating a cool, unique logo that depicts you. If you can’t create a logo on your own, you can get professional help from a graphic designer.

5. Create a Price Plan: If you want to be taken seriously as a professional photographer, you need to come up with a price plan. What and how much will you charge your potential clients? If it’s per hour or per day; you need to carry out thorough research on that aspect to know the price range of what other photographers charge. Let me warn you though, when you just start, you might have to bring down your prices a bit just to attract clients that may end up being lifetime clients that can refer you to others.




6. Create a Cool Website & Photo Blog: A website shows the world what your business is about, what you do and what your clients expect from you. Your work should obviously be showcased on your website and your blog. Your website should have your contact details; must be well structured and organized. Both your website and blog must be very impressive so as to attract clients. I’ll advice that you get a professional to work on your website design but you can handle the blog on your own. The blog is a way of communicating with your clients or potential clients; you don’t only post your pictures on the blog, you also tell the story behind those pictures. Make sure the quality of your pictures are top notch.




7. Be Aware of Marketing Techniques: As a photographer, you need to market yourself and your work by setting up official pages on social media platforms such as: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn and Ads. Let people know more about you and what you can do by showcasing your work on these pages. You can also print out business cards with all your contact information on it; from your official email to your phone numbers, website, blog and other social media platforms you’re on. Referral programs are also an easy, affordable and effective marketing plan. A referral program is a way to thank your happy clients for recommending you to their friends.



8. Learn to Shoot in Manual Mode As Soon As Possible: When shooting in manual mode, you’re in control of the camera. The aperture, white balance, shutter speed and ISO are all under your control so you have to learn and know how to set them right on your camera. Make your camera your best friend; eat, breathe and live it. Keep practicing with it in your free time and if possible, play with it just to know the “in and out” of it. Don’t get too comfortable with other modes (such as aperture priority, shutter priority, auto, sports, portrait modes…) that will give you limited results as they have “already set” themes which cannot be changed unless you change to manual mode.




9. People Skills: These are the most important skills a photographer should have; not only should you know how to handle the camera but you should be able to communicate well with clients. Also, try and keep a good relationship with your clients and be prepared to refund money sometimes. As much as you need to be friendly and approachable, you also have to be strict when it comes to some funny clients who want to take you for granted.







10. You are Not Just a Photographer: Always have it at the back of your mind that you’re not just a photographer; you’re a businessman, a CEO, CFO, photo editor, social media administrator, web designer, treasurer, secretary, customer service representative and any other business title you can think of. So you have to be business savvy, well informed and equipped when running a photography business of your own. "Take charge!" As your business grows and expands over the years, you can begin to employ new staff to take the work load off you; you can't be in the same position forever.



As a photographer that is new to the business, you have to be patient because as the popular saying goes: "Rome wasn't built in a day." It takes time to build a great business and clientele; you just need the right preparatory tools. You can start by covering family/friends' functions for a token or at times for free, just to get referrals and prospective clients as well as to build up your portfolio. Remember, it is a competitive market out there; quite a large number of photographers are emerging by the day and you need to "up your game" by distinguishing yourself from others. Find what makes you unique; think "out of the box"; come up with a style or setting of photographing, and make it your signature (your brand), such that when people see your pictures anywhere, they'll know it's you without even sighting your logo. At the same time, don't be too predictable; try surprising your clients with amazing pictures once in a while.
